As a trade deadline with the U.S. hangs over Canada (new window), we have been hearing about Canadians taking the ongoing trade war into their own hands. So we asked you to email ask@cbc.ca (new window) to tell us how and why you have been boycotting U.S. goods and travel. Dozens of you answered the call and told us what you're doing. Unsurprisingly, most mentioned searching out more Canadian products and adopting an anything but American mentality when Canadian alternatives aren't available. You also told us about skipping out on travel to the U.S. and becoming more mindful about where...

The Presidential Fitness Test is coming back. President Donald Trump will sign an executive order Thursday afternoon reinstating the national fitness assessment implemented in public schools from 1956 until 2013, a White House official told NBC News. The role of administering the test will fall to Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has been vocal in his concern about childhood obesity and whose “Make America Healthy Again” report in February attributed the issue, in part, to sedentary lifestyles. The White House official said Trump aims to address Americans’ declining health and physical fitness, including “crisis...

Republican senators were appalled by President Trump’s rough treatment of 91-year-old Sen. Chuck Grassley (Iowa), the Senate’s most senior Republican, on social media and are pushing back on Trump’s attempts to squeeze the senator into abolishing an arcane procedure known as the Senate blue slip. GOP senators were not pleased that Trump piled so much pressure on Grassley, the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, to get rid of a long-established Senate tradition. Trump piled on by reposting on Truth Social posts accusing Grassley of being a “RINO” and “sneaky” and standing in the way of Trump’s agenda. Sen. Thom...

Wednesday on MSNBC’s “The Weeknight,” Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) said Democrats would “fight fire with fire” by matching any Republican redistricting effort for House of Representatives seats. Padilla said, “Why are they doing this in Texas anyway? It must be that’s how desperate they are and the lengths to which they will go to hold on to power. They know that the Midterms are going to be here before we know it. The margin in the House of Representatives is close enough that this could sway the balance of the House of Representatives next year. They’re not trying to run...

In recent days, Poland has been electrified by continued reports of Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s attempts to unlawfully prevent President-elect Karol Nawrocki from taking office. These actions bear all the hallmarks of a constitutional coup. At the same time, on Friday, 25 July, the ruling left-liberal coalition moved to suspend the functioning of the National Broadcasting Council—a constitutionally mandated institution tasked with protecting freedom of speech and media pluralism. This action, too, constitutes a direct assault on the Constitution. Since December 2023, Poland under Tusk’s so-called “militant democracy” has become a testing ground for globalist lawlessness and a campaign of...
