(Ever since reposting the Al Gore REVIEW of "2001: A Space Odyssey" which was originally published in the Laissez Faire City Times, I have been filled with an enormous amount of nostalgia as well as yearning to return to my old task of typing up those reviews again. Therefore I am casting away my net in the hope another publication picks up that Al Gore At The Movies series again. This time I am reposting Al Gore's review of "Cast Away" mainly because FReeper freedomlover sent me a message that he really missed those reviews especially the "Cast Away"...

Back in 2000, the Bush and Gore teams had an entirely different take on the economic conditions at the time. The conventional wisdom with economists, financial leaders, and the Bush campaign was that the economy was headed for a downturn and that action was need. The conventional wisdom in the media, mainstream America, and the Gore campaign was that we were living in prosperous times and that old George and the GOP were simply "talking down the economy". As it turned out, we were headed for a downward spiral what started in Q3 of 2000, although you would have not...

ARE YOU A COMMUNIST MR. BUSH? YES! I AM!!! This would be the answer if the question had been submitted before the collapse of Soviet Union! That does come out this conclusion for the current Prime Minister of U.S.A.? Simply Mr. Bush today, follows the vision of Stalin and Titos for taking territories from Greece following dance floor their dark drawing! The pseudonym state, nation and the language of Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia was Stalin’s dream. Stalin and Tito they manufacture then in August 1944 this state "in the frames of Yugoslavian Federation. They rename from VARDARSKA in" Macedonia...

The issues where Sens McCain and Obama differ significantly: a matrix, with commentary [Introduction to matrix] The attitude of many conservatives towards the candidacy of John McCain might - still - be best summed up by the comments of one recent participant in a conservative forum when he claimed that - "HillObamaCain are all one-in-the-same thing. Open borders, Kyoto-Lite globalists." But, even though Sen McCain was not at all my own first choice, and - whilst the issue was still in doubt I had written critically of him - I think the statement quoted above is just plain wrong. And,...

wkeith999@yahoo.com For most of my life I have held that labor unions are a poisonous left-over from the 19th century, when they did succeed in bettering the lives of working people and their families. In my careers in aviation and electronics I have had just two brushes with unions. The first came in the late 70s when a computer company for which I was working and which was failing (a common theme within the computer industry) responded by cutting everyone’s salary and commission while expanding work hours and company travel. In response, the sales force asked to join the Teamsters...

My Father in Law died last weekend. My husband and I brought him to the hospital for orthopedic surgery. The next day we found out he suffered with pancreatic cancer. The next week we sat by his side 24/7 as he suffered and died but mostly talked about his experiences in the Navy. What were his last words? "I was an Aviation Machinist Mate in the US Navy". He prayed with us. He joked with us. But he loved his country and he was so proud of his service. He mostly loved to talk about that time than any other...

Does anyone have any experience with the Total Transformation program? http://www.thetotaltransformation.com/ Specifically, not for use by parents but by teachers? My wife is a teacher at what could best be described as an inner city middle school that is very, very rough, and the kids are very disrespectful. I am looking for some program that may help her. I keep hearing the commercials for this and I would like to know if anyone has any experience with it.

On his radio show last Saturday, Larry Kudlow & his 2 guest analysts correctly claimed that the "mortgage crisis" has been way overblown, to make it seem that the sky is indeed falling. He said that only about 5% of homeowners are in, or are in danger of foreclosure, which of course means that a great majority are unaffected. They also revealed that many of these "homeowners in crisis" have gotten into trouble due to very low downpayments, accepted by anxious, greedy and/or "pressured" lenders.(zero or 1-5% - ie: they had no business buying a home they could not sfford...

Seed swapping Q. I have a backyard vegetable/fruit/herb garden, and every year I wind up with lots of leftover seeds, more than I can possibly plant next time around, yet throwing them away seems like an awful waste. Is there any established way to share, trade, or recycle seeds? - Jacey, WY A. Absolutely. Seed-sharing has been an officially time-honored tradition since at least 1989, when Canada and Britain founded their respective “Seedy Saturday” and “Seedy Sunday” swaps. And in the US, the last Saturday in January is “National Seed Swap Day,” so start saving your seeds up for January...

The War on Terror is going to continue to be about hunting the Islamofascist terrorists down in whatever country they are holed up in. That is just the reality of facing an enemy who doesn’t belong to a distinct geographical location. But a necessary element for victory is one that is found in the most unlikely of places: right here at home. On the political left. Ouch.

It is great fun watching the mainstream media turn against the Clintons with a vengeance. For once, the shoe is on the other foot. The spectacle is especially entertaining for conservatives, since the media has been treating the Clintons with a disdain to which Republicans have grown accustomed for the past twenty years. The Clintons fall from grace with their formerly reliable enablers has been sudden and swift. Confused, in desperation, they keep reaching into their bag of old tricks that had served them so well in the past, only to be rebuked by a turncoat media, from whom they...

These are photos of inscriptions which are over two of the doorways of the house we recently bought. The question - Are these just artistic decorations or do they actually say something in some language? If you don't know, but work at a university, etc. that has someone who knows middle eastern languages, I would REALLY appreciate you forwarding this to them so we can figure this out.

Hundreds of monks, nuns and local Tibetans who joined a march demanding the Dalai Lama be allowed to return to Tibet were fired upon by Chinese troops. Several were killed and dozens injured. General Wong Wei defended the action as “necessary to the security of the Chinese state” and dismissed criticisms as “misplaced.” “Their religion urges its followers to seek the nothingness of Nirvana,” Wong snidely remarked. “We have sped some of them along toward fulfillment of that quest. It is illogical of them to object.”

Check out this ad in a Mexican magazine named "Quien" from this month: http://lauramartinez.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/imagenfinal.jpg I like Absolut vodkas, but I won't buy them anymore. They've got competition in the regular and flavored markets, and the competition will benefit from this idiocy. Maybe I'll buy some Kalashnikov vodka instead: http://www.vodkakalashnikov.com/home.htm

The collapse of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century created a political and cultural vacuum that was filled, in part, by the Roman Catholic Church. For the next 1000 years the continuity of the Church of Rome provided a semblance of stability as Europe sank into barbarism. By the dawn of the Renaissance, however, the mission of the papacy had been corrupted by the conflict between its sacred duties as the Vicar of Christ and its temporal responsibilities as head of the Papal States. This was not the papacy's finest hour.Pope Alexander VI epitomizes this corruption. Born as...

This is the biggest Randi Rhodes story since she was MUGGED on a New York street by 14 Bloody Marys last October. It seems our gentle Randi has been indefinitely suspended by Air America for calling Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro whores. As a result DUmmieland is in an uproar as you can see in this THREAD "Dangerous Randi Rhodes has been silenced." Oddly enough, your humble correspondent does not believe that Randi should be fired. You see, I feel I have a proprietary interest in Randi's career because I was the one who got Randi hired by Air...
