Your link accurately takes one to the story you reference, which is in the Wall Street Journal. But the name of the link as it appears in your post is the Washington Post. The Post would never run a story like this. Too accurate and even handed.

But they only go to prison if a conservative is in the Oval. If Trump is the nominee and gets 49% of the vote that won’t happen. And I don’t think he can persuade 50%+1 of the country to vote for him.

That will only happen if the person actually occupying the Oval Office is conservative.

The fact that the bad guys hate this guy is not, all by itself, enough to make him be, or deserve my or your support for, his candidacy for President of the United States.

Think about how to actually achieve the goal you want rather than simply raging at the people who are opposing those goals.

Why does it matter to you given that the umpire’s call still controls the outcome no matter what we say or how loud we say it or how many times we repeat it.
Not only doesn’t the ump care. The audience doesn’t care. They’ve left to stadium and gone home. They will not come back and ask for a do over, or fire the ump, no matter how many times you prove it was a ball that he called a strike.
We have to find a way to actually solve the problem. Otherwise we just give up and hand the game to the other side. Is that what you propose?

It doesn’t matter what we think. Donald Trump is not sitting in the Oval Office. We have to come up with a plan that has a good chance of actually succeeding that will put into that chair a person who will do what we want.
That’s all that matters. Saying Trump won doesn’t solve that problem, no matter how fervently anyone believes it.

The only thing that matters is actually solving the problem.

Given all those things - which are just FACTS, albeit facts that none of us like — given all those facts, what’s your plan for getting a real conservative to actually win in 2024?

What was that sarcastic put-down by Obama of Romney, to the effect that the 1980’s were calling to ask for their foreign policy back? It looks like spectacular displays of weakness and incompetence by the current American president have encouraged those 1980’s to do just that. And get away with it.

Trump isn’t really talking about unexplained and unvetted things. What he really means is that she’s black and that the people in the middle of the state, which is where the Republicans are, won’t vote for her.

I think he’s wrong and I also think that he is encouraging the Republicans to miss a valuable opportunity. It’s even one he himself tried to capitalize on, when he spoke to blacks in 2016 and asked “what have you got to lose?”

Blacks are, in many ways, conservative. Black voters don’t like the woke nonsense and they sure as heck don’t like the defund the police movement. They know that stuff is white upper middle class ideological preening which actually hurts black people (among whom the murder rate has skyrocketed with declining law enforcement).

The conservative approach should be appealing to blacks. Barnette can make it so. She’s got this Republican’s vote.
