"We were very scared, because it was the first time we had seen this," Castellano said. Keepers in Ecuador put that bear, which had previously been fed human food—including Coca-Cola—on its natural diet of fruits and bamboo, and added enrichment items, such as toys and exotic foods, into the bear's enclosure. Four months later the fur grew back.

JUNE 10--Now that he is a ward of the California state prison system, wig-loving murderer Phil Spector has been forced to return to his au naturel state. As seen in the below mug shot, the 69-year-old Spector's dome is no longer covered by one of the fright wigs he wore during his criminal trials (the most recent of which ended in the music producer's conviction for killing actress Lana Clarkson in February 2003). Spector, who was sentenced last month to 19 years in prison, was photographed after arriving last week at the North Kern State Prison Reception Center in Delano.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- The state Ethics Commission will investigate the scandal in which top aides to Gov. Eliot Spitzer used state police in a plot to discredit Republican Senate leader Joseph Bruno, according to a letter obtained by The Associated Press. The letter dated Thursday says the state Ethics Commission, which has subpoena power, will investigate the case that has dominated the Albany agenda since an investigative report was released Monday by state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo. The letter addressed to Cuomo was provided by a state official on the condition of anonymity because the investigation hadn't been officially...

The senator suggested that the Senate investigations committee, the Assembly investigations committee and the State Investigations Commission could launch new examinations. "I'm told by counsel that we have subpoena...

Just as reports of Britney Spears entering and exiting rehab began to die down, local ABC affiliate KABC aired video of a bald Spears getting a tattoo last night in Sherman Oaks. There are stills of Britney shaving her head at celebvids.co.uk. Apparently every move the woman makes is photographed in some way. Spears doesn't look drunk in the photos... or very happy.... Although we sorta like the new 'do as it reminds us a little G.I. Jane action, some of the fans who sped down to "Body and Soul" to catch a peek of the pop star weren't...

The North Korean Regime Stability Assessment by the government-run Korea Institute for National Unification has revealed many unknown parts about North Korean society. In particular, the details of in-depth interviews of 12 North Korean defectors who held a high-ranking position in the North help us understand why the North Korean society is fundamentally shaken. All the former top North Korean officials unanimously say that nothing is possible without paying kickbacks in the bureaucratic regime of the Stalinist country. “It is linked like a chain because lower ranking officials give bribes to their immediate superiors and the superiors give bribes to...

NEW YORK - The $300 billion the United States has spent prosecuting the war in Iraq could have been better used stabilizing Afghanistan against the resurgence of the Taliban, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said in an interview broadcast Sunday. “Three hundred billion dollars? You give that to Afghanistan and we will be heaven in less than a year,” Karzai said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

IF politics is showbiz for ugly people, John Howard has just won an Oscar. In front of a packed press conference in the White House, US President George W Bush outlined the reasons for his close friendship with the Australian prime minister - and it sure isn't his looks. In the space of one answer, Mr Bush described the man standing by his side as bald and no oil painting - but a terrific leader. And Mr Bush put paid to any thought that Mr Howard might be retiring at the end of this year, saying he did not expect...

TALL, dark and handsome is the classic description of the perfect man. But when it comes to perfect husbands, shorter men stand head and shoulders above the rest, a study has found. Women regard taller men as excellent for a fling but see short men as better companions to settle down with. This could explain why Nicole Kidman married Tom Cruise, who at 170.2cm is 10cm shorter than her. But she only ever dated the 190cm Steve Bing. Or why Penny Lancaster, a rangy 180cm plus, chose the shorter Rod Stewart as her husband-to-be. So did his 183cm ex-wife, Rachel...

Forty-eight percent of the women in the online poll for Cargo magazine say men shouldn't even worry about hair loss, while 32 recommend going with the flow and cutting all hair off. But only 1 percent suggest hiding a balding head under a cap or a comb-over. Fifty-eight percent of the women say men look sexiest in jeans and a t-shirt, but they hate men in anything too trendy: 92 percent hated leather pants, 91...
