Of the many labels I could attach to the guy, stupid is not one of them. I think he’s remarkably articulate and his positions are well thought out, apart from ignoring their having failed every time they have been tried.

Not so. HE uranium or even plutonium are just average alpha particle emitters. Their radiation can be stopped by a sheet of aluminum. Even skin, or paper, can stop low emission Alpha particles.

The people advocating for the creation of a Palestinian state, despite the repeated insistence of the Palestinians themselves that they have no interest in creating such a state, are only interested in having the Palestinian problem go away. Period, full stop. Like so many other things, they want to take a pill and have the illness cured and gone. These people are under the understanding that they have a choice in the matter. The Israelis have no such misconception. They have no choice, they either fight the Palestinians, or accept if not embrace their own extinction.

Announcing a ceasefire early is an exceptionally poor strategy. I can’t believe Trump fell for such a clumsy tactic, but it’s not unlike him to rush to the podium with the dramatic news.

“Enrichment” refers to the process of increasing the proportion of U235 (fissionable) in a given sample relative to U238. U235 only occurs as .7% in a given sample of uranium. Power reactors demand a u-235 content of 3 to 5%. Weapons demand a 90% level of u-235. There is no commercial use for Uranium-235 enriched above 5%, other than for the eventual production of weapons.

I don’t agree with your assessment as to Iran’s potential nuclear capability. Those photos of banks and banks of centrifuges had to come from somewhere, perhaps they came from Pakistan. That much is certainly possible, I acknowledge. But it is not necessary for Iran to develop InterContinental missile technology to deliver a nuclear weapon, should they produce one or more. Such a weapon could be trivially delivered to the US in a shipping container. Or a sacrificial ship, having sailed Within blast radius distance of a major US port.

I always thought the WMD assertions against Iraq were tenuous at best. I can appreciate the attraction of constructing parallels to the situation in the lead up to the Iraq war. As you may or may not know, there is no commercial use for Uranium enrichment above 5% except for the production of nuclear weapons.
