Washington, D.C. is the nation’s capital — and its suburbs could be moving towards becoming the nation’s capital of privately owned express toll lanes. The Virginia side of the Potomac has placed a big bet on such roadways, with 14 miles of pay lanes in the middle of the region’s famous Beltway, reversible toll lanes along 29 miles of I-95, and construction under way on three more highway segments. Last September, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced an even more ambitious plan for his side of the river, covering 77 miles of the Beltway and I-270. If these plans go forward,...

On Friday, a man murdered 49 people in Christchurch, New Zealand. He targeted Muslims at two mosques in the city in what’s been deemed a terrorist attack, one of the most horrific acts of violence the country has ever seen. Shortly before the attack, in what appeared to be posts from the alleged shooter, links to a Facebook livestream of the killings were shared on 8chan. Social media channels later struggled to remove copies of that stream, while his 74-page “manifesto” also spread from 8chan across the likes of Facebook and Twitter.

The office of Prime Minister of Ethiopia disclosed on Friday that US president Donald Trump had a telephone conversation with Abiy Ahmed. Although the office did not say how long the conversation was, the two leaders have reportedly expressed condolences for victims of ET 302, crashed on March 10, 2018, claiming the lives of 157 people on board of the plane. The US president ordered on Wednesday that Boeing 737 Max – 8 planes be grounded in the US after his administration admitted striking similarities of circumstances between Indonesian Lion Air plane, crashed in October 2018, and Nairobi bound Ethiopian...

These sanctions were supposed to punish Moscow's elite, but instead they've spurred economic development and patriotism. The current conversation about Russia sanctions centers around targeting and scope. Are we punishing the people whose behavior we most want to change? Is there pain, well inflicted, on those individuals responsible for creating chaos in Ukraine and Crimea, for reckless attacks on Sergei Skripal and others, and for wanton interference in Western elections? Can we hurt Russian elites in a way that Putin will notice? Have we done enough? In at least one sector, though, the sanctions are a textbook case of unintended...

Reflections on the Anniversary of the Defeat of the Newburgh Conspiracy We have known of the tale for over 2000 years, but especially for the past 420, since William Shakespeare’s play immortalized the moment. It was on March 15 – the Ides of March – in the year 44 BC, when Julius Caesar was assassinated by a cadre of Roman Senators. They claimed to have committed this murder to save the Roman Republic, even though the nation had suffered a procession of other dictators for a century already, and it was actually “a Republic in name only” long before Caesar...

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says President Donald Trump's veto of legislation blocking the national emergency he's declared at the Mexican border shows he's defying "the Constitution, the Congress and the will of the American people." The California Democrat says the House will vote March 26 on overriding Trump's veto. The chamber seems certain to fall short of the two-thirds majority needed to succeed. That means his emergency declaration would survive, but it still faces several legal challenges....

I was getting ready for my radio show on Monday when I spotted an announcement on the AskDrBrown YouTube channel. The entire channel — now, almost 1,600 videos — has been demonetized. By now, I’ve been used to the constantly changing standards of YouTube, not to mention the non-existent customer service. I’m talking about YouTube approving a video one day that speaks out against abortion while telling me the next day that a generic video where I answer caller questions about the Bible is not suitable for most advertisers. As I’ve written before, if it wasn’t so ridiculous, it would...

Where are the FBI and the DOJ when they are most needed? Still out on the wild goose chase called Russian Collusion to bring a duly elected American president down There appears to be an active Hamas terrorist sitting among them, but don’t expect any worthwhile investigation by the Democrats and the 12 Republicans who voted against President Donald Trump’s National Emergency effort—by pretending that there is no emergency at the Southern border. Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar, sworn in to Congress on the Koran rather than the Holy Bible, and seemingly sworn to the Muslim Brotherhood-inspired Hamas has failed to...

What outrageous propaganda from Fake News CNN! This is the Open Borders legacy in America. Omar, the imported Jew-hating bigot, somehow portrayed as the true American Patriot, speaking “truth to power.” It really is disgusting. The outrage over the thinly-veiled Jew hatred by U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., misses another important point. The real, deeper culprit here is the policy of Open Borders that has allowed this Somalian activist into Congress. Let’s face it, most opinion polls and surveys show that for the last 40 years, 10 to 15 percent of Americans still hold strong anti-Semitic views, which if you...

The “elite” that are in positions of power in our country have decided to make a final push on climate change before being debunked in the future. The man-hater from Hawaii Mazie Hirono stated in the past week that the Green New Deal is recognition that climate change is happening and that we should not stick our heads in the sand. She has described President Trump, and his minions know zero about the subject and that they deny the "science" behind climate change. Since the subject has gone from global cooling to global warming, to climate change, it proves that...

It says a lot about the state of the country when the President of the United States can make a laudatory, if oblique, reference to having fascist goon squads commit violence on his behalf, and it’s not the biggest headline of the day. Nevertheless, that’s evidently where we are after Donald Trump’s latest, sincerely horrifying, interview with Breitbart News. Responding to a question from Breitbart Washington Political Editor Matthew Boyle about how the American left plays, in Trump’s words, “cuter and tougher,” the president offered the following (emphasis mine): Yes, that is the president seemingly touting the “very bad” things...

FULL TITLE: Investigators Ask Loretta Lynch: Why Didn’t DOJ/FBI Give Trump A Defensive Briefing If They Suspected Members Of His Campaign Had Ties To Russia? Although the transcripts from former Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s Testimony last year have not been released yet, investigative reporter Sara Carter obtained a copy and said that lawmakers had one question on their minds. If the DOJ and the FBI were so worried that Trump’s campaign had been penetrated by Russians, why didn’t anyone give him a defensive briefing which is customary? Lynch’s inability to answer this question spoke volumes. Defensive briefings are “often given...

The hometown of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg hasn't forgotten her birthday. Brooklyn, N.Y., plans a celebration called #RallyforRuth on Friday, as Ginsburg turns 86 years old. Eric Adams, president of the New York City borough, will host the party for Ginsburg, who was born Joan Ruth Bader in Brooklyn on March 15, 1933. It was unclear if the justice, known by her initials, "RBG," will attend. Still, the festivities are set to begin at 8 a.m. at the Brooklyn Municipal Building and will include a call for the city to rename the building in her honor, Patch.com reported....

Soldiers Complete Army's Toughest Schools after 40 A weapons expert with 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), Master Sgt. Jole Alvarez had completed some of the most challenging courses the Army has to offer, but Ranger School eluded him for two decades. He'd been slated to attend in 1999, but instead was sent to Combat Diver Qualification Course first. Then the 9/11 attacks kicked off years of high operations tempo that kept him posted overseas or deployed much of the time since. But, late last year, he got his chance. "They called me 'Old Man Jole' or 'The Old Man,'" Alvarez...

President Donald Trump on Friday declared that the Republican Party is “waiting with open arms” to welcome Jewish voters who he said are fleeing the "total disrespect" they have been shown by Democrats, whom the GOP has accused of harboring anti-Semitic sentiments. The president touted the so-called Jexodus movement — which purports to be a grassroots movement aimed at getting Jewish millennials to desert the Democratic Party en masse — following segments on Fox News and the right-wing outlet One America News Network featuring the nascent organization. “The ‘Jexodus’ movement encourages Jewish people to leave the Democrat Party,” he tweeted....

On this day in 44 BC Caesar was assassinated on the steps of the Roman Senate. Mind you, it was just 2 short years ago when the Left thought it a good idea to perform a modern day version of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar with a Trump-like character in the designated role of the dead Caesar. CNN couldn’t have been more onboard, giving the Shakespeare in the Park production free promotion:This was defended as “free speech.” Yet the same cabal seeks to outlaw something called “hate speech.” Dead President portrayals don’t qualify as “hate speech” because 1) it’s “art” and...
