Obama says he has better things to do with your money. In this morning's interview by George Stephanopoulus, President Obama stopped short of saying he would veto an extension of the Bush tax cuts, if extended for all taxpayers. But he said something very chilling, and showed that he wants to control as much of our income as he can. When asked whether he would extend the Bush tax cuts for the upper 2% of taxpayers, if passed by the Congress, he said, "I have better things to do with the money." What a country we live in! You can get 119 weeks of unemployment payments, and not even try to find work. You can get free health care. You don't have to be working to be covered til you're at least 26. You can have your mortgage forgiven or reduced. You can get your college loan reduced or forgiven. If you are an illegal immigrant, you can get free education, health care, food, housing. You can get married if you are gay. You can get illegal drugs with a paper prescription. You can get free electric carts with a paper prescription....

I don't understand what the new health care law will do to service industry businesses, especially fast-food companies (McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Subway, etc.). Seems that it would require every employee, even part-time staff, to be covered with a health insurance policy. If a policy costs $5,000 per employee per year, and a part timer works 30 hours per week, that would increase the cost per employee by almost $3.50/hr. That's a 50% increase in salary costs. I can see that having a huge impact on who gets hired for these businesses. You would see teens and new immigrants, who dominate...

A friend at work had her wallet stolen out of her purse from a desk drawer the other day, sometime during work hours. And another friend's daughter, a stewardess, had her wallet stolen last week while serving passengers on a flight to Trinidad. I told them that they should not think of these people as thieves, but Obama's foot soldiers, volunteers in his army to spread the wealth. So be of good cheer. We are serving the President's vision, and soon the wealth will be evenly spread.

President Obama, in his weekly address to the country, said that getting the budget accepted would not come without a fight. And that there are strong lobbyist groups that will fight him on this. But he was elected to look out for the people. Finally the fighting words to the lobbyists: "Bring it On!" Obama is acting like a schoolyard bully on this one, and it is particularly galling. He already has the votes! The lobbyists will not be able to stop any of it. Even if they peel away a few Democrats, the edge is overwhelming to pass this....

The recently signed tax cut of $1.35 trillion has been discussed for so many months that the average uninvolved American has become numb to the idea. Most people cannot comprehend the size or impact of a major tax cut from the federal government. It is one of the reasons that the tax cut was received with lukewarm support (Of course, media spin and DEMagoguery have a lot to do with it as well).
