  • Enough! Attacks on Obama and Jeremiah Wright are ludicrous (MSM grasping at straws)

The problem is that Barack presented himself to the country as a post race candidate—able to go beyond race and unite us all. Heck, he said it:

“...more than any other candidate, I can bridge some of the partisan as well as racial and religous divides that have developed in this country that prevent us from getting things done.”

Obama conceded that he didn’t have the experience, but told us he had something more important: Judgment.

Well, sitting in that pew for 20 years while listening to that hate speech (protected yes, accepted no) is NOT good judgment.

Respectfully, you’ve done more to harm race relations in this country. Many of my friends, colleagues and business associates have echoed my feeling that I had no idea there were these kind of hate gatherings going on in this country.

Let’s hope most people understand that MOST Black folks DO NOT FEEL THE WAY “Reverend” Jeremiah Wright and his congregation feels.

Many Black people don’t know (these kind of) Black people at all too!

I’ll tell you this, most of my Black friends were shocked by this episode. I’ve spoken to a 1/2 dozen or so close friends, who happen to be Black, who could not believe what they heard. Only one of my friends had even heard rumors about “this type of Black preacher.” They were all in agreement that the churches they attend are “nothing like what Jeremiah Wright’s chruch was like.”

What really shocks me most is that Obama would be a member of a church, for 20 years, where his own (white) mother would likely be pretty uncomfortable.

re: “A real reporter, asking real questions...”

    EXACTLY!

Bill Clinton was partially right—this whole thing is nothing but a fairytale. The media coverage of Barack Obama’s run for the presidency, that is. Total fairytale.

Now a reporter has actually given him a quizzing worthy of someone running for POTUS and the guy crumbles.

Hat tip to Major Garrett. I saw it live and jumped out of my chair like a Trinity United member...I was really impressed with his direct inquiry of Obama with the simple, precise questions that we all wanted to hear the answers to.

It did sound like an interrogation or cross examinataion. As it should have. This is serious business.

Amazing to hear a media/BHO interraction with zero pandering. It was refreshing.

So far in this campaign, I’d agree with the previous poster (SF Mom), Obama has been masterful in his ability to have a boomerang like effect in terms of all criticism.

The issues with his pastor are different. Obama has made WORDS an important part of his campaign—and Rev. Wright’s words were divisive, degrading and disgusting. Barack has been the candidate of love; but his pastor preaches hate.

I don’t understand how he backs away from this one successfully, but I guarantee he’ll try.

The arrogance of Barack and Michelle Obama is striking, but nothing particularly new for those on the Left.

Think about it, most of them really have an air of superiority in everything they do and say.

I’ve especially noticed this from prominent Black lefties toward moderate or conservative Blacks. (i.e., Jesse Jackson or Rev. Al Sharpton on Condoleezza Rice and Clarence Thomas...)

    Disgusting.

In Barack’s case, it may be what turns the press against him. I have a friend on BHO’s plane. The general feeling among those embedded with the Obama campaign is that he’s “walled off” and provides very little (and highly controlled) access.

I agree! That's another reason to vote for her in TX and OH. The Dems LOVE Obama. Likewise, the Dems are sick and tired of the Clintons and their BS. The voter turn out with Hillary at the top of the ticket will be HALF of that if Obama wins the nom.

Put your hatred and frustration with the Clintons aside for another couple months.

It will be far more enjoyable to beat the pantsuit off of her ourselves rather than let another Dem do it.

I, on the other hand, am principled. The same principles that lead me to register as a republican are going to keep me from voting for McCain."

First of all, it's NOT falling in line, it's using your head and voting for the best of the available choices, which in this case is voting against the extremely DANGEROUS and, quite frankly, EVIL alternatives.

Secondly, not voting against these EVIL and DANGEROUS alternatives is NOT PRINCIPLED, it's PATHETIC. Seriously, did the "message we sent" in 2006 do any good?

The time to send a message is during the primary season. We did a LOUSY job of principled voting during the primaries and now we're stuck with a terrible choice.

The principled thing to do now is to prevent permanent damage to our nation by voting against these dangerous Democrats in 2008 and then actually BEING INVOLVED and HOLDING McCAIN and the other RINOs to the fire in 2009-2010, voting in a TRULY CONSERVATIVE Congress in 2010 and working hard in 2011 for a TRUE CONSERVATIVE nominee for 2012.

We let the media pundits pick our candidate. We let them tell us that Fred wasn't legitimate, that he was indifferent or detatched...we let them tell us Tancredo and Hunter didn't have a chance.

    BAD BAD BAD ON US.

But NOW, we have a choice between DANGEROUS EVIL and PAIN IN THE TUSH. I'll take PITA and hold his feet to the fire on immigration, etc., FAR GREATER than Dangerous Evil who will do the kind of damage that we may not be able to repair EVER.

    THAT is principled.

    Rush is absolutely right.

The folks who say, “Stop the Clintons now” or “Slay Hillary while you have the chance” are blinded by their hatred of and bitterness toward the Clintons to the point that they’d rather see Clinton lose than win the presidency.

Consider the reality. We have all had enough of the Clintons. Nobody wants them to win. But take an objective view of things and you have to acknowledge that Obama is FAR MORE DANGEROUS!

More importantly, Hillary will NEVER beat McCain. Won’t happen. Obama is the one who has increased the Democrat base, particularly on the young end. Almost every single primary broke the previous voter turn out records on the Democrat side. Look at those rallies with 20,000+ people screaming at Barack the Rock Star.

All that excitement would be instantly drained from the Democrat balloon the instant she won the nomination.

Not to mention the fact that EVEN IF YOU THINK OBAMA WOULD BE EASIER TO BEAT, voting for Hillary in OH and TX is NOT a guarantee that she’ll win the nom, just a guarantee that HILLARY AND BARACK will CONTINUE TO FIGHT for the next 3-4 weeks; possibly 3-4 months!

    THAT is the point.

Keep them fighting each other. Keep them on the ropes. Stall the unity. Delay the machine’s inevitable turn toward McCain.

Seriously, folks, VOTE HILLARY - it’s the logical play for our friends in TX and OH if you want to best help the Republicans hang on to the Whitehouse - and more importantly, win back the House and Senate. (Down voting will benefit the Dems greatly if Obama, and the excitement and shear numbers his campaign generates.)

    TRUE. Absolutely.

However, the time to fix that is not this year at the polls. The time to fix that is between now and 2012 when we get active and make our voice heard on who we're going to nominate next time.

...AND...in 2012, we DO NOT LET THE FREAKIN' MEDIA DECIDE WHO OUR CANDIDATE IS!

If some RINO wins IOWA, we make sure he doesn't win NH. And we vote for the real Republican despite the media telling us "he can't win" etc., etc., etc.

The mistake was made when the talking heads - INCLUDING the Fox All Stars - spoon fed us reasons why we couldn't vote for FRED THOMPSON.

We had the options this year. Duncan Hunter. Fred. Tancredo. Etc. WE DIDN'T VOTE THEM IN! We listened to the pundits. NEVER AGAIN PEOPLE! NEVER AGAIN! Got it?!!!!

McCain drives me CRAZY. I cringe thinking about voting for the guy.

However, Clinton or Obama would so truly infinitely worse, I don’t know that we would recover from it.

And I am NOT one of these guys who believes in “rallying around” someone “for the party.” This ain’t about the party. When I lived in California I did NOT vote for Arnold. I voted for Tom McClintock.

Last election cycle (2006) I was one of the disgruntled GOPers who stayed home. Boy, we really showed ‘em, huh? Huh is right.

This year, it’s too important. I wish McCain was an independent though b/c I don’t know that we want the “credit” for what he does. Still, whatever he does, no matter how bad it is, it would be way worse with Barack (or Hillary.)

And, with all due respect to Dr. Dobson and others, there is no possible rationalization for voting FOR this year’s Democrat candidate by not voting for this year’s GOP candidate—which—MAKE NO MISTAKE is EXACTLY what you are doing.

You vote for some 3rd party, or stay home and here’s what you get:

::: Veto proof congress for Barack
    ::: “Mandate” for Democrat Congress
    ::: “Mandate” for Barack
::: Ted Kennedy on the Supreme Court?
::: John Edwards on the Supreme Court?
    ::: John Edwards: Attorney General?
::: Secretary of Defense Wes Clark or John Murtha?
    ::: CIA Director Madelaine Albright
::: Secretary of State John Kerry
::: Homeland Sec Dir Tom Daschle
::: Supreme Court candidates: Charles Schumer; Bill Clinton; Hillary Clinton; Al Gore; 9th Circuit Court of Appeals members, etc.
::: A supreme court that rules like the 9th Circuit Ct of Appeals.
::: Fairness doctrine (No more Rush, Sean, Laura, Reagan, Savage, etc.)
::: 12-20 Million “normalized” illegal aliens voting in 2012 and forever there after. (Read: NEVER a Republican for next 2 generations.)

If those things suit your “conscience” well, then go ahead and “vote your conscience.” But I say, respectfully say you’re crazy!

Do I want to vote for McCain? Heck no! Believe me, I understand what you’re feeling. But instead of making your point this year, by casting a vote that will ensure a Fabian Socialist (at best) rules this land for 4-8 years, MAKE YOUR POINT IN 2012 by NOT ALLOWING THE MEDIA to pick your candidate. IGNORE the pundits and talking heads in 2012 and we’ll be just fine.

    Best,

    Ms. Thomas:

You know VERY WELL exactly what Sen. McCain meant by that. If you were in favor of McCain’s remarks, (i.e., if Obama, Clinton, Kennedy, etc., had made them) you would bend over backwards to explain it, defend it and berate the “cheap partisan intentions” of those who weren’t telling the whole truth of the story.

Sen. McCain referred to the fact that much like South Korea, Japan and Germany—where we have troops 50+ years after winning.

Ms. Thomas’ reporting on this matter is intellectually dishonest, it is intentional demagoguery, and it is a fine example of the “useful idiot.” Or, to be kind, perhaps a “purposeful operative.”

If she is none of the above, then she is intellectually challenged and should be paid to write for no credible news organization.

Ms. Thomas is not alone in the way she is spinning this quote (out of context, bad faith interpretation, etc.,) as the majority of the so-called “mainstream media” are echoing her storyline.

    Pathetic...but, sadly, nothing new.

That’s what they said about Bob Dole in 1996. :(

I saw Sen. McCain say, “I’m fired up and ready to go.”

Unfortunately, it was at the end of a speech that he read in monotone, in total “Senatorial Speak” - it’s like another language:

“My friends...blah...blah...blah...I love America...she will always be my first love...and my friends, blah blah blah...”

I do hope that Barack will be exposed for the snake oil salesman / weak poseur he is, but if the American public are as dumb as I worry they are, McCain’s monotone Senatorial Speak (complete with TelePrompTer mis-reads WAY WORSE than GWB) is going to make JM look like he’s 172 next to BO.

Seriously. I argue that McCain could choose to put aside his apparent need and affection for approval and adoration from the MSM. (big IF)

If we could somehow appeal to his Rushmore sized ego and persuade him that should he chose to govern as a true Reagan clone, he could be remembered forever as a real hero in the conservative movement and the Republican party.

I’ll tell you this...if there ever was a *chance* to make this happen, the circumstances are right.

There’s almost a perfect storm that make this *possible*—with the current president’s vp not seeking office, the GOP nominee being a moderate/liberal.

With the strength of Talk Radio, the New Media and, even to some extent, Fox News (at least being willing to give the movement a fair shake) we’d at least have a CHANCE.

The truth is, we’d need Rush, Sean, et al, to make the case, spread the word, rejuvinate the faithful, etc.

I agree that this year would likely be a wash, but it’s not *likely* to go our way anyway.
