Although Americans remain more likely to say their sympathies in the Middle East situation are with the Israelis rather than the Palestinians, the 46% expressing support for Israel is the lowest in 25 years of Gallup’s annual tracking of this measure on its World Affairs survey. The previous 51% low point in this trend of Americans’ sympathy for Israelis was recorded both last year and in 2001.
At the same time, the 33% of U.S. adults who now say they sympathize with the Palestinians is up six percentage points from last year and the highest reading by two points.
The latest 55% of U.S. adults who favor establishing a Palestinian state is in line with readings since 2020, which have ranged from 52% to 55%. Before that, Americans were still more in favor of an independent Palestinian state than opposed, but support was mostly below the majority level. Support and opposition were most similar to each other in 2015 and 2017.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
People are actually sympathetic to places like Gaza now including conservatives. And sadly blatant anti-Semitism (beyond Israel’s government) is en vogue.
Many of those sympathetic toward Israel are afraid to admit it publicly because they don’t want their Teslas keyed or their houses burned down by illegal immigrants, Columbia students, and/or Tim Walz.
Anti Semitism which goes beyond critique* of Israel’s government I meant. Just blatant anti Jewishness period is en vogue.
I do not think the Israelis care very much about public opinion when their existence is at stake.
Does "not sympathetic" equate to wanting them all killed?
Because that seems to be the spin.
It’s not their religion or the existence of the country that’s the problem.
They don’t make it easy on themselves.
> What does “sympathetic” mean in this context? <
Good question. It all depends on how the questions are phrased. For example,
- Do you think Israel has a right to defend itself against terrorism?
vs.
- Do you think Israel has gone too far with their attacks in Gaza?
The second question will show less “sympathy” for Israel. And I’m betting these polling questions will lean more towards the second type.
What is the problem, then?
How so?
The people advocating for the creation of a Palestinian state, despite the repeated insistence of the Palestinians themselves that they have no interest in creating such a state, are only interested in having the Palestinian problem go away. Period, full stop. Like so many other things, they want to take a pill and have the illness cured and gone. These people are under the understanding that they have a choice in the matter. The Israelis have no such misconception. They have no choice, they either fight the Palestinians, or accept if not embrace their own extinction.
“Anti Semitism which goes beyond critique* of Israel’s government I meant.”
The main issue with this is: (1) most “critiques” of Israeli government are based on easily-proven lies (generally known to the speaker) or (2) absurd double standards are placed on Israel.
We have plenty of both on display here at FR.
How heavy did they oversample Dims?
Somewhere between JFK and Epstein Island lies the problem. Then there are all those who think Israel can do no wrong and are God entitled so therefore they can do whatever they want.
No one on the right that I know gives a crap about Gaza. You must live among RINOs.
Most of Israel’s support comes from Fox News watching boomers. There’s little support for Israel among the younger generations.
Only 33% total in the poll.
I'd love to see a poll of those that were born here compared to immigrants on the issue.
Media gets the job done again.
Thanks to the MSM which feeds them the poor suffering Fakestinian mantra every news cycle.
