SPARTANBURG, SC (Talon News) -- Liberal anti-Bush online political activist group MoveOn.org sent a warning message to its members this week regarding the upcoming ruling by the Federal Election Commission about the legality of so-called 527 groups accepting soft campaign contributions to run political ads."The Republican National Committee is pressing the Federal Election Commission to issue new rules that would cripple groups that dare to communicate with the public in any way critical of President Bush or members of Congress," MoveOn.org charged in an e-mail to supporters. In the e-mail, MoveOn.org attempts to scare "conservative, progressive, labor, religious, secular, social...

Old Kerry Quotes Unearthed By Matthew Reid "Where's the backbone of France?" No, that's not the name of the new Toby Keith CD. It's not some ill-timed remark from President Bush or even the title of a new book from Ann Coulter. That is but one of the provocative questions asked by Sen. John Kerry on CNN's Crossfire back in November of 1997. That comment, and others cited below, came during Kerry's vigorous defense against charges that the Clinton administration was sparring with member nations of the UN Security Council, including France and Russia. We now know that France was...

[Editorial] Sean, Sean, Sean... From the very minute that Arnold Schwarzenegger announced his candidacy for Governor of California, Sean Hannity's behavior has been more like a star struck groupie than a professional commentator or political pundit. Sean has admitted many times, on both his radio and television shows, that his views are much closer to those of State Senator Tom McClintock, the real conservative in the race. Yet, Hannity supports Arnold. He insists that he "hasn't endorsed anyone," but it's clear who his horse is in this race. Hey, we like Arnold too--and if McClintock wasn't running, we'd support him...

ALL ACCESS has learned that all CUMULUS Country stations have imposed a ban on all DIXIE CHICKS music until further notice. CUMULUS Dir./Programming BOB RALEIGH passed the word this morning in a company wide conference call. That directive came directly from company Pres. JOHN DICKEY. What will it take to get the CHICKS back on CUMULUS stations? JOHN DICKEY told ALL ACCESS: "It's a question of hypocrisy in my opinion. The DIXIE CHICKS have sold a lot of albums to the men and women and their families who are fighting overseas and they need to support those men and women,...

The real quote of the day came from this morning's edition of Meet The Press when moderator Tim Russert directed a question to Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi-D (CA) regarding whether or not Congress could pass a law in reference to the matter they were discussing. Pelosi, the House Whip, answered the panel by saying: "Congress can pass a law to do whatever it wants to do."

"...Where does (George) Lucas stand in this political polemic? "I'm more on the liberal side of things," he says. "I grew up in San Francisco in the '60s, and my positions are sort of shaped by that ... If you look back 30 years ago, there were certain issues with the Kennedys, with Richard Nixon, that focused my interest." Lucas' own geopolitics can sound pretty bleak: "All democracies turn into dictatorships—but not by coup. The people give their democracy to a dictator, whether it's Julius Caesar or Napoleon or Adolf Hitler. Ultimately, the general population goes along with the idea...

Un-Freakin-Believable Pathetic Warning: SOCIALIST PSYCHOBABBLE FOLLOWS... "It is a source of great satisfaction to me to be writing an introduction to our newsletter again. For all the years of my life I have heard \"important people\" lament their high taxes. As the CEO of a corporation still more \"important people\" keep me well informed as to the arcane methods used to reduce tax liability. For the first fifty or sixty years of this I agreed with them. About thirty years ago I raised the question with myself about what my low taxes were bringing me. Today more than ever before,...

Did anybody else see 60's leftover Gloria Steinhem on Newsnight on CNN? Willow Bay was the guest host interviewing Ms. Steinhem. The transcript has not been posted on the CNN website yet, but I will try to provide the basics from memory. Ms. Bay sat quietly never challenging the assertions of Gloria Steinhem during a segment where Ms. Steinhem accused President Bush of being "culturally insensitive" for not insisting that women be included in the new government in Afghanistan. Of course, the Bush administration has made this a major point of discussion over the past several weeks--including a major policy ...

Berkeley Resolution Proposes the U.N. Sue Afghanistan in Lieu of U.S. Bombs 10/15/01 (Berkeley-AP) -- Sparks will be flying tomorrow night when the Berkeley City Council votes on a controversial resolution condemning the US attack on Afghanistan. The resolution asks that letters be sent to President Bush and Congress to urge them to halt the bombing. The resolution says those responsible for the September 11th terror attacks should be brought to justice by having the United Nations sue Afghanistan for harboring terrorists. The measure was first presented last week as an emergency measure by Councilwoman Dona Spring -- but was ...

NOTE: The Democrats that are insisting on bi-partisan power sharing in the Congress are standing behind (literally) Joe Lieberman at a press conference, stating their unequivical support for Gore... ATTN: Lott, Hasterly, et al DO NOT SHARE POWER. These guys have been acting in a completely partisan way during this post election trauma. They are not acting in a Statesman like manner, how dare they tell us to.

DALLAS –– Three Texas voters have sued to block Gov. George W. Bush's election as president by challenging running mate Dick Cheney's status as a Wyoming resident. The lawsuit was filed hours after a similar lawsuit was dismissed in Florida. The suit filed Monday claims Cheney is a resident of Texas and that he and Bush, therefore, shouldn't be awarded the state's 32 electoral votes. The lawsuit cites the 12th Amendment, which prohibits the president and vice president from living in the same state. "Someone cannot be a resident of two states simultaneously," said Bill Berenson, the Fort Worth attorney ...

To: Republican Congressmen and Senators From: Matthew Reid 400 Second Street Suite 300 San Francisco, CA 94107 415-908-6560 Re: FLORIDA MANUAL RECOUNT Unconstitutional, Flawed and Unfair! Date: November 11, 2000 Important points regarding the manual recount: There is a margin of error in any election. To manually recount the ballots, affecting the margin of error in one or more counties that lean towards one particular candidate is patently unfair. The people who reside in counties where ballots are not manually recounted are subject to their vote being diluted by the margin of error. In other words, to manually recount the ...
