Researchers in Boston have pinpointed a primary trigger for the most common form of diabetes and have uncovered evidence that simple, inexpensive aspirin-like drugs could keep the disease that affects millions in check. The researchers, from Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, discovered a genetic ''master switch" in the liver that is turned on when people become obese. Obesity has long been linked to diabetes, but the reason, until now, has been unknown. Joslin researchers found that once on, this switch produces low-level inflammation, which disrupts the body's ability to process insulin, causing type 2 diabetes.

Is Anyone Watching ABC Morning Show? The sneers and the giddiness when they say or show something that may hurt President Bush. I am amazed at how anything that is talked about is used in a negative way to hurt Republicans or Bush. When this is done, carefully watch the expression on their faces. This morning there was a doctor or scientist that was monitoring peoples brains when they were shown their candidate and the opposing candidate. It showed the different areas of the brain when the different commercials and pictures were shown, that mean content, happy, and not so...

Most Democrats are Politically Illiterate. I came to this conclusion after hearing Democrats calling to a local talk show. The questions the Democrats asked were enough for me to know, they knew very little about the political process or their own party. We, "FreeRepublic", have always said the Democrats did not want the sheeple to know what they were and what they stood for. I want to educate the Democrat Voters about the party they vote for every four years.

Does anyone have this problem? In my sleep, I bite my tongue. Hard. Bleeding hard. I have ruined many pillow cases with large areas of blood soaked pillow cases. My tongue looks like raw hamburger meat, at times. I tested positive for sleep apnea. I woke an average of 49 times per hour, from lack of oxygen, or unable to breath. I use a breathing machine with a chin strap to help my problem. It helps, but it isn't a 100%. I woke this morning at 3:30 AM and immediately took the pillow case off to soak the stain. I have ...

Broken Arrow, Oklahoma School officials remove "God Bless America" signs from schools in fear that someone might be offended. Channel 12 News in Long Island, New York, orders flags removed from the newsroom and red, white, and blue ribbons removed from the lapels of reporters. Why? Management did not want to appear biased and felt that our nations flag might give the appearance that "they lean one way or another".Berkeley, California bans U.S. Flags from being displayed on city fire trucks because they didn't want to offend anyone in the community. In an "act of tolerance" the head of ...

We have said this and heard this ,maybe a hundred times,"God Bless America", since 9/11/2001. Do we really mean it? Maybe, just maybe, God would like us to show more humility..I think we should show him how serious we are. We are not saying, "May God Bless America", just because it's the thing to say at a time like this. I, for one, am saying it, because I truly mean it. I am writing my congressman, my president and any other person that represents me in government. I am writing them to ask that they change the laws that makes ...

In Evansville, Indiana tonight local police, athorities, and the FBI were called to Deaconess Primary Care Center. A employee of the Care Center opened a threatening letter that demanded money and contained a white powdery substance. The letter was postmarked Sept. 11 and was from Nigeria. The care center and local business' were evacuated. All employees and people inside the care center were de-contaminated. The substance was tested and came back negative. Vice President Candidate, Joseph Lieberman recently asked the question, "What will we tell our children, if every vote is not counted?" Here is the response of one citizen. As a former teacher, I have been concerned about Joe Lieberman's question, "What will we tell our children?" What we should, and must, tell our children is that if they fail to mark the right answer on an exam, or do not fill in the entire test, they will not get credit for their answers. If they do it often enough and if they do not ask for help or read the directions ...
