President Donald Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court, Judge Amy Coney Barrett, will tell the Senate Judiciary Committee on Oct. 12 that the Supreme Court shouldn’t try to make policy. “I have been nominated to fill Justice Ginsburg’s seat, but no one will ever take her place,” Barrett writes in her remarks, which she is expected to present to the committee. The Twitter account of NBC News correspondent and third presidential debate moderator Kristen Welker has been deactivated on Friday amid the tweeting controversy surrounding C-SPAN host Steve Scully. Hours after Scully's Twitter account was deleted following an alleged hacking that took place on Thursday night, Welker's own account was no longer active. Fox News is told that Welker deactivated her own account and was not asked to by the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD), according to an NBC source. Fox News reached out to the CPD and NBC News for comment.

The FBI and Twitter are investigating a claim made by C-SPAN host Steve Scully that his Twitter account was hacked when it posted a message for Anthony Scaramucci, one of President Trump's fiercest critics, days before he was to moderate a debate. 'Steve Scully notified us that his Twitter account was hacked,' the Commission on Presidential Debates tweeted on Friday. The Delaware man charged in federal court with conspiring to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has a long criminal history and was pardoned just last year by Delaware’s governor for crimes dating to 1994, according to state records. Barry G. Croft Jr., 44, was taken into custody this week after being arrested by the FBI in Swedesboro, New Jersey. Croft made an initial appearance before a federal magistrate in Wilmington on Thursday. Croft was being held Friday at a state prison in Wilmington. A hearing on his continued detention and removal to Michigan is scheduled for Tuesday.
