Yes, a non-PC, clear understanding of one's own identity and culture is becoming rare in the west. Let's see what this quote would look like if said by a PC American general:

"Diversity is strength, and we must understand that our cultures are equal, and neither is superior. We must win the hearts and minds of the Uighur, lest we embolden the Uighur terrorists. I vote for brutal police and military intervention.
