When I was linking to CBS News for my Stupefy Me report earlier today (directly below), I came across this gem of a story (FR THREAD ON THE CBS ARTICLE: Blogs: New Medium, Old Politics NEW YORK, Dec. 8, 2004). It appears that CBS News not only is striking back at the blogs and bloggers that took out Dan Rather and embarrassed their entire organization, but they are also supporting censorship of us rascally citizens. Internet blogs are providing a new and unregulated medium for politically motivated attacks. With the same First Amendment protections as newspapers, blogs are increasingly gaining...

SEATTLE (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. (MSFT.O: Quote, Profile, Research) unveiled on Wednesday a new set of Web-based services allowing users of its MSN service to publish and track each other's blogs, or online journals. The new free blogging service, called MSN Spaces, was launched as a preliminary test service along with newly updated online software for swapping instant messages and sharing photos, the world's largest software maker said. Blogs, short for "Web logs," have become a popular way for Web users to publish their opinions, observations and information on the Internet to a wide audience. "This is a simple tool...

The website of the National Institute of Truth Verification, which markets the Computerized Voice Stress Analyzer (CVSA) -- a purported voice-based lie detector -- confirms that the U.S. Government is using this device for intelligence purposes in the war on terror. And yet the manufacturer has admitted in court that the device "is not capable of lie detection." See, Federal Use of CVSA Confirmed.

It looks as though the liberals, unable to win at the polls, are resorting to these Mary Cheney-esque tactics again. Weren't they supposed to be the party of tolerance?

Our friend, Aleksander Boyd, the brave blogger opposing the Castroite thug President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, shows readers some of the alarming threats and hatred his courageous website Vcrisis generates. This is no joke. We send our best wishes and our prayers to him.

Ali, Omar and Mohammed, three brothers whose blog Iraq The Model was one of the first to open a window directly into Iraq and helped pioneer blogging by Iraqis, publish love letters to their readers and to their liberators on this auspicious occasion of their one year blog anniversary. Al Yarmouk Hospital Attacked! Wednesday, November 10, 20 AlYarmouk Causality Department (ER) is one of the busiest hospitals in Baghdad. It is attended by many poor and middle class people and the local population. Following the Fatwa of the 26 Saudi ignorant and illiterate thugs last week the terrorist attacks increased on civilians and service sites every where in Iraq. One of the targets following that Fatwa is the ER department of the Al Yarmouk Hospital. BOSTON—By examining web-traffic data for left-leaning DailyKos.com, researchers have predicted that the mass suicide of 14 political bloggers will likely be discovered sometime in mid-December. “After months of doing nothing but sit alone in our rooms at our computers, trying to get our message to the people, we lost the election anyway,” read the still-unread suicide pact posted Nov. 3. “We’d rather be dead than live in a country as f-cked up as this one.” The bodies will most likely be found by property managers, long-estranged parents, or neighbors returning copies of Joe Trippi’s The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.

THE TAX Wednesday, November 10, 2004 Hi, You have surely heard of the kidnapping of the relatives of Dr. Alawi, his cousin, aged more than seventy years old, the cousin’s wife and his daughter in law. The daughter in law is said to be pregnant. Immediately afterward, an internet site announces that they will be beheaded if some impossible demands which can be summarized as total surrender to these miserable Dead Enders. Can you imagine this; beheading a pregnant young woman whose only fault is being a relative of the Prime Minister. Now you know the kind of people who...

Web of Influence By Daniel W. Drezner, Henry Farrell November/December 2004 Every day, millions of online diarists, or “bloggers,” share their opinions with a global audience. Drawing upon the content of the international media and the World Wide Web, they weave together an elaborate network with agenda-setting power on issues ranging from human rights in China to the U.S. occupation of Iraq. What began as a hobby is evolving into a new medium that is changing the landscape for journalists and policymakers alike. It was March 21, 2003—two days after the United States began its “shock and awe” campaign against...

Free Republic has been credited by Time Magazine as having the Best Blog Scoop during Election '04. On page 23 of the latest Time Magazine issue, dated November 15, 2004, in the Notebook section there is a photo of John Kerry in his NASA Bunny suit. Just below this photo, there is a headline that says, "Best Blog Scoop". It reads;"FreeRepublic.com is the first to claim that the documents obtained by CBS News regarding Bush's National Guard service were most likely faked." Kudos to the Pajamahedeen at FR and big one to Buckhead!

I'm interested in setting up my own permanent political blog. I have a pro-Bush site, although not technically a blog, was viewed as one by the Dan Rather types. What about blogspot? Kerry Haters used that platform? And blogspot is now--according to their site--starting thru google, allowing ads where the blogger can get few nickels for the blogger. (I have no plans to quit my day job, so if the $$ from such a site get my kids an extra Christmas present, that's fine.) Or should I buy software and buy a domain? I really like Crush Kerry as a...

Today’s Special Election Day DUmmie FUnnies editions starts off much earlier than I had planned. Why? Because yesterday I was suffering a bad case of the pre-election jitters. However, when I woke up this morning my mood completely changed since I am now secure in the knowledge that Bush will WIN big. However, the mood on the DUmmie site is now shifting from false optimism to downright gloom. You can see an example of DUmmie gloom on this THREAD appropriately titled, “I'm very used to having the American people disappoint the shit out of me.” And I think, DUmmie BurtWorm...

http://jaycost.blogspot.com/2004/11/poll-update.html Probability of Best Path for Minimal Bush EV Victory (NM, FL, WI): 91.4% Probability of Best Path for Minimal Kerry EV Victory (PA, OH, FL): 0.2% Analysis: I cleaned out all the old polls (i.e. those released before 10.27) and, lo and behold, it would seem that Bush now has a lead in PA! His lead in OH has strengthened, and his lead in FL, IA, WI remain strong. I still maintain that (A) PA is the true toss-up in this race; (B) Minnesota will be the dark horse Bush victory. Also, to correct my predicted EV score, it...
