    Can you name all the organisms in the ocean? Do they not exist because you have not heard about them?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Lets use your logic...
    Can you name all those who have suffered PVS? Do they not all exist because you have not heard about them?
    Is it right that her soul, if still with her, should be allowed to suffer and not be one with God again?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Based on that logic, we should all just end it now because death is such a beautiful thing.

    Ill pass on your Kool Aid stand, thanks.

    Not at all. Given your line of faulty reasoning, we should disconnect all those who are getting feeding intravenously. Is that what you think is "humane"?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Oh, Mr.Lad, I have a beautiful little two year old you need to meet. Fed by G~tube 21.5 hours a day.
    I think she would disagree with you calling her a mere organism.
    I don't think it is money. I have read that the parents have offered him a lot of money for guardianship and he refused.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Now, seriously think about that statement. If he did agree to this, it would shatter his "Greiving Husband" image and prove that he was only after the money. He is way to smart for that.

    LOL... come on... did he REALLY say that?
    ~~~~~~~
    not only did he say the things quoted above, he refered to her as a "rutabaga" (not sure how to spell that word, but you get the idea)
    He slammed on feeding tubes and "artificial life".
    Given his description of what "quality of life is, My daughter should have been put out of her misery along time ago according to him.
    But don't let the medical experts affect your judgement.
    You know better, don't ya?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Hey Jorge, Let me tell you a story.

    The rest of you who have heard my daughters story, go ahead and read on to the next post.. Jorge and I have some things to discuss about the "medical knowledge" of doctors.

    My daughter, at 7 months in utero, was diagnosed with Pompes Disease, now, assuming you dont know anything about this disease, it is a torturous vile disease, death is the result. They told me that my daughter would die within 2 weeks in utero, and that I should "merficully" End her life thru an abortion. I chose to get a second opinion. That doctor told me that my daughter did not have this disease, but did not know what she had, he also agreed that her life would end before she was born and that I should not do anything "Extra Ordinary" to try to preserve this fetus. I disagreed and did my own research. I requested to be put on Digoxin, the only heart medication that passed thru the placenta. Emmas heart, at this point, was 75% of her chest cavity. It was a long shot, but it was a still a shot. My daughter was in the last stages of heart failure and I was not willing to write her off just yet. I spent the rest of my pregancy in the hospital, on my side, 4 hours away from my family (my second opinion was in a different city). My daughter was born via Emergency C~section, which again was discouraged by my doctors, because I was putting myself thru an "uneeded operation" for a child who would die during or shortly after birth. I again disagreed and off to surgery we went. While in surgery, a nurse asked me to sign DNR papers, again, i refused. My daughter was born, granted she only whimpered, but she was alive. They asked me, while they were during CPR on her whether or not I wanted to put her on life support, i had just told them that I would not sign DNR papers, so I thought i had made myself very clear. I yelled at the top of my lungs "YES, for the last time I want my child to live".

    During the next 15 days, my daughter was on an ocsillator (high frequency vent, breathing over 200 breaths a minute mechanically). I was told she would die every day, was instructed by doctors daily that i should turn the machines off, that I should let her die peacefully, but you see, I knew my daughter, I knew her better than anyone else. I knew that this little girl had a fight in her that amazed me, and until she gave me the permission to let her die, I would fight for her to live. In those two weeks, I was told my daughter had over 15 different diseases or syndromes, all of which were fatal and WRONG. Every day I woke up I knew that another test result would prove these "medical professionals" wrong.

    After 15 days of sitting in a level 3 NICU, the doctors finally came to me and said "Mrs.George, we dont think your daughter is going to die, we need to transport her to another fascility"... my response was "Ya think? Ive been telling you this for over 2 weeks." Emma was transported to ACH in St. Petersburg Florida where she was immediately listed for transplant. We were told that the average wait for transplant for Emmas size and blood type was 2 weeks, but that they did not feel that she would make it that long. She lasted 4 months waiting for her new heart. She suffered a level 3 heartblock, heart rate was in the 20s, after having her heart shocked she opened her eyes and looked around as if to say "why the heck are you shocking me with that thing?" and started playing with her broviac line.

    My daughter, who was condemned to death 2 months before her birth, waited 4.5 months on life support for a donor heart, and now is a beautiful little two year old who happens to be fed by a G~tube 21.5 hours a day.

    Let me tell you about the "medical professionals". If I had listened to them, my daughter would have died long long ago. Do I trust their judgement, you bet your arse I do, Do I blindly hand my child over to them, not in a million years. They are not God, they make mistakes. In My daughters 2 years of life, I can count atleast 25 doctors who got it wrong.

    Blind faith is not something I give away freely. The best of the best doctors make mistakes daily.

    I am glad to see that you put such so much stock in the words of a mere mortal, I pray that you never are put in the position to have your faith shattered when they are wrong about one of your loved ones.

    Blessings,
    ~Heather

    Just emailed the senators, and already recieved a personal email back. My first email explained that his "no" vote was dually noted, and when it came time to vote, i would remember that he voted against my handicapped child... then Mr Antone replied, then my reply back.

    Heather,

    I did not vote against your handicapped child. I voted against bad public policy and government deciding who lives and who doesn't. I sympathize with the family, but government should not be making decisions on whether your family member lives or dies.

    Rep. Bruce Antone

    You are our voice, and when we make it abundantly clear what our voice is, you have an obligation to represent that.

    My daughter is fed by G`tube 21.5 hours a day, what is called a continuous feed, she would die without this machine. This story very well could have been my story, so in essence, you did vote against my child. I watched very closely last evening and today on who voted what and why. Your job was to represent the people, and you failed in that aspect.

    In essence, Mr. Antone, you did vote against my child, and every other handicapped/disabled person in this state. That, sir, was the point you seemed to miss, somehow. We made it abundantly clear what our voice was, and you failed to hear it.

    Respectfully,

    Here is my email to Malone. This is my 5th email to this lady in the last month.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    "How ironic it is. In the zeal to save the daughter of Bob and Mary Schindler, the protesters overlook the desires of other parents to love and protect their own children."
    ~Mrs. Malone
    Once again, I find myself replying to one of your stories. I debated whether or not to respond this time, because it seems despite my attempts, my feelings have fallen on deaf ears. But then I realized, my voice is just as powerful, just as loud, and just as passionate as yours.
    How Ironic is it that you can take a story, put a twisted slant on it, and side, once again, against the Schindlers. How Ironic is it that, once again, you have blamed a horrid situation on the wrong people, parents trying to provide their child with the protection of life.
    How Ironic is it, that once again, Mr. Schiavo is not mentioned in negative light in your article.
    How Ironic is it that at this point, I am sickened at the thought that you are using children to further your obvious need to twist and turn this story.
    Mrs. Malone, in case you do not remember me. I am the mother a child who is fed by a g`tube 21.5 hours a day. I am the mother of a child who every doctor (and some family members) gave up on before she was born. But most importantly, I AM A MOTHER.
    I understand that these parents have the right to protect their childrens innocence, but more importantly Mrs Malone, the Schindlers have a right to protect their daughters right to LIVE...
    Given the two situations, I choose the protestors... because at the end of the day, those parents get to take their children home and mold them and guide them. Terri no longer has that right.
    In your obvious need to defame the Schindlers, please remember that there are parents of children just like Terri who hold this fight very close to our hearts. Your columns are not only a slap in the Schindlers face, but they are a slap in ours.
    Respectfully Disgusted
    Senate debated it this morning, and voted to add an ammendment. It will go before the house possibly at 2:00 and then back to the Senate for a final vote.
    Then Gov. Bush will sign it into action, and the stay will be inforce.. but then Michaels attorneys will most likely file an appeal.
    There is a high liklihood tht nothing will be done for Terri until tomorrow morning, if all goes well.
    Just my view, I could be very very wrong, i pray that I am.
    anyone else have any other input?
    They are replaying the House meeting last night at www.WFSU.org (click internet and webcam)
    Then they will replay the Senate Mtg from this morning.
    Here is the sad part of this, and this is from speaking to the reporter at WFSU.org. This bill very well could not effect Terri until tomorrow. Once the bill is signed (will not happen, as of now, until 6:45 meeting of the Senate)it must be signed by the governor and then he can issue the stay, BUT there will be blocks thru the court system by Michael.
    In essense, this is FAR from over.. the best thing that can happen to Terri right now is that the House/Senate would issua Guardian AD Litem (sp) for terri until this is decided.
    Again, they are showing the feed from the HOuse meeting last night at www.WFSU.org (go to the internet tab, then to the first selection on the pull down bar, webcam)
    It is being discussed right now. It is on www.WFSU.org, has been on since 8 am. They have made an admendment to the bill, but will not vote on the bill right away, I will update when they do vote.
    You can go to www.WFSU.org go to the internet tab, and click on the first option Florida Channel Webcast. I cant link it for some reason.
    I am going to call the station and ask for a breif of the session, which I dont think I will have a problem getting.
    I will post it here as soon as I get it.
    So, yes, they did meet, they made an ammendment to the bill (not sure what that ammendment is as of yet) and will vote on the bill soon, but not right way (meaning not within the next hour).
