I was reading through a monthly summary of prescription drug benefits of a family member. And I saw this notation in section 4 regarding updates to the plan’s drug list. It says that beginning November 1, 2021 “prior authorization“ will be required for ivermectin. And that the insured or their doctor will need to get approval from the plan before they will agree to cover the drug for that insured individual. Now, I am not sure how difficult they will make it to get the preapproval, but this certainly smacks of more corporate practice of medicine, And more layers of...

On Friday, the SEC announced that it had “removed” William D. Duhnke III from the PCAOB and designated Duane M. DesParte to serve as Acting Chair, effective Friday. ... While the vote tally was not released, in light of their joint statement, it’s evident that Commissioners Hester Peirce and Elad Roisman voted against the action. Their statement objected not just to the removal of Duhnke, but also to the intent expressed to replace all five PCAOB members, including members whose terms have not yet expired:

How many times have we heard that there needs to be a mechanism for warning about threats and dangerous situations? And how many times have we learned that warnings were ignored and mass casualties resulted? The most classic example coming to my mind was when the Minneapolis FBI Agent-in-Charge was concerned about Middle-Eastern men who wanted to learn to fly large jet planes. And the folks at HQ said, "aw, its nothing to worry about". On the other hand, we have had numerous "prank" swattings where cops are sent out in full gear in a targeted attack on a non-violent,...

Those “flushable” wipes you put down the toilet may have to be removed by hand from the city sewage equipment they clog. The cleansing cloths, dubbed “flushable wipes,” are marketed for post-toilet use but are typically not biodegradable. They do not dissolve like toilet paper does when flushed, and once in the sewer system, they can clump together and cause problems. It’s a mess Rod Chervus, the collections and conveyance manager for Lexington’s sanitary sewer department, has been dealing with for several years, and it’s getting worse. “If it says ‘flushable wipe,’ don’t believe it. Don’t flush it down the...

A public relations consultant for the Broward school district apologized Tuesday after a video surfaced in which she described critics of the district in the Parkland massacre as “crazies” and a reporter as “skanky.” Sara Brady, who was paid nearly $75,000 to assist the district after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, told an audience of public relations professionals last July that critics of the school district’s controversial Promise program, which allowed students who commit minor crimes to avoid jail, were “crazies.” She criticized an unnamed reporter who routinely covers the district as “just a jerk” and then...
