Let’s face it; there are a lot more BB guns and air rifles available than when we were kids. In fact, most options available these days are designed and marketed to fully-grown up kids. However, there is still one model that stands apart from the rest. The best BB gun for your kids to learn on is still the Red Ryder…

Black Bear hunting may be the most varied kind of hunting on the planet and it’s a very different hunting experience to every person you talk to. It could mean hunting over bait or spot and stalk, with boats or with hounds, arrows or bullets, public land or private. It could be within an hour’s drive of home or an all-out Alaskan adventure. In the last three years, I’ve tried most of the methods and I’ve brought home two black bears. Whatever you think you know about each of those methods, don’t judge them until you’ve tried them yourself. Hunting...

I'm looking for a semi-auto CO2 powered bbgun for my son. We intend to replace the stock with a wooden one that he'll make in his woodshop class. This is an intersection of several projects. It needs to be semi-auto with as many rounds as possible available. We will be installing a TV remote motion sensing target system for critters in the back yard and... because... it's a fun project. But that precludes pump action, needs to be CO2 powered. It needs to be a long barrel rifle because of accuracy and also the mechanism for clampdown requires a long,...

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — He looks like a typical 7-year-old boy, but on Tuesday night, Sam Grant is facing charges that many adults never will. He is charged with two felonies for something that happened when his mother turned her back for just a second. His parents told Eyewitness News that they're outraged. "We are both just shocked. We have been in a state of shock over this," said Ray Robbins. Sam's parents said this scenario began in February when Sam was playing outside with his BB gun. They said he began shooting at an abandoned house right across the...

A convicted felon barred from carrying a firearm broke the law when he started toting a BB gun, the Minnesota Court of Appeals has ruled. John Fleming Jr. couldn't legally carry a gun because of two felony assault convictions, so he packed a BB gun instead. Ramsey County prosecutors decided Fleming was splitting hairs and charged him with unlawful possession of a firearm. Fleming won when a Ramsey County District judge threw out the charge, ruling the statute doesn't apply to BB guns. But the appeals court ruled prosecutors could again take aim at the two-time felon. The appellate court...

The Chicago City Council, reacting to the shooting of a teenager, has banned the sale and possession of air guns such as BB guns that look like real guns. The ban also applies to any replica that shoots a projectile, reports the Chicago Sun-Times. The action comes in the wake of the August police shooting of a teenager who was carrying a Daisy PowerLine Model 93 BB-gun made to look like a Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistol. "This will help save the lives of many, many people ... If an officer has to hesitate and examine the situation to see...

Dangerous occasionshttp://www.theage.com.au/news/books/dangerous-occasions/2006/08/03/1154198267699.html http://tinyurl.com/oaq6r August 6, 2006 The Iggulden brothers' instructions make short work of children's fears. By Frances Atkinson. It's a miracle the Iggulden brothers survived their very "dangerous" childhood. First Conn fell through the garage roof, then he made his little brother, Hal, jump off it. Moments before take-off, Conn told him, "If you yell out, 'Fly like an eagle,' when you jump - it won't hurt." "It was a lie, of course," says Conn talking from his London home. "But it did teach him about fear and a bit about not trusting his older brother quite so much."...

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Two eighth-graders who spent months working on a science project to prove how dangerous BB guns can be were disqualified from the state middle school science fair. The reason for the dismissal: BB guns are too dangerous. Nathan C. Woodard and Nathaniel A. Gorlin-Crenshaw spent seven months researching and testing their hypothesis that BB guns can be deadly and should not be used by children. The students spent about $200 on ballistics gelatin, which has the same density and consistency as human flesh, to use during their tests. Nancy G. Degon, vice president of Massachusetts State...

One of our family's favorite Christmas movies is "A Christmas Story." This Holiday classic recounts the yearnings of young Ralphie for a Red Ryder BB gun, and details his devious plan to secure one for Christmas despite his mother's fears he will "shoot his eye out." If some in Cobb County have their way, young Ralphie would not only run the risk of "shooting his eye out" (he didn't, by the way), but would be subject to being prosecuted as a criminal if he used his "weapon" to shoot a tin can in his own back yard. All of us...

day dream toy? Modern-day BB gun is no such thing Rebecca Thoman Published December 12, 2003 A boy's Christmas wish list that includes BB or pellet guns is a parent's worst nightmare. One look at contemporary pellet guns, named and modeled after their grown-up counterparts, the Uzi semiautomatic or the Magnum .44, should convince any parent that these "toys" are not what they used to be. Modern BB guns are nothing like the wooden-stock rifles of 1938, the kind yearned for by Ralphie in the holiday classic, "A Christmas Story." Eighty percent of BB guns on the market today attain...

Take BB guns from kids, police ask Oak Park police Monday urged parents to confiscate BB and pellet guns from children after a weekend vandalism spree left 10 vehicles with damaged windows. "No good can come from BB guns," said Oak Park Police Comdr.. Robert Scianna, department spokesman. "They're not a toy. Kids can hurt themselves or cause property damage. A BB gun is one step away from the real thing. Buy your kid a football or a baseball." Windows on ten vehicles were reported damaged over the weekend by BB and pellet rounds on the 600, 800 and 1200...
