The story of how it got there may never be known, but a rusting 132-year-old Winchester rifle -- known in U.S. lore as "the gun that won the West" -- was recently found resting against a juniper tree in a Nevada national park. The gun, its stock split, gray and faded like driftwood, and its steel barrel rusted brown, blended in perfectly against the tree in a remote part of the Great Basin National Park until a National Parks Service employee spotted it. “The rifle, exposed for all those years to sun, wind, snow and rain, was found leaning against...

Things aren't looking too good for Bill Cosby. The comedian stayed completely silent when he was asked repeatedly about the rape allegations he's being faced with during an interview with NPR on Saturday, Nov. 15. NPR host Scott Simon asked the Cosby Show star, 77, about the shocking claims that have resurfaced recently while interviewing Cosby and his wife Camille about an exhibit at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art. I just have to put this one down in the “no, this can’t be really happening” category. However, I did everything to examine if this was a hoax but it appears not. According to Vice News, “Lesley McSpadden, the mother of the 18-year-old boy (Michael Brown) whose death at the hands of a Ferguson police officer in August sparked weeks of protests, is going to Geneva, Switzerland next month to speak about her son and other victims of police brutality in front of the United Nations. No stranger to controversial statements, NBA Hall of Famer turned sports commentator, Charles Barkley, blamed stagnation in the Black community on “brainwashed” Black people too “unintelligent” to choose education over street credibility. During an appearance on Philadelphia’s “Afternoons with Anthony Gargano and Rob Ellis” radio show, Sir Charles responded to a Bleacher Report article claiming that teammates of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson felt that he wasn’t “Black enough.” Seahawks’ cornerback Richard Sherman denied the locker room racism, telling CBS Sports, “Nobody in here said that. It’s made up.” Wilson also brushed off the story, saying, “Black enough? I don’t...

Via Mediaite, another incorrect but defensible bit of speculation a la Chuck Todd that would have drawn indignant sputtering online had it come from a conservative. But yeah, as usual, this guy is clearly wrong. Obama will be remembered for many things — putting the country on track towards single-payer health care; getting the left to buy into the surveillance state; declining to make a deal on entitlements before the debt crisis hit; and his most durable achievement, mainstreaming the idea that the president, not Congress, should be the country’s chief instrument in making policy. The double whammy of...
