Vice President Kamala Harris‘ former communications director floated a wild plan to make her the first female commander-in-chief — all President Biden has to do is resign.
Jamal Simmons, who served as part of Harris’ team from 2022 until 2023, urged Biden to step aside so that Harris could make history — even despite her massive defeat to President-elect Donald Trump.
“Joe Biden has been amazing but he should fulfill one last promise — to be transitional. Biden should resign and make Kamala Harris the first woman president,” Simmons posted on X.
“It’d turn [the] tables on Trump, keep Kamala from presiding over Jan. 6 make it easier for next woman to run.”
The former spox-turned-CNN commentator made a similar plea on air Sunday, prompting laughter from his conservative colleague Scott Jennings.
“It would dominate the news at a point where Democrats have to learn drama and transparency and doing things that the public wanna see is the time,” Simmons said on the air.
“This is the moment for us to change the entire perspective of how Democrats operate.”
Biden, 81, had already helped Harris, 60, make history when he tapped her to be the first female vice president. She is also the first black female and Asian American vice president in US history.

Wouldn’t turn the tables on Trump, it would turn the tables on Skunk Cabbage, who tried twice but was beating by Obama and Trump.
I thought it said excommunication director.
Nonetheless, how would that be “turning the tables” on Trump?
Coherent thought is not their strong suit.
OR - Biden could resign now, and let Trump get to work early.
I think the American people would prefer to CHOOSE to elect the first female president, rather than pulling a stunt like that in the immediate wake of her LOSING the election. And it wouldn’t matter one bit one way or another to Trump, who gets sworn in regardless of who is president prior to Jan. 20.
At this stage, the Bidens probably care less for Harris than Trump does.
Why would they want to ‘give’ her the presidency she could not win on her own?
That’s the scenario I’d rather see. Kamala thinks she could beat Trump? She’s at least half the reason he was elected.

Hopefully Biden has a food taster. Wouldn’t put it past Kamala to pull such a stunt.
I doubt Biden is inclined to go out of his way to help Democrats now. He threw his weight behind Kamala Harris when he pulled out, but I think that is all she can expect of him.
Biden is not going to taint what little legacy he has left by resigning in a cheap political stunt. Jill hates Kamala and would never allow it.

Biden (in his mind ) was denied 4 more years by the Democrats . Does anyone think he will voluntarily step down before his remaining days are up ?

Another consideration is that Jill Biden would never, never allow it.
She was dressed in MAGA red when she cast her vote for President Trump.
