Sandwiched between scholars and celebrities at the Essence Music Festival on Saturday stood pre-Katrina gadfly Sandra Wheeler Hester, who earned the nickname "18-Wheeler" as a relentless critic of New Orleans public school leaders and anyone else who raised her hackles.

There was just an incredible exchange between Chris Matthews and Pat Caddel. When asked about the effectiveness of Gore's remarks tonight, Caddel really opened up about the fraud of selectively recounting votes. He also referred to Congressman Markey's comments a few minutes earlier as the most incredibly racist thing he had heard in ages. (Markey insinuated that Republicans were attempting to prevent African-American votes from being counted.) Chris Matthews got really flustered and cut Caddel off before he could finish his point.

Brokaw just had a piece on the felons and noncitizens who voted in Florida. The piece showed at least two nonqualified people who voted and cited a major problem with the voting roles. I don't like Brokaw, but this piece was good.

MSNBC just reported that their poll shows Bush ahead of Gore by 2% in California. Then they went on to say that they didn't believe it and it probably wasn't correct.
