New York City Police are being warned against proactively policing in response to anti-discrimination legislation passed recently by the city legislature. The city council last month passed two bills that will make it easier to sue the NYPD for racial profiling, and did so with a veto-proof majority. In response, cops are being told to only answer radio calls and respond to crimes they see taking place – a big change from the proactive policing started in the 1990s under then-mayor Rudy Giuliani. The first bill, which creates an inspector general to oversee the department, passed 40-11, according to reports....

An Arlington Heights man is suing his local police department after officers came to his home and confiscated his antique firearms and his valid Illinois firearms ID card (FOID card) without a warrant following a session the man had with a therapist. In the lawsuit, Arthur Lovi, a 72-year-old Air Force veteran, claims the Arlington Heights police department — Arlington Heights is a suburb of Chicago and a village in the notoriously anti-gun Cook County — violated his Second and Fourth Amendment rights, causing him emotional distress. He is seeking financial damages for the anguish he experienced as a result...

As we now move into the official Political Aftermath period of the Boston bombing — the period that will determine the long-term legislative fallout of the atrocity — the dynamics of privilege will undoubtedly influence the nation’s collective reaction to the attacks. That’s because privilege tends to determine: 1) which groups are — and are not — collectively denigrated or targeted for the unlawful actions of individuals; and 2) how big and politically game-changing the overall reaction ends up being.---- .....“White privilege is knowing that even if the bomber turns out to be white, no one will call for your...

Anyone catch this show last night? It is definetely for a small market of viewers. Like me. I loved it. The content interests me. Of course, this coming from someone who's favorite TV program is Duck Dynasty. This show will never take off like Duck Dynasty, but I thought it was fairly entertaining. One reason I like it is because, as I was watching, I was thinking that the left is going to have a fit about these hunters are 'killing defensless deer". I say they are not killing defensless deer... they are killing delicious meat. Besides, the deer have...

Paul and Christina Gondreau of Johnston and their five children, including son Dominic who suffers from cerebral palsy, attended Easter Mass at the Vatican. An usher directed Dominic and his mother to an area designated for handicapped children, said Paul Gondreau, a theology professor at Providence College who is teaching this semester in Rome. When the pope's vehicle arrived, the usher motioned to the driver to stop...

When "Duck Dynasty" returned for its third season last week, it was greeted by an audience of 8.6 million viewers. Pretty good for an A&E reality series about bearded bayou brethren who manufacture duck calls and love to go bird hunting. Except that's not what "Duck Dynasty" really is. Viewers who have ducked this show thus far, assuming it's just another mocking redneck display on the order of "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," have it all wrong. And they're missing out. Nor, by the way, is this a show that has much to do with the duck-call business (life has...

For those who talk to God, please send prayers to Envisio family. I haven't had a very good relationship with God in a while.... I don't even remember how to pray or if they will be answered after all this time. I do know that comfort can come to those who believe they are being led by His hand. As I type, my stepdaughter is on a plane for Afghanistan. She will be joining the thousands of other men and women who are their to insure I can have the freedom to sit here and type this. She is there...

A San Francisco-based wireless company is unabashedly mixing its liberal political activism with business, a strategy that has won the praise of President Obama but not the confidence of marketing analysts. A San Francisco-based wireless company is working liberal political activism into its business plan in a unabashedly partisan marketing strategy that experts say could catch on in today's polarized culture -- but also could alienate many potential customers. The company, CREDO, even boasts that it has the support of President Obama as it markets itself as an agent of social change. It pitches its mobile phone services with a...

No world leader has ever surpassed the accomplishments of former South African President Nelson Mandela. So says actor Matt Damon, who plays rugby team captain Francois Pienaar in Clint Eastwood's Nelson Mandela film, "Invictus," which opens nationwide Friday. “Mandela convinced everybody to not go to war. That involves a lot of personal responsibility," Damon told Tarts at last week’s Los Angeles premiere. "South Africa had the greatest political leader in the world in our lifetime. Period.” The film covers the months in 1995 after Nelson Mandela was elected president of South Africa after decades of white apartheid rule, a time...

See if you all can help me figure out how to understand the mind of a liberal. These people have always thought of the Patriot Act as an intrusive measure put in place to protect us from a make-believe enemy and merely a way for our government to control us. Yet they lobby for congress to create “green” taxes, even “green” laws to stop something that people told them would kill us all. They think the Homeland Security Advisor System is a fear tool. They ignore its meaning and ignore messages from Al-Qaida calling for our death. Some even go...

Official thread to post our gratitude and our respect for Kimberley Munley and Amber Bahr. These two ladies were hailed by Lt. Gen. Bob Cone. Kimberley Munley was accredited shooting the jihad-bent lunatic and stopping the killing spree even after being shot herself. 19 year old Amber Bahr placed a tourniquet on a wounded soldier and carried him out to medical care. And only after she had taken care of others did she realize she had been shot. Don't let the leftist media turn this whole ordeal into pitty for (I won't even say his name). The real heros are...
