I am soliciting your prayers. My brother's (Neil E. Wright) and my mother is extremely close to death right now. We are not sure she'll last another couple of days. I am soliciting your prayers for her and for the family. This is very trying for all of us, as losing a mother is one of the most difficult things I can imagine happening. (Losing a spouse is the other one.) And, naturally, it's something we have NO experience in doing. So we are learning as we go... and it's not fun, as many of you know. Please pray that...

On Sunday, August 3, 3008, I am calling for a National Day of Prayer and Repentance. America has turned its back on God and I fear God has turned His face from us. Christians and Jews, we are the last "minority" it's safe to scorn and mock. No longer. It is time for us to reclaim our rightful Godly heritage and help return our nation to its ROOT, in the one, true God. Let us get on our knees on August 3, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time (7:00 a.m. Pacific) - at the same moment across the nation -...

Police: 'You fit the profile' By BRENDAN J. LYONS Senior writer First published: Sunday, March 2, 2008 ALBANY-- The cops in the marked patrol car had circled through West Hill a couple times keeping an eye on their female target. They were part of the Street Drug Unit, an aggressive squad assigned to help rid Albany's neighborhoods of drug dealers and addicts blamed for much of the city's problems. It was early evening and already dark when the patrol car's emergency lights flashed in the rearview mirror of Lisa Shutter's Mitsubishi sedan on Quail Street, just off Central Avenue. Police...

Giving away our constitutional rights By Kevin Eggers Napa Monday, February 18, 2008 American freedom is the ideology that English philosopher John Locke described in his “Second Treatise,” greatly influencing Thomas Jefferson, who, in a 1789 letter to painter John Turnbull, said that Locke was one of the three greatest men who ever lived: Jefferson having penned Locke’s idea of freedom into America’s Declaration of Independence that all people are born with unalienable rights, a birthright to freedom that is above any form of government. Our founding fathers lived through the tyranny of an unchecked monarchy, where laws, rights and...

  • Denying Muslims Visas

Immigration: Ron Paul may be a fringe presidential candidate, but Muslim student visas is no fringe topic. It threatens homeland security, and the Republican gadfly deserves credit for raising the issue. In a controversial ad that's sending his libertarian fans into orbit, Paul proposes tough new immigration policies, including denying visas to Muslim students from terrorist states. Paul, a congressman from south Texas, also proposes ending "birthright citizenship," which allows the children of Middle Eastern and other illegal immigrants to stay in America. Such anchor babies now include the offspring of jailed or deported terrorists.

In a remarkable capital murder case earlier this year, the Mississippi Supreme Court, by an 8-to-1 vote, tossed out the expert testimony of Steven Hayne. The defendant was Tyler Edmonds, a 13-year-old boy accused of killing his sister’s husband. Hayne, Mississippi’s quasi-official state medical examiner, had testified that the victim’s bullet wounds supported the prosecution’s theory that Edmonds and his sister had shot the man together, each putting a hand on the weapon and pulling the trigger at the same time. “I would favor that a second party be involved in that positioning of the weapon,” Hayne told the jury....

I need help finding former Marines who served (at any time) with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 769. According to an email I received from a currently serving officer there, it is to be disestablished in September. It would be great to find others who served with it and who might have photos and memorabilia which can be made part of the last cruise book for the squadron when it is stood down. I will post updates as available and I am planning even now to attend the decommissioning ceremony.

  • Did the U.S. Contribute in ANY Possible Way to Islamists' Attitudes Prior to 9/11?

This is a question which requires a lot of thought and introspection. I realize and understand that many of you are pure knee-jerk, but try. Did the United States and the Federal Government in ANY way contribute to 9/11? Were our policies in the mid-east in any possible way factors which allowed a nutjob like Osama Bin Awful to recruit moonbats who were and are willing to die to kill "infidels," whether in the U.S. or overseas? If you say "no,' I ask for clear evidence to back you up. If you say "yes," then to what DEGREE did our...

David WrightApril 23, 2007Editor, Vallejo Times-HeraldVia e-mail Dear Editor: I reacted with considerable horror at the atrocity (not tragedy, as that term should be reserved for natural phenomena or accidents) at Virginia Tech last week... Not just at the evil of the wanton murders, but also the circumstance which ensured that Cho could complete his dirty work and at the predictable response from the political class and its supporters in the old-line media. There were calls for the resignation of VA Tech's president, but none for the right reason: his support of the ban on firearms on campus, whether owned...

Government   The BIG LIE   The first time that some friend tells you to try government as a solution to a problem, it sounds like a good idea. Maybe it will get your neighbor to act the way you want him to. Maybe it will get you an education or some health care.             It sneaks up on you, a little at a time, at first. You think one little government program won’t hurt. Government helps you and you don’t have to pay for the help. A pretty good deal.             But one day it dawns on you:...

May 4-8 the Moving Wall will be making its third appearance at the Veterans' Home in Yountville. It will be open 24 hours a day throughout the days it will be there and the VA Vets Centers will have counsellors on site throughout the visit. Opening ceremonies will take place at 1800 on the 4th of May. All veterans and their families are welcome, I'm sure, but it will be of special importance to us Vietnam Veterans. I plan to be there Thursday. Perhaps some other Bay Area Vietnam Veterans can show up and join me.

After September 11, many in the Muslim world chose denial and hallucination rather than face up to the sad fact that Muslims perpetrated the 9-11 terrorist acts and that we have an enormous problem with extremism and support for terrorism. Many Muslims, including religious leaders, and “intellectuals”...

Dear Statist Friends: I know, I know. You’re already objecting to my letter. You don’t like the label “statist.” You don’t think of yourselves as worshipping government; rather, you think of yourselves as simply wanting to help people, with government being your preferred means to achieve what is usually a very worthy...
