Why unite with McCain? He never united with us

Posted on 02/24/2008 10:37:58 AM PST by WyCoKsRepublican

Senator John McRINO aka John McCain is seeking the conservative base to unite with him. Many of us haven't forgotten that he never united with us. Whether it be on his kneepads courting Ted Kennedy or spearheading the ramming of amnesty down our throats, we haven't forgotten. This election offers little or no choice. In the words of Billy Preston "Nothing from Nothing Leaves Nothing."

My sober suggestion:

Support Mike Huckabee and keep supporting him.

Yep. I thought Bill Clinton being elected would end the world in 1992. I believed he’d raise the hammer and sickle over Washington. But the GOP cared so much that they nominated Bobdole in 1996, a relic moderate with the personality of a dustpan. Hey, reminds me of this year.

I was a lot younger when I forced myself to vote for Viagra Bob, and the party establishment and these Rino’s never stop trying to force even more putrid candidates on us.

Each cycle we are told to vote for crappy moderate weeny Republicans or else the sun won’t rise tomorrow. Last time I voted GOP and still got blamed for the loss around here because I don’t like Bush.

No way I will support McCain. Let the traitorous bum lose. The Rino’s think everybody agrees with them anyhow. They don’t need us for their glorious candidate to win.

John McCain was a jerk in 2000.

He is a jerk today.

He will be a jerk tomorrow.

Ron Paul is my write-in candidate for 2008.

1984 is the last election I ever voted FOR the candidate, and enough’s enough. John McCain is the last straw. I find him unacceptable on so many levels there is just no way I can do it. I abhor what he did to the MIA/POWs and their families. I feel like screaming every time some mindless drone parrots the line, “He supports the troops.” Nobody who really knows McCain’s history believes that for one minute. I’m disgusted by his personal life and the situation surrounding the dissolution of his first marriage, especially since he’s supposed to hold the Republican banner as the family values candidate. Yep, an admitted adulterer, way to go, Pubbies. And don’t get me started on the policy issues. McCain is a repugnant human being who has left a wake of destruction his entire life, destruction of his family, destruction of his party and destruction of the Constitution he swore to uphold.

If McCain were the Democrat nominee he would be universally reviled on this forum, and Freepers would be vociferously urging each other to support the Republican nominee so that McCain wouldn’t win. But to too many Freepers, their team winning is everything.

"Ron Paul is my write-in candidate for 2008."

Not me! I'm writin in Dick Cheney!!! (Pinging David Gold to his "second home!")

The rest of your statements are quite right!!! (and it's not some syndrome of compulsive hatred of McCain, either David)

McCain drives me CRAZY. I cringe thinking about voting for the guy.

However, Clinton or Obama would so truly infinitely worse, I don’t know that we would recover from it.

And I am NOT one of these guys who believes in “rallying around” someone “for the party.” This ain’t about the party. When I lived in California I did NOT vote for Arnold. I voted for Tom McClintock.

Last election cycle (2006) I was one of the disgruntled GOPers who stayed home. Boy, we really showed ‘em, huh? Huh is right.

This year, it’s too important. I wish McCain was an independent though b/c I don’t know that we want the “credit” for what he does. Still, whatever he does, no matter how bad it is, it would be way worse with Barack (or Hillary.)

And, with all due respect to Dr. Dobson and others, there is no possible rationalization for voting FOR this year’s Democrat candidate by not voting for this year’s GOP candidate—which—MAKE NO MISTAKE is EXACTLY what you are doing.

You vote for some 3rd party, or stay home and here’s what you get:

::: Veto proof congress for Barack
::: “Mandate” for Democrat Congress
::: “Mandate” for Barack
::: Ted Kennedy on the Supreme Court?
::: John Edwards on the Supreme Court?
::: John Edwards: Attorney General?
::: Secretary of Defense Wes Clark or John Murtha?
::: CIA Director Madelaine Albright
::: Secretary of State John Kerry
::: Homeland Sec Dir Tom Daschle
::: Supreme Court candidates: Charles Schumer; Bill Clinton; Hillary Clinton; Al Gore; 9th Circuit Court of Appeals members, etc.
::: A supreme court that rules like the 9th Circuit Ct of Appeals.
::: Fairness doctrine (No more Rush, Sean, Laura, Reagan, Savage, etc.)
::: 12-20 Million “normalized” illegal aliens voting in 2012 and forever there after. (Read: NEVER a Republican for next 2 generations.)

If those things suit your “conscience” well, then go ahead and “vote your conscience.” But I say, respectfully say you’re crazy!

Do I want to vote for McCain? Heck no! Believe me, I understand what you’re feeling. But instead of making your point this year, by casting a vote that will ensure a Fabian Socialist (at best) rules this land for 4-8 years, MAKE YOUR POINT IN 2012 by NOT ALLOWING THE MEDIA to pick your candidate. IGNORE the pundits and talking heads in 2012 and we’ll be just fine.

Best,

Matthew Reid

TRUE. Absolutely.

However, the time to fix that is not this year at the polls. The time to fix that is between now and 2012 when we get active and make our voice heard on who we're going to nominate next time.

...AND...in 2012, we DO NOT LET THE FREAKIN' MEDIA DECIDE WHO OUR CANDIDATE IS!

If some RINO wins IOWA, we make sure he doesn't win NH. And we vote for the real Republican despite the media telling us "he can't win" etc., etc., etc.

The mistake was made when the talking heads - INCLUDING the Fox All Stars - spoon fed us reasons why we couldn't vote for FRED THOMPSON.

We had the options this year. Duncan Hunter. Fred. Tancredo. Etc. WE DIDN'T VOTE THEM IN! We listened to the pundits. NEVER AGAIN PEOPLE! NEVER AGAIN! Got it?!!!!

I’m hoping that the threatened third party, if a pro-life candidate does not get nominated, still materializes so I can vote for someone.

Great post! I agree with all you said. My nose will be held, but I will vote for McCain. Hopefully by November the conservatives who say they will be “stay homers”, or “write iners” will also help save our country and vote for McCain.

When you can win Wyandotte County, or maybe even an election in your own state of Kansas, then you may have enough clout to tell us how and who we should support.

Conservatives to McCain:

All Ready Gone
by The Eagles

Well, I heard some people talkin just the other day
And they said you were gonna put me on a shelf
But let me tell you I got some news for you
And you'll soon find out its true
And then you'll have to eat your lunch all by yourself

'Cause I'm already gone
And I'm feelin strong
I will sing this victory song
woo, hoo,hoo, my, my, woo,hoo,hoo

Yeah, I'm not a noob as my sign-up date indicates.

And I am well aware that McCain is liberal on quite a few issues like immigration and campaign finance, ESPECIALLY when it comes to trying to silence THIS WEBSITE. Some of his stances on the issues are even contradictory, like gay marriage and taxes. But he has shown to be conservative on lots of issues like National Security, gun rights, corporate regulation, education, health care, social security reform...

If McCain would just line up on immigration and campaign finance, I'd have no problem voting for him. As it is, I am modestly suspect of him.

Will you?

No. I can do my own research and I'm not interested in your scores of links, which have been posted ad nauseum.
