...The election coverage from Big Media has been unusually partisan this time around. As Newsweek's Evan Thomas famously remarked: "Let's talk a little media bias here. The media, I think, wants Kerry to win... that's going to be worth maybe 15 points." ...Mr. Kerry, as even many Dems are admitting, is a weak candidate. But the big media advantage doesn't seem to have turned out to be as big as some thought. ...In a Boston Herald ...Mr. Kerry wrote: "On more than one occasion, I, like Martin Sheen in 'Apocalypse Now,' took my patrol boat into Cambodia...." But the story...

Rogue AARP members are targeting a web site with the address JeffBlogworthy.com for "removal". The attack is an allegory of what has been happening to the Bush administration in recent months. The AARP liberals pulled out the standard playbook: 1)Ignore the facts 2)Demagogue opponents 3)Silence dissent 4)Distort the truth 5)Make threats 6)Wallow in willful ignorance Here is the post content detailing the complaint: Bush Blog site caught in lie & deceptionIt has been a great day I started the first step in removing a RNC blog site that uses typical Bush Mafia Tactics, and uses lies, deception. While using Google,...

I'm new to blogs. Enjoy reading all the great stuff here. I have some basic ideas on what the meanings are for some of the common phrases, but at times I'm concerned as to what the real intention is. Specifically terms such as "ping" and "bump". Are they synonymous(sp.)? Are there other common terms that I should know? Maybe a 'bloggers quick reference'?

<p>Note: I am editing this post for various security reasons. We just got back on base. For a while there, I didn’t think that would happen. We got ambushed yesterday, except it was a twenty-one hour ambush.</p> <p>At about four AM the other day, the coalition force rode out the gate and took back the town. At nine thirty we rolled out, arrived at our usual destination, and by ten thirty, we were under fire. We were in a compound of five or six major buildings, large enough to be hotels, not quite large enough to be palaces, that had once been owned by Chemical Ali.</p>

[For obvious reasons, I'm not linking directly to this site.] There are pictures of popular liberal blogger Atrios here: www.dailykos.com/story/2004/3/29/44616/4711 However, his face has been blurred. Does anyone have any crowd shots of this event that might give us some clue to his identity? Visit Atrios' site here for more fun: atrios.blogspot.com There has been speculation in the mainstream media about Atrios' identity. Some thought he might be Sid Blumenthal, but he denied it: http://www.liberaloasis.com/blumenthal.htm

Tragically we lost a journalist/ blogger about a week ago in an ambush by terrorists in middle Iraq. Colonel Robert Zangas courageously served 6 months with the USMC this past year as a Civil Affairs Officer in the 4th Civil Affairs Group; and shortly after, returned as a volunteer civilian with the Coalition Provisional Authority working in the Public Affairs Department until June. Zabgas was also a popular blogger (militarypages.com) read by many of us here on the net. "The purpose of my blog," Bob said, "is to keep you up to speed on my activities, see pictures of where...

Pics are located here http://healingiraq.blogspot.com/basrah1.html Back from Basrah Got back the day before yesterday. We spent two days there and we should be back next monday. Basrah is truly wonderful and unlike anything I expected. The weather is warm, electric power is available 24/7, mobile phones have already flourished, clean streets, IP everywhere, very little traffic jams, no endless queues at petrol stations, and most importantly the security situation is much stable. I didn't hear a single gunshot during my two days stay, whereas in Baghdad gunfire and sudden explosions have become the background of everyday activity. It was almost...

'I became the profane pervert Arab blogger' It began as an internet joke with a friend in Jordan. But then the media - including the Guardian - picked it up, and suddenly he was the Baghdad blogger, the most famous web diarist in the world. Salam Pax describes what it was like to play cat-and-mouse with Saddam's censors. My name is Salam Pax and I am addicted to blogs. Some people watch daytime soaps, I follow blogs. I follow the hyperlinks on the blogs I read. I travel through the web guided by bloggers. I get wrapped up in the...

FOUND ON WEB =================== STANFORD UNIVERSITYA new guest blogger: Howard Dean Yesterday, I completed a draft of a new book. Tomorrow, Bettina and I leave for our first vacation in a very long time (and, as we expect, the last vacation the two of us will take alone in a very long time). So it is time for me to take a break from this space too. But I’ve arranged for a much more interesting guest blogger while I’m gone: former governor, and presidential candidate, Howard Dean. This is, I believe, the first time a presidential candidate has been a...

Redefining Conservatives By John Bender George Bush is getting credit for redefining the Republican Party and taking issues away from the Democrats by advancing their agenda and taking credit for the advances. He is not getting credit for an even bigger accomplishment, redefining the political labels in use for about 100 years. By calling himself a conservative, Bush is redefining the term. Since at least as far back as Woodrow Wilson's administration, the word conservative meant someone who favored smaller government, less government spending, and a belief that it was not the government's job to redistribute wealth from those...

Salam Pax Is Real How do I know Baghdad's famous blogger exists? He worked for me. By Peter Maass Posted Monday, June 2, 2003, at 2:05 PM PT Baghdad was hectic when two blogging friends e-mailed me to suggest that I track down "Salam Pax." I had no idea who or what they were talking about. I could have handed over the job of sorting out this Salam Pax thing to my interpreter—he was a clever and funny Iraqi who never failed to provide what I needed, whether it was interviews or pizza—but I let it pass. I thought I...

We're posting it early to get the story out. Weblogs are going Googling. THE LEFTISTS ARE WHINING again. In the ‘80s, they sniveled, "Why is talk radio right-wing?" In the ‘90s, they wept, "Why do conservatives rule the Internet?" Now a new version of the same old complaint has arisen: "Why are all the blog sites conservative?" The answer to all three questions is the same. Talk radio, webzines, list servers, message boards and now blog sites have one thing in common. They are interactive. They let people talk back. Consequently, it is physically impossible for new media to do what old media did – that is, to shove unpopular ideas down peoples’...
