Here are a few chuckles I found on the web recently. Hat tip for the first three goes to Michelle Malkin: First, what's wrong with this picture? BTW, the photo originally came from Zombietime and the "TOMANY" phenomenon appeared on Little Green Footballs. And yes, that is Mother Sheehan herself, second from the left. You probably have Peeps left over from Easter. Here's what some other folks have been doing with them. (And here are last year's entries.) Hat tip for this one goes to the folks at Aircraft Resource Center, specifically my fellow crew chief Boom175: Top Gun--North Korean...

There is a story, often told, that upon exiting the Constitutional Convention Benjamin Franklin was approached by a group of citizens asking what sort of government the delegates had created. His answer was: "A republic, if you can keep it." The brevity of that response should not cause us to under-value its essential meaning: democratic republics are not merely founded upon the consent of the people, they are also absolutely dependent upon the active and informed involvement of the people for their continued good health.1 If I have called your attention to this message, I have reasonable grounds to believe,...

WEST COAST SPOILER ALERT. Effective this week, the review, unique pics and videos you’ll find nowhere else on the Internet, and would-be Idols eliminated will be posted on Wednesday nights immediately AFTER the elimination show. The review posted will be of the prior contests earlier that same week and will include my guess as to who will be sent home. Which might be an incorrect guess, mind you, as the review et al will have been written/compiled BEFORE the elimination round. Thus the contender eliminated will be posted on this Blog right after it is announced so click on in...

Wednesday, March 05, 2008 Does anyone know the Texas Two-Step? So last night my dad and I went to the Democrat precinct caucus. It was supposed to start at 7:15. We got there just before seven, and got in line. There were probably a hundred people in front of us, and the line grew rapidly. We discovered that the precinct chairman was in line next to us. He had two sign-in sheets, enough to handle 40 people, and I would guess that by 7:30 there were ten times that many people there. No one knew who was supposed to be...

This is a funny bullfrog video but it is also typical of what is going on now with the 2008 Election speeches and promises, lots of talk but saying nothing.

Daily Market Commentary for March 26, 2008 from Millennium-Traders.Com Markets were plagued today with extremely light trading activity along with, low trading volume, across the board. A negative market trend followed the indices, into the close. Economic data out today fueled the selloff across the street. The Dollar moved lower (again) and crude oil soared higher by over $4 a barrel. New home sales fell to their lowest level in 13 years. Mortgage Bankers Association reported an increase in mortgage applications today which provides a slight glimmer of hope for the housing industry. Ford Motor is selling Jaguar and Land...

I decided to try to work on myself at least by identifying some of the daily effects of white privilege in my life. I have chosen those conditions that I think in my case attach somewhat more to skin-color privilege than to class, religion, ethnic status, or geographic location, though of course all these other factors are intricately intertwined. As far as I can tell, my African American coworkers, friends, and acquaintances with whom I come into daily or frequent contact in this particular time, place and time of work cannot count on most of these conditions. 1. I can...

We’ve been told that the ’science is settled’ on climate change, and that ‘man is the cause’ and if we ‘don’t act now’, that we’ll be in big big trouble very soon.... Some state counties are beginning to cash in on the golden goose, playing on people’s emotions and sense of responsibility, and culpability, and they are folk's mistaken sense of guilt as a springboard for enacting ‘green fees’ and carbon credits. These folks are quite vocal and insistent, and are trying to get the laws to tax us passed as quickly as possible because they know their golden goose...

Gordon Brown, uncontested as Labour leader, was supposed to bring calm, restore stability and optimism, and unite his party and the country. Instead this week we've have stormy weather over post offices, embryology and Iraq. It's disappointing but not surprising that a Tory attempt to force the government to hold an Iraq inquiry sooner rather than later was voted down in the Commons last night. Backbench Labour MPs may talk up their regrets about the war, but they show the same misguided loyalty to the government that led us into the war in the first place. Five years ago I...

The following Press Statement has just been released clarifying the "Sniper" incident. We presume that it will put this matter to rest. "We had just returned from a covert mission in Cambodia, (for which the Senate secretly awarded me the Medal of Worth, with attached "S" device, given only for Scary missions), and were glad to be away from anywhere that would be seared into our memories, or into anywhere else." {Warm, human chuckle}. "What? No, I don't have the medal- I threw it over a fence somewhere a long time ago, in protest to certain right wingers trying to...

I am attempting to find a US Government source for the number of small and medium business in the US. I have gone to the US Dept of Commerce site with little luck. Can someone point me to a useful URL that would provide any kind of useful and "official" numbers (even estimates) that would allow me to be able to assert the following: Total number of SMBs for 2000 through 2006 or 2007 Number of SMBs for the each year per state

Once again, a furor surrounding US Presidential candidate Barack Obama has erupted, this time over a senior military advisor to the Obama campaign with a history of anti-Israel remarks. He has strongly criticized pro-Israel Jews in the United States for allegedly torpedoing peace efforts in the Middle East. In a 2003 interview with The Oregonian newspaper unearthed by The American Spectator magazine, General Merrill "Tony" McPeak, a former chief of staff in the United States Air Force who is a candidate for secretary of defense in a potential Obama administration, claimed that efforts to bring peace between Israel and the...

The Heartland Institute recently concluded the first International Conference on Climate Change, where global warming was discussed, debated and debunked. This conference was a problem for sixth grade science teacher Michael Steria at David A. Brown Middle School in Wildomar, California. So much of a problem that he took class time to have his students write letters to the Heartland Institute to tell them how evil they are. It seems the children read ten whole articles which described the certain doom that global warming created, and were encouraged to write the Heartland Institute and express their concern. The Heartland Institute...

There is much confusion in the Western world over the basic tenants of Buddhism. Many Westerners believe that Buddhism is -- a) a religion circulating around the worship of a portly Asian sage (often gilded or bronzed and meditating near the door of your favorite Chinese restaurant holding the mints and toothpicks), b) involving a lot of sitting in uncomfortable positions, and c) coldly atheistic or fancifully pantheistic (depending on which section of Wikipedia you consult) Of course, when inspected closer, these stereotypes and inadequate attempts of pigeonholing a religion that has neither formal creed nor “divine” teachings is absolutely...

Hear the sound of a Merlin Falcon when it sings. This falcon also has killed chickens and has been called a chicken hawk but is really a falcon.
