“I will praise you, Lord.
    Although you were angry with me,

    and you have comforted me.

2  Surely God is my salvation;
    I will trust and not be afraid.

It hadn't rained in nine weeks in Jerusalem, and now, just in time for the Festival of Sukkot, it was absolutely POURING. (Sukkot is the Holiday when Jewish People eat their meals outdoors in a little hut as a reminder of the years in the desert living in "booths") Even with the inconvenience of getting soaked, the rain was considered an enormous blessing. People were dancing in the streets, splashing through the water, and singing Mayim, Mayim (Water, Water!)

The lyrics of this song are taken directly from Isaiah 12:3, the verse we are looking at today.

Listen carefully to the Hebrew Words. There's a familiar Name in there, a pun on the word for "Salvation".

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Back in my Syracuse University days, a local rabbi had a Sukkot-mobile he would drive around the neighborhood to stop and pray, and celebrate the New Year. If I recall correctly, it was like an old ambulance with the Sukkot dwelling built into the back. We knew he was coming because he had an audio system that blasted klezmer. It was way better than the ice cream truck.
