ANCHORAGE, Alaska — For the first time ever, parts of Alaska will be under a heat advisory — but you can put an asterisk at the end of that term. It's not the first instance of unusually high temperatures in what many consider the nation's coldest state, but the National Weather Service only recently allowed for heat advisories to be issued there. Information on similarly warm weather conditions previously came in the form of "special weather statements." Using the heat advisory label could help people better understand the weather's severity and potential danger, something a nondescript "special weather statement" didn't...

Washington -- The White House says billionaire Elon Musk is not technically part of the Department of Government Efficiency team that is sweeping through federal agencies but is rather a senior advisor to President Donald Trump. Musk’s exact role could be key in the legal fight over DOGE’s access to government data as the Trump administration moves to lay off thousands of federal workers. Defining him as an advisor rather than the administrator in charge of day-to-day operations at DOGE could help the administration as it pushes back against a lawsuit arguing Musk has too much power for someone who...

CHICAGO — A Chicago alderman is “p***ed off to the highest of pisstivity” after learning that a senior public safety advisor in Mayor Brandon Johnson’s administration was arrested on Tuesday on an outstanding warrant. A longtime senior adviser to former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hit the Biden campaign over its strategy in a New York Times op-ed Sunday, arguing the president is siding too much with his base and leaving moderates behind. Mark Penn, who served as an adviser to the Clintons from 1995 to 2008 and now runs the Harris Poll, said focusing on the left wing of the Democratic Party instead of independent voters could cost him in November. “If Mr. Biden wants to serve another four years, he has to stop being dragged to the left...

The struggling German population should be forced to pay a Ukraine tax to continue funding the war against Russia, a top economic advisor to the government has argued. White House economic adviser Jared Bernstein said on this week’s “Fox News Sunday” broadcast that the U.S. economy was “moving on the right track.” Partial transcript as follows: BERNSTEIN: Well, I want to try to paint a realistic picture that’s nuanced, that takes into account everything you just said. But also reflects not just what on people — what people are saying, which we have to listen to, they are the best arbiters of their economic conditions, but also what they’re doing. So we’re just coming out of a Black Friday, that is already setting records for online buying between...

On Friday’s “MSNBC Prime,” White House Council of Economic Advisers member Jared Bernstein refused to admit he got inflation wrong the same way Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen earlier in the week admitted she got inflation wrong — in part due to her failure to fully understand supply problems — and argued that what he said back in 2021 “was very much the case.” And “I’m not going to re-litigate who was right and who was wrong a year ago.” After playing a clip of Bernstein downplaying the longevity of inflation in October 2021, host Mehdi Hasan asked, “Do you want...

White House COVID-19 response coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that Americans should be wearing a mask in crowded indoor spaces to combat the current coronavirus surge. Anchor Martha Raddatz said, “We have the daily case number more than 100,000, I know you think the number is actually higher because of home testing, so what is your advice in these high transmission areas?”

President Joe Biden is expected to hit the campaign trail and start campaigning for Democrats ahead of the November election, despite his abysmal poll numbers, according to an adviser who told Fox News. An adviser to the president said to “expect more POTUS” on the campaign trail as he started to ramp up his campaign endorsements in recent weeks. The adviser said that he would be working to promote his agenda and to “sharpen the contrast” between his administration and Republicans.

The world needs to wake up to the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) bullying and lay down its own rules to deter the regime's aggressions, the China adviser to former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says Miles Yu, a Chinese-born academic who helped shape the Trump administration's China policy, called out the CCP's tactic of threatening the United States, telling it not to interfere in issues deemed to be the regime's 'internal affairs,' including Hong Kong, Tibet, and Xinjiangâwhich it dubs 'red lines.' 'This is [the] Chinese Communist Party's 'red line,' that's all. It's not red lines based upon international law,'...

Joe Biden continues to get the old Obama band back together while assembling his cabinet and White House staff. (Seriously… are there no new people in the Democratic Party?) His latest addition, however, should raise some eyebrows even in his own party. Anita Dunn is having her career resurrected by Uncle Joe, signing on to be one of his senior advisors in the Oval Office. (She’s actually been working on Biden’s campaign since 2019, though primarily in the background.) If that name sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because she served as Barack Obama’s communications director briefly at the beginning...

Turkey is concerned that in "one night" all of the gains made by the Kurdistan Region since the overthrow of the Baathist regime in 2003 could be lost, if the independence referendum is held and could lead to an Iraqi "civil war," a senior Turkish presidential advisor revealed. "We feel that Iraq has made a lot of gains in the past so many years since 2003; and these were rightful gains, the Kurdish people deserved those gains," said Ilnur Cevik, a senior advisor to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
