After TMZ made a big stink over the military spending money on finding lost US military personnel, I figured I would ask all of you what you think. That’s why I put up a poll on the top left sidebar of my blog for you to vote on. Just click the link, and vote.

Posted by Lucius Vorenus QUESTIONS: Do you know people in Mainland China who are Christians? Can they talk about their Christianity in public, or must they speak about it only in private? Do you know people in Taiwan who are Christians? If so, can they talk about their Christianity in public, or are they ridiculed by their secular friends? Is it safe yet for a Chinese person to be Christian, or must Chinese people still practice their Christianity only in secrecy? If you and your friends are not Christians, then what do you think of Christians?

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- A gun carried by a US Airways pilot accidentally discharged during a flight from Denver to Charlotte Saturday, according to a statement released by the airline. The statement said the discharge happened on Flight 1536, which left Denver at approximately 6:45 a.m. and arrived in Charlotte at approximately 11:51 a.m. The Airbus A319 plane landed safely and none of the flight’s 124 passengers or five crew members was injured, according to the statement. It was a full flight. An airline spokeswoman said the plane has been taken out of service to make sure it is safe to return...

It was a scary ride aboard a U.S. Airways flight over the weekend. Some passengers said they saw parts of their plane's wing come off in midair. The plane took off from Orlando on Saturday. Officials at U.S. Airways said a small part of the wing came off and hit the plane while in flight.

In his latest audio diatribe, al-Qaeda terrorist leader, Osama bin Laden chastised Pope Benedict for “playing a crucial role in the effort to prevent Islam from pacifying Europe and the world.” “The Pope alleges that he is a man of peace,” bin Laden said. “Apparently, he fails to understand that his refusal to accept Islam and urge his fellow unbelievers to convert guarantees that there can be no peace.” Bin Laden warned that the Pope’s characterization of some of Muhammad’s teachings as “evil and inhuman defame Islam and will bring the wrath of Allah down upon him and his followers.”...

Politics1 had an interesting chat over the weekend with a well-placed source who has been serving as a senior McCain advisor during the primary campaign. For reasons that will be clear, you'll see why he didn't want to be named. The topic: possible GOP Vice Presidential runningmates. "My advice is to pick a safe choice, someone who won't do any political damage," he said, "but I don't think that is entirely where it's heading. Everytime I look at the names, I think the choice is going to be [Florida Governor] Charlie Crist. I mean, just look at the other guys...

http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/juancarloscruz/gGBTjH “The Jewish owners and managers of CNN, FOX NEWS, mainstream media and the press determine which person, which facts, which version of the facts, and which ideas shall reach the public.” http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/person/ghfhn I simply call them the “puppet masters”, they take you in a room show you the truth about the origins on what they believe and have had christains doing the bidding by use of the bible, which was written by them in the first place, ironic is that they are warcriminals , (to put it nicely) I have research since befor 1998 the aspects of the so...

Last week Tim, a reader, wrote: "This sort of story should send chills...A college professor spent nine days in jail, and was suspended from his job because of a false rape accusation. The lying accuser was sentenced -- to EIGHT (8) days in jail. That's right, eight days for the criminal as opposed to nine days for the innocent man. This is not to mention suspension from the college where he worked, and the agony he most assuredly endured over facing 30 years in prison for something he didn't do. "The enlightened judge at sentencing made sure to add that...

As more and more schools turn to healthy snack alternatives, a candy black market is emerging. Some students now bring candy-laden backpacks to school to sell to other students for profit. http://www.vvdailypress.com/news/candy_5497___article.html/profit_sales.html What’s truly needed to stem the candy tide are more candy-control laws. If we can limit its sale, fewer children will be the victims of cavities, hyper-activity, and parental rage. There are especially dangerous brands of candy, infused with caffeine, that should be banned altogether. We need to offer tax-payer sponsored candy buy-back programs to get dangerous candy off the streets. A 7-day waiting period before children can...

Obama, in his Philadelphia speech, loudly denounced the deplorable conditions in black communities. Yet, he said not one word about the fact that those communities have been run by Democrats for the past 40 years. The socialist policies of the Democrats have fostered a culture of dependency on government handouts and turned those communities into economic and social wastelands. Obama also rails against the failure to educate black children. However, he gives a pass to teachers' union special interest groups that are responsible for black children not being educated. Those groups are aligned with the Democratic Party and are against...

HBO's Crabby Abby "..My Wife who had always encouraged and animated me, in all antecedent dangers and perplexities, did not fail me on this Occasion..." -- John Adams, Autobiography, on the news of his leaving for France. Memo to Laura Linney, HBO: Abigail Adams was smart, well-read, loving, devout, and certainly forthright. She was not, however, a peevish, brooding feminist bore. America's Second First Lady, at the outset, is quite capable of speaking for herself; you can read everything she ever wrote here, but somehow you get the feeling Ms. Linney's shooting schedule didn't allow for a reading light in...

Texas Hold'em is a great game of skill and widely popular for good reason. It's easy to learn, you don't have to remember any cards (the downfall of 7-Stud) and since there's rarely a split pot situation dealing the game is relatively undemanding. But there is a price for poker's newly found fame. Texas Hold'em has managed to destroy every single other form of poker played in American card rooms. It seems that Hold'em's popularity has come at the cost of nearly every other single form of poker in America. Omaha, Low-Ball, 5-Card Dutch, 5-Card Draw, Chicago, 7-Stud, Pineapple --...

Obama is a gifted orator, and no one can take that from him. What he lacks is sincerity, and the ability to deliver the dessert he is promising this country. He could read the back of Betty Crocker cake mix and sound convincing...but that doesn't mean you should vote for him. In fact I think we can all consider Obama the Betty Crocker of the presidential election. (Yes Betty Crocker is a fictional, white, female but don't read too much into it Mr. Plouffe)

While the leftists in America see fascist and totalitarian boogeymen behind every badge a cop wears, they still call for socialism and communism to take root in America. There is no doubt that the anti-war movement is run by communist sympathizers.

A flood of tears were shed last week for Sara Jane Olson, the former St. Paul resident who is serving time in a California prison for the attempted murder of police officers and participation in a fatal bank robbery. Olson recently obtained early release after serving six years of her sentence, but was re-arrested and returned to prison only days later, after authorities determined that they had miscalculated her parole date. Olson must now serve one additional year. The complaints that led to her re-arrest, according to the Star Tribune, may have come from individuals affected by her crimes—the Los...

It appears that the freedom to be critical of Islam is not supported in either the United States or the Netherlands. AMSTERDAM: The Web site on which the Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders was promoting his film, which is said to be critical of the Koran, has been suspended by its U.S. hosting service. The site formerly showed the film's title, "Fitna" ("Coming Soon"), and an image of a gilded Koran. Now it shows a note that the U.S. company, Network Solutions, is investigating whether the site violates its terms of service. "Network Solutions has received a number of complaints regarding...

One of journalists’ recurring put-downs of bloggers is that they are simply recycling someone else’s news — that there will always be a need for reporters to produce it. Yet, America had a reporterless past and will likely have a reporterless future. And, news will be better for it. We have lost perspective on what a reporter actually is — a middleman. On one side are news events. On the other are audiences who want to know about them. A reporter’s job is to move “the truth” from Point A to Point B as accurately as possible...
