Every year, the American Bible Society and Barna Group rank 100 of the nations most Bible-minded citiesthat is, how many people read the Bible at least once a week and who strongly believe the Bible is accurate. And every year, cities from the Bible BeltChattanooga or Birmingham or Knoxvillecome in first, while cities from the coastsSan Francisco or Boston or Albanycome in last.
Its all fairly predictable, except for one city: Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Cedar Rapids, the second-largest city in Iowa, has ranked in the bottom five for the past four years, and its percentage of Bible readers and believers keeps going downfrom 17 percent in 2014 to 15 percent in 2015 to 13 percent in 2016. Barna measures by media market, so Cedar Rapidss numbers include nearby Waterloo, Dubuque, and Iowa City.
Oh my FRiends. Such findings show us how PRAYER is needed for our land. And how we need Christ’s people to SHOW and TEACH the truth of His Word, His love and His mercy to the lost and dying.
And the sooner that we do that, the sooner we will reach the fullness of the gentiles.
Liberal eastern Iowa. Throw in Iowa City and its not surprising at all. Iowa City. The San Francisco of the Midwest.
All in God’s Hands. I am thinking more of how our society could be regenerated with the Gospel truth.
For all of our political advances, it is nothing without a spiritual Revival.
It makes sense. The Upper Midwest Hell Portal is just outside of Cedar Rapids, right?
Amen.
The radiation fallout will hit this area, bigtime.
DC.
NYC.
Boston.
Chicago. (the Iowa, down-stream contamination)
Seattle.
SF.
LA.
Cedar Rapids was settled by Czech, Slovak, Bohemian and other Catholic ethnic groups.
Probably because of the new pool hall.
Trouble in River City!
(With a capital 'T'!)
Why them? I don't get it.
Am I being obtuse? Why IOWA?
That rhymes with P that stands for POOL!!!

Catholics don’t read the Bible.
Answered upthread: Heavily Catholic.
(With a capital 'T'!)
And that rhymes with "B"
And that stands for "Book".
Lol. I guess you've questioned ALL Catholics on the planet, all 1.2 billion of us. Gee, you must have gathered LOTS of information.
However, at daily Mass we have FIVE Biblical readings. [Sundays there always a "second reading" so there are SIX Biblical readings on Sundays.]:
Example for a weekday:
February 14th:
First reading: Acts: 13:46-49
Responsorial psalm: Psalm 117
Alleluia: Luke 4:18
Gospel: Luke: 10: 1-9
Communion antiphon: Mark 16:20
This is DAILY. Each day is different. The cycle repeats after three years.
Also, non-Catholics are allowed to interpret the Word of God as they like. Not so with Catholics. The Word of God was meant to be interpreted only one way.
Non-Catholics may also IGNORE God's Words like they do about the sin of divorce-remarriage=adultery: The Teaching of Jesus on Divorce (Matthew 19:3-12, Mark 10:2-12).
And, am I NOT allowed to repeat? or, "Three-peat"?
Isn't this the FREE Republic?
.
But, I do get your point.
Where Hillary goes to chill out!!
Sorry, I wasn’t objecting. Just reinforcing the opinion.
Cedar Rapids is very Catholic, as high a percentage as Boston. Catholics in eastern Iowa are the reason Iowa has trended Democrat in the recent past.
Iowa in general has a higher proportion of mainstream liberal denomination adherents than the US average. Iowa’s touted Evangelicals are influential because of hard work, not because of numbers
