The crack down at the NC DMV is just a show by the incumbent Democrat. He is responding to the campaign claims of Sen. Fern Shubert's campaign for Governor. They will no longer accept embassy documents but they will continue to accept taxpayer ID numbers.

Senator Shubert has had an impact and every other GOP candidate has picked up her issue on the licenses. Incumbent Governor Mike Easley released a plan on New Years to stop our DMV from accepting Matricular Consular documents for licenses.

This change does not go far enough, it is just to respond to Shubert's campaign which is gaining momentum.

Several members of our campaign are regular readers and posters on FR. This ID only focuses on Senator Fern Shubert's campaign. We do check the responses and try to respond as much as possible. There are times during the campaign when we can't dedicate as much time to the forum as we would like.

Forums like these are helping a great deal as we try to break through the liberal media blockade on this issue.

We are making progress and more people are hearing the message. Every other candidate in this race, including the incumbent Democrat is responding to this issue.

There is lots of information availible at www.ForFern.com about Senator Shubert's campaign platform including jobs, eduction, and roads.

We will be more than happy to answer questions and provide more platform issues here if the forum community would like.

Senator Fern Shubert has a great chance of winning the primary. She is the lone female candidate in a 6 way primary race. She also has the best geographical advantage of being closest to the most Republican areas of the state. To top things off, she has a vast grass roots support system that is growing daily.

We just picked up an online poll that some of the other candidates found first. These things are not a real indicator of support, but if you would like to help us with a vote...please do at

We agree with the security concern comment.

*** Since putting out this call for help to our fellow conservatives a battle has ensued on the n & O forum. Your help might help us to get this issue out. The response is astounding. Thanks for the cavalry! *** Staff

    Dear Forum Participants:

We are glad to see such energetic responses and debate about our campaign issue opposing Easley’s encouragement of illegal immigration in North Carolina. We are watching your posts carefully and wish that we could be more active. A lot of our resources are focused on the campaign kickoff event this Friday, Oct 3 in Monroe, NC.

We need to raise funds to get our message out in the state. Anyone here interested in attending is invited, but if you can’t attend we still appreciate your support. More details can be found at our webpage www.ForFern.com

On the issue of debate, it would be nice if the entire state could join our discussion. However, our press release that is at the top of this thread was sent to all major media outlets on Friday. The media responsiveness is very low and we are starting to believe that our press release is being suppressed by the major newspapers in Raleigh and Charlotte.

Many of the smaller publications around the state wait for these publications to act before they cover the news.

It is clear and apparent from the level of active discussion here that the readership of these publications would be highly interested in the contents of our release. We have more information that we need to release that might shock you.

We appreciate all of you that are participating, even those of you that are not in full agreement with our stance. We may ask for your help in 24 hours in encouraging these major publications to allow the general public to know what is going on.

If you would like to help and such help is necessary we will put up suggestions for you 24 hours from now. This call for assistance will be accompanied by a new release to the smaller independent news sources for help as well. Let us hope that these publications will accurately convey our issue to the public before then. Has anyone seen this information in your local media?

    Kind Regards,

    Senator Fern Shubert

We just wanted to let the Free Republic community know that some left wingers are trying to attack our campaign at the News & Observer forum.

If any of you would come to our aid, we would appreciate it. Of course the more posts, the more attention to our cause.

The census data from 2000 indicated that North Carolina had the largest increase in foreign born citizens of any state in America. The increase was over 273 percent, since 1990, and that is clearly an underestimate.

It is clear that NC has provided many incentives under the Dem administrations to attract illegal immigration to NC.

NC must do more to save our budget and communities.

Howard Dean's supporters are coming after us on the illegal immigration issue. They are trying to hit us on the Fayetteville web forum so far.

Anyone here that would like to help us? We want Senator Shubert's campaign to be tops on the Net here in NC. We could use some support on the electronic forums. If anyone is interested, please drop us a line at FernForGovernor@aol.com

    Dear NCSteve

Yes, yes and yes, but please don't take my word for it. Go to my web site, www.ForFern.com and read the Raleigh Reports I've been posting, particularly the last two, and read them in pdf format. Go the the legislative web site, www.ncleg.net and check my voting record. Contact the education reformers in the state; they'll know me.

I've already made a run at correcting abuses in state purchasing and contracting, but you can't solve that problem from the legislature. I've also done as much as anyone to push educational reforms, but again, the legislature's control in this area is more limited than you might imagine. The executive branch chooses the degree of enthusiasm with which they enforce the laws the legislatures passes. The old saying "Personnel is policy" has a lot of merit, and the Governor controls most of the personnel in government.

North Carolina is overdue for major reforms in many areas, including those you mention. I'm giving up a very safe Senate seat because I want to solve the problems facing this state and I've determined that I can do far more as Governor than from the Senate. A "bona fide conservative" is running for Governor and your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Fellow Republicans:

Thank you for your posts regarding my campaign. I will try to check the forum as often as possible and reply when I can. As you can imagine, I have a very busy schedule with the campaign.

I decided to run for Governor because something must be done to address our state's fiscal crisis. If we continue to borrow to spend more than we can afford, we will end up like California. I’m told their deficit is so big that if they fired every state employee (Teachers, Highway Patrol, Prison Guards, etc…) they would still have a deficit! We don’t want to follow their example of raising taxes and running off jobs.

We need a Governor that will take immediate action to reform our budget process and I believe my background as a CPA will help with that task. Most importantly, I have a plan that can help bring jobs to NC. I understand small business, which creates most jobs. I even won an award from the U.S. Small Business Administration as the accountant that did the most in the nation for small business. I also plan to focus on improving education and transportation.

I plan to address illegal immigration as a campaign issue. Were you aware that our DMV is giving out drivers licenses for illegal aliens? Governor Mike Easley has rolled out a red carpet to illegal aliens, encouraging them to come here, and it is costing North Carolinians their jobs.

North Carolinians are generous people, but we must put the needs and security of our families and our communities first. Illegal immigrants are placing a tremendous burden on our health, education, and criminal justice systems. Mike Easley’s policies make establishing a false identity easy in North Carolina and that is why we have a network that is bringing illegal immigrants, criminals, gangs, drug dealers, sex offenders, drunk drivers, and terrorists to our state.

Once again, I appreciate your interest and I enjoy reading the forum when I can. Please drop by my website at www.ForFern.com from time to time.

Would anyone here consider joining our campaign?

    Sincerely,

    Senator Fern Shubert
    Candidate for NC Governor
