I smelled one whiff of smoke as I walked through the house at 2:19 a.m. No smoke detectors went off and I did not smell it again. Searching the house I finally found one Lux thermostat that was not working. It runs the # 2 furnace in this big house. After finally figuring out how to get the cover off (I'm an older lady living with 2 cats), I discovered the batteries ....dated 2011...were moderately corroded. It takes two batteries and of that size I had only one new one. I finally robbed one out of the wireless computer mice...

I have been put in charge of handling my significant other's affairs. He was a Viet Nam vet, disabled, very orgnized, kept everything. I cannot find the titles to the vehicles. I have huge files of recipts, medical records, every magazine he ever received, as well as catalogs. But I cannot seem to find the titles. For example, he had 25 stocking caps. They were all in one box, except for the one he was wearing, and labeled as such. He had 69 pairs of shoes, they were in plastic totes, rubber bands around them and labeled, totes with either...

I found my good friend dead on the floor on July 18, 2011. Life will never be the same. He had been in an automobile accident 9 days before, but the autopsy showed he had severe coronary disease with multiple blockages. The EMTs said he had been gone for 3-4 hours. Please don't let this happen to any of my FreeperFriends. He had no symptoms of heart trouble other than a little high cholesterol. Treatment with diet and exercise put the numbers back in good territory and he could pass a stress test better than I could. What he needed...

Miss Peach has been a Viking Kitty since I have been on Free Republic, but tonight she is in the hospital with severe diabetes. Is there anyone else how has come across this problem? What did you do and what was the outcome? The sugar reading was 417. She will be 15 years old in 7 weeks.

Last night while trying to get on FR, I was chatting on the phone with an old neighbor. I heard two very loud bangs. I got up and tried to see in the dark, 8:50 p.m. EST, what was going on. I saw a man going through the dumpster in the back of the pharmacy. Then he disappeared between the bank and the pharmacy, went to the dumpster again and emerged with a boot size box wrapped in maybe a sweatshirt, or clothing of some kind. He then went to the glassed in area behind the pharmacy and paused as...

  • One molecule away from being a cat hoarder!

I already have two cats. A very old arthritic one and a recent addition just turned one. But these renters turned their cat, a gray white pawed female out into the yard and said they didn't want it anymore. They moved out with a great deal of coaxing from my lawyer owing me 2086.00 and leaving me with the cat. At first I did not want it because it tried to bite me HARD when I touched its back. Then it disappeared for 8 days and showed up today quite hungry. So next door neighbor put it in a carrier...

  • Restless Leg Syndrome

    05/05/2007 4:53:26 PM PDT · by Battle Axe · 17 replies · 569+ views
Anyone out there in Freeperland have restless leg syndrome? I just cured mine. Didn't cost any money. I found a book by Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo--EAT RIGHT 4 YOUR TYPE.....meaning A,B, O and AB blood types. It said that chicken!!!!! is toxic for a B blood type. I'm a B and despite my suffering with this for 50 years, I am now free from the crazy symptoms. I gave up chicken. I can eat eggs and turkey, but not the muscle of a chicken which contains an agglutinating lectin. My legs would react after the evening meal....sometimes. I never coordinated...
  • Freeper needs help with sedation dentistry

    07/20/2006 5:29:24 PM PDT · by Battle Axe · 20 replies · 358+ views
Are there any Freepers with like experiences of a loved one dying from having their teeth removed? There are ads on the radio for sedation dentistry, an IV, that will put you completely out. However, before this is done in a regular surgery, the physicians make sure you have no pre-existing conditions. Apparently not so with dentistry. Here's what happened. My Dad's fishing partner.....yes he was almost 91....was in good health except for a cracked tooth. It was infected and the dentist wanted to pull it and all his other upper teeth and give him dentures. (He was well heeled...

I received in the mail today a survey that tells me that I must send this in. This survey document is registered in your name and must be accounted for upon cojmp[letion of thie project. If you choose not to participate in the crucial Republican Senate Leadership Survey, return this Survey doucment at once using the postage-paid envelope provided. Apparently I have three choices: 1. Donate to the Republican party and complete the survey, 2. Donate to the Republican party but not complete the survey, 3. Not donate, not complete the survey, but must send in $11.00 called a contributation...
