Low on the horizon in the Texas Panhandle, a faint pink aurora shimmered against a backdrop of thick storm clouds and distant flashes of lightning — a surreal collision of sky and space. Just east of Amarillo, weather videographer and storm chaser Blake Brown captured the rare combination in a single frame: aurora, stars, distant lightning, and a windmill silhouetted in the foreground under a mostly clear sky. "What a spectacular night it was last night," Brown posted on social media Monday, alongside his surreal image. "The northern lights decided to make a little appearance down here in the Texas...

Disney’s crumbling empire just hit another disaster, this time thanks to late-night clown Jimmy Kimmel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney’s top brass, CEO Bob Iger and co-chair Dana Walden, made the decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live! after the disgraced host refused to apologize for falsely pinning the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk on Trump supporters. Instead of showing an ounce of humility, Kimmel doubled down and prepared a fiery, anti-MAGA tirade that executives feared would “fan the flames.” ABC insiders revealed that affiliate owners and advertisers were in open revolt. By Wednesday, 66 of the 200 affiliate stations...

By Paul Sperry RealClearInvestigations: Recently declassified documents indicate that people close to former FBI Director James Comey and Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff were connected to leaks of classified information to prominent reporters designed to portray Donald Trump and his allies as being in league with Russia. Written in 2017, the FBI documents expose how selected Washington reporters, including Ellen Nakashima of the Washington Post and Michael Schmidt of the New York Times, scored a series of Pulitzer Prize-winning scoops in 2017 by repeating false and inflammatory leaks during President Trump’s first term. Much of their reporting has been debunked –...

We often hear that the world of Southern barbecue moves slowly, sticking stubbornly to its time-worn traditions. That may have been the case a few decades ago, but here in 2025 tastes and trends seem to be shifting at a faster and faster pace. It’s been just two years since we released Southern Living’s last list of the Top 50 BBQ Joints in the South, but this year’s rankings look quite different than they did in 2023. The economics of barbecue are increasingly challenging, and the past few years have seen a half dozen former Top 50 restaurants close their...

The Oversight Committee, chaired by James Comer, opened an investigation into the autopen scandal and subpoenaed several Biden aides for documents and testimony. Ex-Biden aide Jeff Zeints dropped bombshells during his testimony to the Oversight Committee on Thursday. Over the summer, the New York Times reported that former White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zeints actually approved pardons for Dr. Fauci and others on January 19: At the Jan. 19 meeting, which took place in the Yellow Oval Room of the White House residence, Mr. Biden kept his aides until nearly 10 p.m. to talk through such decisions, according to...

A dramatic increase in foreclosure filings is the latest bad news for the US housing market, with one state particularly hard hit. In August there were a total of 35,697 properties in the US with foreclosure filings, according to a report by ATTOM. This represents a 1 percent decrease from the previous month, but an 18 percent increase compared to 2924. August was the sixth consecutive month of year-on-year increases in foreclosures and the third month straight with double-digit annual growth. Nevada was worst affected last month, with a foreclosure filing for one in every 2,069 housing units. Foreclosure is...

The Obama library — which isn't a library — has ballooned to a construction cost of more than $615 million, up from the original estimate of $300 million when the edifice was proposed in 2019. As 2024, the estimate had soared to $615 million, with the cost adding up to a whopping $615,674,047. But according to the Chicago Tribune, other estimates have already placed construction costs past the $700 million mark. Along with these massive cost overruns, the Barack Obama Presidential Center has had a very troubled history already, and it hasn’t even been completed yet. Originally, the Obama Center...

“Bloomberg @business Chicago is stepping in to lend cash to its underfunded pensions so they have enough money to avoid asset sales to cover retirement checks as they wait for property taxes to come in after a computer issue delayed collections.” Chicago’s money trees are shedding their autumn layers with a new multi-million dollar government payout package for underfunded public pensions. City officials approved a short-term bailout of the Firemen’s Annuity & Benefit Fund to the tune of $28 million to avoid forced asset sales. That is merely the tip of the iceberg, as Chicago’s pension debt has risen 15%...

Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show was suspended by ABC on Wednesday following a brief pressure campaign from the Trump administration as well as conservatives in the media, who successfully twisted Kimmel’s words following last week’s assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. During Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, the comedian criticized conservatives for trying to “score political points” off Kirk’s death. “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel...

China’s scripted coast-guard incursions around the Senkaku Islands aim to normalize control through mass and proximity. But Japan has reorganized for rapid joint action, dispersing long-range anti-ship missiles across the Ryukyus, expanding fifth-gen air and AEW, and adding Tomahawks to create a lethal denial web. The U.S.–Japan alliance now signals unambiguous coverage, with carrier, Marine Littoral Regiment, and ISR/long-range fires ready to stiffen defense. Who would win a fight?
