Jim Bunning, the ever-shrinking junior Senator from Kentucky said something the other day that is completely right. When discussing how the Senate GOP leadership has been playing overtime with its desire to see Bunning retire next year, he said the following of his more-senior Kentucky colleague, Mitch McConnell, the Senate Minority leader: “Obviously. Do you want me to spell it out for you?…Do you realize that under our dynamic leadership of our leader, we have gone from 55 and probably to 40 (Senate seats) in two election cycles, and if the tea leaves that I read are correct, we will...

President Barack Obama, feeling quite certain that in 100 days he has remade the United States into the Utopian that he and Michelle have longed for, has forgotten one important point: he has done nothing of substance in his three plus months as our nation’s 44th president. The so-called economic stimulus has created not one job, just as the economy continues to lose them. The Obama plan(s) has done nothing to increase the nation’s GDP, but rather it continues to linger in recession (falling 6.1 percent in the first three months of 2009). The President’s allowance of government funding for...

The chattering in Harrisburg, Pa. and increasingly in Washington, D.C. is this: Pat Toomey will not be able to win the PA senate seat being held by Arlen Specter, now that the race will be held in a general election and not in the Pa. GOP primary. As such, the name of Pennsylvania's former governor Tom Ridge has popped to the surface as the one candidate that can beat Arlen Specter. Think again. Pat Toomey versus Arlen Specter would be the classic Conservative vs. Liberal type of campaign that the GOP, now in the minority, needs to take in order...

Next November, the GOP will try to recover from two consecutive round of losses in the U.S. Senate that saw their numbers go from a 55 seat-majority prior to 2006 to just a 41-seat minority after the 2008 elections. In 2010, the GOP will once again be defending more seats than the Democrats, 19 seats to 17. As of this writing, five GOP senators will be retiring versus just one for the Democrats. In tonight's first analysis, we will look at the following nine seats: Alabama - Richard Shelby (R), incumbent Shelby is seeking his 5th term in the U.S....

Arlen Specter is once again proving to the world that he is nothing more than a Democrat in RINO colors. With him signing on to the 2009 socialist manifesto, Specter's days in the U.S. Senate must (finally) come to an end. For this, we suggest turning to Pat Toomey, who in 2004 almost beat Specter in the Pennsylvania primary, if it weren't for a last minute plea by then-President George W. Bush, which propeled Pennsylvania's senior senator to a fourth six-year term. Toomey - who gave up his U.S. House seat in 2004 to run against Specter - is currently...

RINO Sen. Susan Collins was on the Today Show this morning (no link currently available) along with Sen. Ben Nelson this morning. Collins - who along with fellow RINOS Sen. Olympia Snowe and Sen. Arlen Specter - appeared drunk when explaining the many virtues of the impending socialist stimulus bill. If someone gets a link please let us know and we'll update this post.

The American people ushered in a Democratic president and with him, huge Democratic majorities in Congress and at this stage of the game the mainstreamers are blaming the GOP for the current state of the "stimulus" package? Hogwash. The One is president now and as such, he needs to lead. If Mr. Obama believes that this pork pile of Democratic interest monies is really going to infuse this economy, then he should leave the White House for a real trip (not to read to elementary school children because he is 'tired' of his dwellings) and talk to the American people...

Although the mainstreamers will never admit this, President Obama's poll numbers are going down, just one day shy of two weeks since The One's inauguration. According to the latest Rasmussen Presidential Approval Index, Obama has a +17 when you take the poll's number of those that "Strongly Approve" (41 percent) of Obama and subtract those that "Strongly Disapprove" (24 percent). This is Obama's worse showing since the inauguration, and worse number overall since he was elected president in November when partisanship was at an election season-high. Accordingly, it looks like for all of the talk of 'bipartisanship' being talked about...

Tim Geithner is Obama's new treasury secretary, after being confirmed 60-34 last evening in the U.S. Senate. In the end, it appears that Geithner's nomination received nominal GOP support thanks to two points: first, there was no telling who Geithner's replacement would have been (they could have been worse) if the confirmation was derailed and two, some GOPers remain spineless. Until our elected GOP members gain a spine and realize that their place right now is as a strong opposition and oppose bad nominations and bills, the party's troubles will certainly continue. Thirty-two Republicans voted against the nomination (as well...

Since President Obama never had to answer to the press as candidate Obama, yesterday's explosion in the WH press room was more than interesting and should bring smiles to us conservatives. Here was the newly minted U.S. president taking what he thought was a lovely stroll into the lion's den and finally something happened: the press actually asked Obama a real question: As the Politico documents: Asked how he could reconcile a strict ban on lobbyists in his administration with a Deputy Defense Secretary nominee who lobbied for Raytheon, Obama interrupted with a knowing smile on his face. "Ahh, see,"...

Here is the order closing Gitmo. We've include the key words here, where you will notice that "Individuals" are most important. Unfortunately, the individuals that Obama cares about and are in question are those that have been detained for trying and succeeding in killing Americans. Yes He can. Who is he protecting here? REVIEW AND DISPOSITION OF INDIVIDUALS DETAINED AT THE GUANTÁNAMO BAY NAVAL BASE AND CLOSURE OF DETENTION FACILITIESBy the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, in order to effect the appropriate disposition of individuals currently detained...

Tonight, President Bush will give his final address to the nation, ending a rocky eight years in the White House. According to the Dana Perino, the president's press secretary, this will be Bush's final appearance in public until the Obama's come knocking on Tuesday morning. Already this morning, Barack Obama and his family will officially be welcomed into the White House 'bubble' by moving into Blair House, a stones-throw from the executive mansion. The transition, of course, has reached its end stages. I, like many Americans that have supported this president have mixed feelings about the history that we are...

Barring a significant development in the other direction, Al Franken will likely become Minnesota’s junior Senator sooner rather than later. While those of us in the conservative community continue to be amazed by the very phrase Senator Al Franken, it should not surprise any of us after the beating the Republican party took in 2006 and again in 2008. Nothing against Norm Coleman (who is about to become Minnesota’s former Senator) but Franken’s election is just the last of the many puzzle pieces that put together show a heavily defeated Republican party that has shed its ranks in Washington, DC...

The GOP cannot look ahead to any attempts of taking over the White House for at least four years, but life and politics go on. In 2010, the entire House and 1/3 of the Senate will once again be in play. And, with the GOP in control of nothing in Washington come January, we have a very good shot of gaining seats in the U.S. Senate in 2010 for the first time in three elections. Unfortunately, such was the case in 2006 and 2008, the GOP heads into the election defending more seats than the Democrats (19 versus 15), so...

If the McCain-Palin ticket somehow wins tomorrow night, this is what we will know: 1. It was the media, stupid. Despite near-orgasmic support for Barack Obama since his 2004 Senate campaign and throughout the 2008 contest, the media’s guy will have been defeated. Of course, this will setup the predictable blame game on behalf of the media. In the end, the rich, white racists will get most of the blame. 2. The blacks have been disenfranchised, as usual. When liberal African Americans lose American elections against GOPers, it is always because of racism and of course, because black voters were...

This is likely the scenario that McCain is looking at. It would be very, very difficult to imagine, but perhaps it is the best and only chance left for the GOP team. If McCain takes Pennsylvania, one has to assume that OH and FL also go to the GOP. Then, Nevada needs to turn red as well. Count would be 273-265. If Nevada is blue, McCain would lose - even with PA, FL and OH(!), with Obama winning 270-268.

Yesterday, my good friend Ted Tally presented his text, the Obama Landslide. Today, I offer a slightly different and more positive view of the race... Bottom line: THERE IS STILL TIME TO WIN THIS. .. PresidencyObama will win all of the 2004 blue states, and take the following Bush states from 2004: Nevada, Iowa, Virginia, Colorado and New Mexico. McCain, however will take Pennsylvania, the first Republican to do so since 1988. This would give Obama a 270-268 razor thin win, prompting four years of GOP headaches when trying to answer the question, 'what happened to Virginia?' since without Virginia,...

In seven days, Americans will elect Barack Obama our nation's 44th president. For the past several weeks, I kept waiting for McCain/Palin to catch-up, and kept waiting for something about Obama to rise to the level of big news to change the election's trajectory, which has been very steady in pointing to a Obama/Biden victory for at least the last six weeks. However, nothing happened and in my opinion, the die is cast and onto 2012. I expect that next Wednesday morning, we will wake up to a Obama landslide that we haven't seen by a U.S. presidential candidate since...

On this day in 1964, Ronald Reagan spoke to a nationwide television audience on behalf of the Republican presidential nominee. Here are the words of Ronaldus Magnus: "If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to. This is the last stand on Earth." -- continued at http://grandoldpartisan.typepad.com/blog/2008/10/as-ronald-reagan-would-say-it-is-a-time-for-choosing.html

Two questions? If it is found out that Barack Obama was not born in the U.S. and this is found out before the election, what happens? If it is found out that Barack Obama was not born in the U.S. and this is found out after h is election as president, what happens? Just some thinking going on here.
