It’s been a rather strange 2016 season in the NFL. Teams expected to be among the top contenders (Colts and Packers) are fighting for their playoff lives, while teams not expected to do much (Raiders and Cowboys) sit atop their divisions and look to secure home-field advantage. Such unpredictability helps make the NFL exciting and fun each year. Two playoff contenders, the Cowboys and Vikings, will battle it out on Thursday Night Football this week. The Cowboys own the NFC East with the best record in the NFL (10-1). They’re also riding a 10-game winning streak thanks to rookie quarterback...

First, the Dallas Cowboys' Web site said that they were going to keep Wade Phillips. Then the team said that wasn't official yet. At the end of the day, though, Phillips is still the head coach for the Dallas Cowboys.Wade Phillips' contract option was picked up and Jerry Jones added two more years to the deal.Phillips is 33-15 in three years with Dallas and has a major playoff win over the division rival Philadelphia Eagles. He has taken this team's defense to second overall in the entire NFL. Seven Cowboys are going to the Pro Bowl this year. More can come...

One of the heroes of the game nearly became a bus driver. The owner of the team walks to work every day. The fans of the team drink Iron City beer, wave dish towels and ignored the slumping economy

Irving, TX (Sports Network) - The Dallas Cowboys on Friday signed free agent safety Ken Hamlin. No further details of the signing have been released. Hamlin, who will be entering his fifth season, spent his first four years in the NFL in Seattle after the team drafted him in the second round of the 2003 draft. Last season he tied a career-high in tackles with 96 and also had two sacks and three interceptions as he appeared in every game with the Seahawks. In 54 games, Hamlin has amassed 298 tackles with four sacks and eight interceptions in his career.

Flamboyant Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens tried to kill himself by overdosing on pain medication, even putting two more pills into his mouth after a friend intervened, according to a police report obtained Wednesday. Owens left the hospital late Wednesday morning, giving reporters a "thumbs up" but making no comment as he was driven away in an SUV. Publicist Kim Etheredge said in various interviews Wednesday with Dallas-area media that the police have gotten the story wrong. She said she was with Owens, who was having trouble because he'd

Aikman, Emmitt, Irvin Heading Into Ring Of Honor By Nick Eatman DallasCowboys.com Staff Writer July 20, 2005, 1:31 PM (CDT) IRVING, Texas - For 10 consecutive seasons, they were linked synonymously as the Cowboys enjoyed their most successful run in franchise history. In any order, it was always Troy, Emmitt and Michael, not a last name required to identify any in this trio of superstars. While the glory days might have passed for Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin, all retiring over the past five years, including Smith who just called it quits at this year's past Super Bowl,...

Stiff Competition Expected For Third Tight End Position By Nick Eatman DallasCowboys.com Staff Writer June 16, 2005, 5:55 PM (CDT) IRVING, Texas - With the start of training camp less than two months away, there are a handful of positions wide open, not only in need of a starter but backups as well. Of course, there is free safety and right tackle. There also could be some hot competition at linebacker and center. But that is not the case at tight end. Jason Witten made sure of that with his performance last year, setting several club records and earning his...

Posted on Mon, Dec. 29, 2003 Are Eagles 'America's Team' now? Cowboys are a joke, while Birds thrive By JIM NOLAN, nolanj@phillynews.com THE DALLAS Cowboys may be back in the playoffs, but it's about time they relinquish one of their titles: "America's Team." With a Super Bowl win this time 'round, that designation could rightfully belong to your Philadelphia Eagles. OK, maybe it's the egg nog talking. Or perhaps it's a spike in our holiday spirit thanks to a late Christmas present from the Detroit Lions, who beat the St. Louis Rams yesterday to give the 12-4 Birds home field...
