The news media successfully predicted 10 out of the last 3 recessions, so obviously we can trust them about the current one they keep trying to ram down our gullets, right? Well, I suppose if you define a "recession" as being in a generally pessimistic, defeatist mood and really wanting Barack Obama to win the next election, then yes, the news media is in the midst of one of the most pronounced recessions in the whole of human history. The rest of us, though... aren't actually doing so bad. Job losses aren't materializing as predicted, the dollar has begun a...

I disagree with Rev. Jeremiah Wright on many things, but as an American I believe that he has the right to believe whatever he wants to believe and express those beliefs. My father believed the rights of freedom of belief and freedom of expression were important enough to risk his life in Europe in World War II. I believe those rights were important enough to risk my life in Vietnam. I disagree with Rev. Wright that the U.S. government is responsible for the HIV virus, but as an historian I know that some of our ancestors gave small pox infected...

There are classy stars, and then there are the Media Whores. Kylie Minogue crosses the line in to whoredom posing as a not so lovely looking Geisha girl with a bad makeup job, or a middle age opera star in drag. At first we thought it was Marc Jacobs playing a trick on us...

Bolivia's President Evo Morales delivered a keynote address to the United Nations forum on Indigenous People in which he proclaimed "if we want to save our planet earth, to save life, we have a duty to put an end to the capitalist system and the unbridled prosperity that is killing the planet." In its place, Morales urged people to “live our lives the way nature intended—solitary, nasty, brutish, and short.” The Bolivian president dismissed objections as “excessively human-centric.” “Humans have an over-inflated sense of their own importance,” Morales said. “They don’t realize that their lives and happiness are inconsequential in...

On Monday April 28th, I was seated directly in front of Rev. Jeremiah Wright at the National Press Club as he recommitted himself to the very bigotry-laced anti-Americanism that his most famous long-time parishioner, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, had contended were feelings the reverend no longer possessed. Exactly one month earlier on ABC Television's “The View,” Mr. Obama argued that he wouldn't have stayed with Trinity United Church of Christ had the reverend “not acknowledged that what he had said had deeply offended people” and was “inappropriate.”

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People… Can anyone tell me how embracing the wacky pseudo-scientific biological racial theories of cognitive learning espoused by the “biblical scholar” Jeremiah Wright advances the interests of colored people? How can the nation’s once premier civil rights organization that worked so valiantly and assiduously to end the practice of racial separation, not only embrace, but celebrate a quack who propounds the very same theories that were used by many segregationists in the deep South to deny African-Americans equal educational opportunities as well as social and cultural access to the mainstream of American civic...

From: Dalrymple, Neil [mailto:Neil.Dalrymple@xxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, May 02, 2008 9:00 AM Subject: We are in the wrong job perhaps.. Rt Hon David Miliband MP Secretary of State, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Nobel House 17 Smith Square London SW1P 3JR 11th March 2008 Dear Secretary of State, My friend, who is in farming at the moment, recently received a cheque for £3,000 from the Rural Payments Agency for not rearing pigs. I would now like to join the "not rearing pigs" business. In your opinion, what is the best kind of farm not to rear pigs on,...

Whenever I point out that liberal Democrats in Congress threw away the gains we made in Vietnam, at great cost in blood and treasure, just as we had defeated the enemy, and are indirectly responsible for the slaughter of millions of innocent people in Southeast Asia, I get comments from liberals denying that any such thing ever took place. As Democrats in Congress and Obama and Clinton line up to repeat the greatest treachery in American history, comes the following historical remembrance. The consequences of a similar surrender in Iraq will be even more dire than that which took place...

PART 1In just one year. Remember the election in 2006? Thought you might like to read the following: A little over one year ago: 1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high; 2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon; 3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%. Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen: 1) Consumer confidence plummet; 2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon; 3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase) 4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses)...

Today is May 1, 2008. As many of my readers know, today is "May Day" or "International Workers Day" - a day when most of the world has its equivalent of the American "Labor Day" holiday. If this sounds Stalinist to the average American, their instincts would be correct. Americans do, after all, have a nose for this type of thing as, for all true Americans, the very thought of living behind the iron curtain of communism is nothing short of hateful. In recent years, Americans have been given a new reason to hold their nose on May Day as...

(from Laptop Security blog)Even the most carefully laid plans can go awry. Federal prosecutors charged a Southern Californian woman this week with aggravated identity theft after she used a genealogy website to locate people who had recently died and to take over their credit cards. Tracy June Kirkland was using Rootsweb.com to find the names, Social Security numbers and birth dates of people who had died. She would then call credit card companies randomly to see if "she" had an account, if "she" did, she would request a mailing address change and, in some cases, would add her own name...

The Value of Drink "Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink I feel shame Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the vineyards and all of their hopes and dreams . If I didn't drink this wine, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this wine and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver." ~ Jack Handy WARNING: The consumption of alcohol may leave you wondering what the hell...

Not a very good week for Barack Obama. On the heels of losing to Hillary bigtime in Pennsylvania, he had to disavow his own pastor and mentor, Jeremiah Wright. This was followed by a plunge in his poll ratings. In fact the only positive note in the Obama campaign is that Ken Norton of THE KEN NORTON EFFECT has predicted that Obama will win big in both North Carolina and Indiana followed by Hillary dropping out of the race the next day. So despite the fact that Ken Norton predictions are 100% consistent, the DUmmies are still worried about...

Wouldn't it be great if we elected our first black president? Many white people will vote for Obama. A landslide of blacks (90%+) will vote for Obama, and if I were black I might too. But I don't think so. Liberals, Democrats, independent and a few Republicans will vote for Obama. Why, I don't know, and guessing is another article. I know black men who would be great as president, but not an extreme civil rights lawyer who does not have the courage to to remove himself from a church that damn America, or is lying about what he heard...

Thursday, May 01, 2008 LieStoppers is open for Business Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Blog Hooligans we have now opened the Meeting Place for viewers. A giant thanks is given to our "Tony Soprano." What he has personally accomplished since last Saturday is truly amazing! Viewers can now read the threads without registering. More importantly it means that the efforts of those who tried to prevent them from learning the facts of the Hoax/Frame have failed. The dirty laundry of those in Durham and at Duke who perpetrated this attempted frame of the 2006 Duke Lacrosse Team will...

My father is a Korean War Vet and a retired policeman. I'm sure many of you feel your father's are amazing but I believe that mine is truly amazing and that's why I nominated him for Mr. Mom for mother's day. You see in addition to working a highly stressful job, in a metropolitan city that saw riots in the sixties and often recognized for being the murder capital of the United States. A friend of mine saw a contest which would allow you to name your recognize your father for mother's day and passed this on to me. You...

“Ascension Day, the Forgotten Festival” (Luke 24:44-53; Acts 1:1-11)Welcome to the Forgotten Festival! Today is Ascension Day--or to put it more fully, the Festival of the Ascension of Our Lord. But there is reason to call it, as I say, the “Forgotten” Festival. Even though Ascension Day is classed in the church year as a major festival, and thus a day for to church to gather for the Divine Service of Word and Sacrament, the sad fact is that in recent decades many congregations and many Christians have forgotten all about celebrating this important festival. It used to be that...

First, the bad news: the inner solar system is unstable. Given enough time, Jupiter's gravity could yank Mercury out of its present orbit. Two new computer simulations of long-term planetary motion — one by Jacques Laskar (Paris Observatory), the other by Konstantin Batygin and Gregory Laughlin (University of California, Santa Cruz) — have both reached the same disturbing conclusion. Says Laughlin, "The solar system isn't as stable as we'd thought." Both teams have found that Jupiter's gravity can increase Mercury's orbital eccentricity over time. Mercury's path around the Sun is already nearly as elliptical as Pluto's. But Jupiter can make...
