There is an old saying in Poland, that the country represents the walls of Christianity. Certainly Jan Sobieski III met this standard in 1683, defeating the Turkish armies outside the gates of Vienna. Since then, history has imbued Poland and its people with a host of symbolic meanings, including that of a bastion against Nazi Germany and Soviet Communism. This symbolism was readily apparent when President Donald Trump spoke in Warsaw on his way to the G-20 summit last week. Trump could have flown directly to Hamburg, or stopped in any other European city on the way, but he chose...

Pres. Barack Obama's former national security adviser, Susan Rice, will testify before the House intelligence committee in July, according to CNN. In the past few months, allegations that Rice revealed the names of Trump's transition aides in intelligence reports have risen, and Republicans have taken to bat with this. Some allege that the Obama administration wanted to divulge damaging information about the Trump campaign. In an interview with CNN, Rice forcefully denied doing anything wrong, saying the President's charge is completely wrong. Susan Rice pulling the race and gender card for criticisms of her time in office and why she...

<p>The Office of U.S. Special Counsel, the government’s main whistleblower agency, is investigating whether FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe’s activities supporting his wife Jill’s Democratic campaign for Virginia state senate in 2015 violated the Hatch Act’s prohibition against FBI agents campaigning in partisan races. The agency’s probe was prompted by a complaint in April from a former FBI agent who forwarded social media photos showing McCabe wearing a T-shirt supporting his wife’s campaign during a public event and then posting a photo on social media urging voters to join him in voting for his wife. “I am voting for Jill because she is the best wife ever,” McCabe put on a sign that he photographed himself holding. The photo was posted on her social media page a few days before the election, in response to Dr. Jill McCabe's plea to “help me win” by posting photos expressing reasons why voters should vote for her, according to the complaint.</p>

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The owner of one of Canton’s most popular waterfront restaurants, The Boathouse, says more than 30 immigrant workers left in fear after a Department of Homeland Security worker hand-delivered a letter demanding documentation of their immigration status. That stunned the eatery’s customers. “It seems like terrorizing people who are trying to work at the restaurant,” says customer Michelle Zhang. “It’s not only bad for for the business but it’s bad for the families.” “If that many left… are they not following the policy?” asks Ryan Horan, another customer. “Are they not doing it the way they should...

A GOP donor who once had ties to IBM is the man behind the millions of Twitter bots President Trump counts on as followers who could be employed to target voters with misleading or fake news on social media. In order for it to work, the scheme relies on the quiet guidance of Robert Mercer, a reclusive Republican mega-donor and staunch Trump supporter, sources told the Daily News. Mercer, who during the campaign with help from his daughter Rebekah, played a below-the-radar — but integral — role in raising money for Trump and connected him with critical figures like Stephen...

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Speaking in Youngstown, Ohio, on August 15, 2016, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump gave a speech on what he unequivocally referred to as “radical Islam.” He declared: Nor can we let the hateful ideology of radical Islam—its oppression of women, gays, children, and nonbelievers—be allowed to reside or spread within our own countries . . . [W]-e must use ideological warfare as well. Just as we won the Cold War, in part, by exposing the evils of communism and the virtues of free markets, so too must we take on the ideology of radical Islam. Our administration will...

The director of the CIA has warned US President-elect Donald Trump that ending the Iran nuclear deal would be "disastrous" and "the height of folly". In a BBC interview, John Brennan also advised the new president to be wary of Russia's promises, blaming Moscow for much of the suffering in Syria. In his campaign, Mr Trump threatened to scrap the Iran deal and also hinted at working more closely with Russia. Mr Brennan will step down in January after four years leading the CIA. In the first interview by a CIA director with the British media, John Brennan outlined a...

Having difficulty with my PC. My machine has been acting up a bit lately. I use Firefox as my browser (no noticable problems when I use IE). Pages are slow to closeout and/or parially remain on the screen as I transition from one page/function to another. The biggest distraction is that it woon't shutdown or restart properly. I have to shut the powersource off to get it to turnoff. I still have access to the task manager function, so I'm confused as to whether or not its a bug. I run Norton/Symantec Protection Center. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

My wife and I were just discussing the erosion of Christian values throughout the country, namely the decision to ban the Ten Commandments from the courtroom. Has there been an attempt to remove the Bible from the courtroom? As far as I know, swearing to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, with a hand on the Bible is still the practice. Interesting that this practice has yet to be attacked as a violation of Separation of Church and State.

I've seen several unfamiliar flag-type stickers on cars lately. They are rectanguar in shape with three equal horizontal stripes. The top and bottom stripes are black and the middle stripe is blue. Does anyone know what it represents, or refers to? Thanks.

Dear Friends, I had dinner recently with a well-known pollster who had often worked for Republicans. He told me that when he went to see "Fahrenheit 9/11" he got so distraught he twice had to go out in the lobby and pace during the movie. "The Bush White House left open a huge void when it came to explaining the war to the American people," he told me. "And your film has filled that void -- and now there is no way to defeat it. It is the atomic bomb of this campaign." He told me how he had conducted...

The Department of Homeland Security issues terror warnings with such regularity that many believe them to be almost counterproductive. Many theorize some have gone soft in watching for signs that terrorists are among us, scouting for new locations to kill Americans, or practicing “dry runs” on American flights for future terrorist actions. That cannot be said for “Womens Wall Street” writer Annie Jacobsen. In an article published earlier this month Ms. Jacobsen describes in detail a harrowing flight that she and her family experienced on June 29 of this year. They were all on Northwest flight #327 from Detroit to...

Not only was William Tecumseh Sherman guilty of many of the crimes that some apologists portray as "tall tales," but also his specter seems to haunt the scandal-ridden halls of the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. Sherman had a relatively poor record battling armies. His lack of preparation nearly destroyed Union forces at Shiloh. He was repulsed at Chickasaw Bluffs, losing an early opportunity to capture Vicksburg, Miss. The result was a bloody campaign that dragged on for months. He was blocked by Gen. Pat Cleburne at the Battle of Chattanooga and needed to be bailed out by Gen. George...

Miami Herald April 8, 2004 We Must Act More Like A Nation At War By Joseph L. Galloway America is at war. It has been at war since Sept. 11, 2001, and may well remain at war for many years to come. It doesn't feel like we're at war, even though in the past year more than 600 Americans have been killed in Iraq. Perhaps, as the war in Iraq widens and the one in Afghanistan drags on, it would help us to become more like a nation at war, more like a people at war, if we thought about...
