"Ray Anderson Barnhart was State Chairman of the Republican Party during a critical juncture of the party’s history. Elected in 1977, he served throughout the 1978 general elections which resulted in the election of the first Republican Governor since reconstruction, Bill Clements. <p>A man wanted for slaying a mother, father and a baby blew himself up this morning before state police could apprehend him at a roadblock in Westmoreland County. Donald Robinson Barnhart, 31, of Hyde Park, died at the scene of the explosion on Route 819 near Route 66 in Washington Township, District Attorney Scott Andreassi said. He was wanted on three counts of criminal homicide.</p>
