RALEIGH, N.C. -- It is tougher than ever to get a North Carolina driver's license. In fact, new laws aim to make it impossible for some. It is all part of security measures meant to keep everyone safe, but not everyone is happy about it.

"I do believe we will find a way to deal with this whole demographic change," Manson said.

Well, we could start by sending several million of your illegal alien compadres back across the border where they came from, that'd deal with the demographic change quite nicely.

Just remember, Ms. Manson, they are not "undocumented workers" or "guest migrants" or whatever. They are "illegal aliens," with "illegal" being the key word, and they should be rounded up and deported back to their country of origin. Period.

One more case of a state attempting to rectify a problem which wouldn't exist of the Feds did their job.

"As a community of Latinos that are here working, we believe we are being unfairly punished," said Andrea Bazan Mason of El Pueblo.

Not if you came here illegally. Oh, but wait around. The President will wave his hand and you'll become a 'guest worker'.

Hooray for North Carolina. Now, if all the states do this, we may get a handle on who drives and who votes.

It's about time! However, they will just change tactics and get a license from another state and then apply here. I hope that all of the states start requiring real ID to keep the illegals off the roads.

Fair start . . .
Right direction . . .
Funny, it WAS called enforcing the law, now we are "toughening the rules."

Well, at least it is from the State. If the Fed comes along and throws weight around and tells NC they can't do this, ah la Cal. 187, well, we will know what the feds real agenda is.

Then, then who is going to mow the lawns, cut the trees, work the Mc Donald's drive thru's.

Why, we might have to start using welfare recipients. horrors

( Actually it might be 'horrors' as most of the workers from south of the border are hard workers, unlike most recipients.)

Actually, I don't doubt most of them are hard workers, I really don't. In fact, I think it would be a good idea to let more of them into the country *legally*, so they're paying taxes and in general earning the services they receive. But first, we have to close the borders, and then work on getting at least some of the illegals that are here, out.

If you look at individual stories of illegal immigrants, they're really not that much different from you and me--most of them have dreams and want to better themselves and will work hard to do it. That's fine. If there was a way to let the hard-working people into the country legally--the ones, like the immigrants of the turn of the 20th century, that will assimilate and become good, solid Americans--while keeping out the criminals and the lazy, I'd be all for it.

But, if you look at the big picture, we simply cannot keep letting these illegal immigrants flood our borders. The services they require are crushing localities and states, driving up the tax burden on everybody else.

If the NC-DMV is doing something, you can guarantee it will inconvenience taxpaying citizens the most! I'm still so mad at those people that I can't go back there! Still, I suppose if it makes the lines shorter, that would be something ...

Good post, Moose4.

I am by no means against legal immigration for those who want to come to the US and make a better life.
I have a personal insight on that, since my wife is a naturalized citizen.

The crack down at the NC DMV is just a show by the incumbent Democrat. He is responding to the campaign claims of Sen. Fern Shubert's campaign for Governor. They will no longer accept embassy documents but they will continue to accept taxpayer ID numbers.

For more info on the lady behind these changes.
