  • Vanity: Big-Tech Has Backed Themselves Into A Corner

Big-Tech has managed to upset at least 75 million people and users and this seems to me to be a very bad spot to be in. They can't afford to do anything at all against the Left because doing so will certainly bring new laws to reign them in and that is the last thing they want. How do they get out of this mess? What will be there next move? I believe this move will bring competition like they have never had before and that may be the final outcome.
  • Critics Skeptical as Flu Scientists Argue for Controversial H7N9 Studies

Flu scientists are hoping to vaccinate themselves against another outbreak of a crippling controversy. In a letter published this week by Nature and Science (see p. 612), 22 researchers make their case for launching potentially risky experiments with the H7N9 avian influenza virus, which emerged earlier this year in China and which some scientists fear could spark a deadly human pandemic. The scientists, who mostly work in U.S.-funded labs, also detail the safety and security precautions that they would take to prevent the possibly dangerous viruses they create from escaping from the lab—or falling into the hands of terrorists. In...

Rapid mental rejuvenation in old mice suggests age-related losses may be broadly reversible. Just a few doses of an experimental drug can reverse age-related declines in memory and mental flexibility in mice, according to a new study by UC San Francisco scientists. The drug, called ISRIB, has already been shown in laboratory studies to restore memory function months after traumatic brain injury (TBI), reverse cognitive impairments in Down Syndrome, prevent noise-related hearing loss, fight certain types of prostate cancer, and even enhance cognition in healthy animals. In the new study, published on December 1, 2020, in the open-access journal eLife,...

The president of local biotechnology firm GenPhar is accused of defrauding the federal government out of at least $3.6 million the company received to research vaccines against deadly diseases. The charges are contained in federal indictments unsealed today that also accuse GenPhar president Jian-Yun Dong and his estranged wife of making at least $31,000 in illegal campaign contributions to U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham and his political action committee. Dong, who also is chief executive officer of GenPhar, is accused of submitting false claims to federal agencies, converting grant funds to his own use and committing wire fraud to scam the...

abundantly clear that the real purpose of the engineered COVID-19 bioweapon was to allow Democrats to steal the election via mail-in ballot fraud. By deploying the coronavirus weapon in China and allowing it to spread globally (thanks to the WHO and left-wing media calling Trump a "racist" for trying to close flights from China), the globalists were able to engineer long-duration lockdowns across America in defiance of medical or scientific justification. ... (Right to Life UK) – A Chinese biotech firm has declared “screening out” babies with Down syndrome is a “cash cow” funding the growth of the whole business. The admission comes from a spokesperson for BGI Group – a Chinese genetics conglomerate whose main business is offering non-invasive prenatal tests, primarily used to diagnose Down syndrome. In a segment from an Aljazeera documentary titled Genesis 2.0, the spokesperson gestures towards a digital map of the world and says: “You can see clearly, especially for Down’s syndrome, we have nearly two million samples all over the world. This part is, what...

The Los Angeles Times touted a new media lobbying effort to expand federal ad spending by billions of dollars for local media companies. In a story headlined, “Rocked by coronavirus losses, TV, radio, newspapers seek government ad dollars,” The Times pushed the case for expanded government-funding of media outlets. “Every year the federal government spends around $1 billion in advertising to promote its programs and military recruitment,” The Times said. The outlet also pulled on the heart strings of its readers. It stated how media companies were “financially devastated by the coronavirus outbreak, “even as the hunger for news and information...

Tiny biotech company Sorrento Therapeutics (SRNE) claimed Friday its experimental coronavirus treatment is a cure for Covid-19. Meanwhile, another company said it gained authorization for a coronavirus test. In preclinical testing, Sorrento's antibody drug provided "100% inhibition" of SARS-CoV-2 — the new coronavirus that causes Covid-19 — within four days. Sorrento expects this antibody to be the first in a drug cocktail that would create a "protective shield" against infection. "Our STI-1499 antibody shows exceptional therapeutic potential and could potentially save lives following receipt of necessary approvals," Chief Executive Henry Ji said in a written statement. "We at Sorrento are...

Amidst the human tragedy and media storm that is the coronavirus pandemic, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that persistent threats to human health and well-being that pre-existed the COVID-19 still remain. Hunger and malnutrition, constantly simmering threats that only rarely get the attention of the pandemic de jour, kill and harm far more people every year than the coronavirus. This is worth remembering as the world recovers from the coronavirus crisis and life returns to a semblance of normality. Whatever the new normal will be, we should sustain and increase efforts to reduce premature mortality from starvation...

Under Beijing's civil-military fusion strategy, the PLA is sponsoring research on gene editing, human performance enhancement, and more. We may be on the verge of a brave new world indeed. Today’s advances in biotechnology and genetic engineering have exciting applications in medicine — yet also alarming implications, including for military affairs. China’s national strategy of military-civil fusion (军民融合) has highlighted biology as a priority, and the People’s Liberation Army could be at the forefront of expanding and exploiting this knowledge. The PLA’s keen interest is reflected in strategic writings and research that argue that advances in biology are contributing to...

India’s biotech scene is buzzing, with over 600 companies and 2,800 startups which collectively contributed approximately US$12 billion to the country’s economy in 2017. But amid the thousands of hopefuls trying to make it big in India, one name stands out: Bangalore-headquartered Biocon, arguably the country’s biggest biotech success story. Founded in 1978 with just US$140 in capital, Biocon closed its first day of trading in 2004 a billion-dollar company. Since then, the company has become a global powerhouse, producing everything from biosimilars to bispecific antibodies. We caught up with Biocon’s founder, Ms. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, at the 2019 Forbes Global...

When 69-year-old Marietta Jinde died in September 2016, police had already been called to her home several times because of reports of possible abuse. A detective described conditions at the woman’s home in Gardena as “horrendous.” She was so emaciated and frail that the hospital asked Los Angeles County adult protective services officials to look into her death. Yet by the time a coroner’s investigator was able to examine Jinde’s 70-pound body, the bones from her legs and arms were gone. Also missing were large patches of skin from her back. With permission from county officials and saying they did...

The California Attorney General’s Office asked for a court gag order Tuesday that could prevent the public from learning the truth about David Daleiden’s shocking undercover investigation of Planned Parenthood. Daleiden and Sandra Merritt face 15 felony charges for invasion of privacy in California after they exposed Planned Parenthood’s allegedly illegal sales of aborted baby body parts. Their preliminary hearing began last week with a witness for the abortion industry admitting that the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) videos were “not altered.” Then, a biotech company CEO who worked with Planned Parenthood admitted that they harvested aborted babies’ hearts while...

It was a partnership Planned Parenthood’s former president once bragged she was “proud” of. “Proud,” apparently, of cutting into tiny baby bodies when their hearts are still beating. “Proud,” it turns out, of putting women through riskier abortion procedures to get better, more valuable baby organs. And “proud,” most of all, that her medical directors were negotiating higher prices for the little livers, limbs, and brains her business was harvesting. Four years later, pride is the last thing anyone felt at the courtroom where the gory details of Planned Parenthood’s baby butcher ring came tumbling out. While the country’s abortion...

Scientists at San Francisco-based biotech start-up Muufri -- (get it, moo free?) -- have developed a formula to re-create cow milk: six proteins for structure and function and eight fatty acids for flavor and richness, according to Muufri’s website. The milk product is also free of lactose and cholesterol and because it’s created in a lab, its seen as a sustainable alternative to traditional dairy cattle operations. According to Muufri, lactose is “partially indigestible by 75 percent of adults,” so the decision to leave it out creates a healthier product. Founders of Muufri, Ryan Pandya, Perumal Gandhi and Isha Datar,...

Researchers breed animals whose organs may be compatible with humans There are more than 120,000 people in the U.S. waiting for an organ transplant and not enough donors. The dire shortage has led some researchers to consider an unusual solution: They are breeding genetically modified pigs whose organs could be compatible for human transplant. Researchers have been trying for decades to make animal-to-human transplants work, a process known as xenotransplantation. Pigs are a particularly promising source of organs. They produce big litters. Organs such as the kidney and liver are similar... To Read the Full Story Subscribe
