As they prepare to finally cough up more than 24,000 pages of Sarah Palin's emails gleaned from her brief, odd stint as governor, Alaska officials tut-tut they are going to withhold 2,415 pages from the public. Why? Those communications are privileged, personal or somehow exempt from Alaska's disclosure laws. Or so they say. How convenient. Guess where the good stuff will be. No, really. Guess. Now, you might wonder, as I do, how emails sent or received by a governor or her minions on state time, using state resources, yakking about state business can be personal or exempt from disclosure...
  • Palin Slam-Author Advised To Take Ethical Training While Palin Was Cleared

The anti-Palin books headed our way are sure to delight the usual Palin-bashing keyboard addicts punching away until the wee hours of the night. On the other hand, they could serve as amusement to others as they become aware of the actual facts. Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin is set for release May 24, 2011 and bears the authenticity of being the only anti-Palin book co-authored by a former aide of the Governor. Frank Bailey served with Governor Palin during her election campaign and victory. Aside from that, it is quite predictable: the book's other authors are Jeanne Devon, a...

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- Alaska's attorney general is investigating whether a former aide of Sarah Palin wrongly used email messages between her and staffers as the basis of a book critical of the ex-governor and former vice presidential candidate, the Anchorage Daily News reported Tuesday. The book by Frank Bailey is due to be released May 24. The probe was initiated following an ethics complaint lodged by Anchorage resident Andree McLeod last September.
  • Personnel board member to McLeod: "Just keep bitching."(RE: SARAH)

Today’s meeting of the state personnel board offered no shortage of melodrama, with board member Al Tamagni telling Andree McLeod to “just keep bitching” and threatening to sue her. It started after McLeod, who has had her ethics complaints against Sarah Palin dismissed by the personnel board, tore into the board during the time set aside for the public to speak. “For anyone to even criticize a person like myself who wants to file complaints and does so and then call me a serial complainer and then complain about the cost? What is the cost of corruption? What is the...

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Another ethics complaint has been filed against Gov. Sarah Palin, alleging she abused her office by accepting a salary and used state staff while campaigning as the Republican vice presidential candidate last year. It's the 18th ethics complaint filed against Palin, and the third since Palin announced her resignation July 3. In her resignation speech, Palin cited the complaints as taking a personal toll and crippling her ability to govern effectively. She officially steps down July 26. The latest complaint was filed Monday and is the fifth by outspoken Palin critic Andree McLeod of Anchorage. Three of...
