I’m sure the dad served his country well, but he’s bitter by his own admission. There’s a right time and place to tell your kids what they don’t want to hear, and he picked the wrong time and place. He’s as “whingy” as any of the kids.
I think you’re on to something. Our side needs to play fair. Their side uses the leverage of our goody-ness against us AND plays dirty. What do we do? We are “better,” but we lose. This is an ethical dilemma.
