Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) introduced legislation on Monday to provide Americans with tariff rebate checks of at least $600. The checks would be for each adult and child in American families. “Americans deserve a tax rebate after four years of Biden policies that have devastated families’ savings and livelihoods. Like President Trump proposed, my legislation would allow hard-working Americans to benefit from the wealth that Trump’s tariffs are returning to this country,” Hawley said in a statement. NBC News has more: Hawley, who championed stimulus check legislation with Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., during the Covid pandemic in 2020, put forward...

EPA employees staged a political stunt, tried to take it back when it bombed, and revealed just how deeply entitlement and arrogance run through the federal workforce. The Information Age brought rapid technological progress and unprecedented access to knowledge. But one rule still holds true: Once it’s on the internet, it’s there forever. Some EPA employees are now learning that the hard way. The signatories of the now-infamous “Stand Up for Science” declaration — an act of open defiance against the Trump administration — are scrambling to erase their names after their stunt blew up in their faces. The petition,...

While America grapples with its own dark past of slavery, a massive chapter of history gets buried by academics who fixate on Western guilt. Justin Marozzi’s eye-opening book, Captives and Companions, shines a light on the Islamic world’s slave trade, spanning over a millennium with unmatched scale and savagery. This isn’t ancient news, but it is a wake-up call for historians. Marozzi estimates that from the 7th century to the 20th, up to 17 million Africans and Europeans were enslaved in Muslim lands, dwarfing the transatlantic trade’s 11-15 million.

The Trump administration says it boycotted a United Nations conference promoting the two-state solution on Monday, calling the event a “publicity stunt” and an “insult.” “This week, the U.N. will serve as host to an unproductive and ill-timed conference on the two-state solution in New York City,” State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said in a statement. “This is a publicity stunt that comes in the middle of delicate diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.” Bruce said the conference will “prolong the war, embolden Hamas, and reward its obstruction and undermine real-world efforts to achieve peace.” Instead of participating, Bruce said...

Fateh is now running for Minneapolis mayor, and earlier this month, he rocketed to the top of the race when the city’s local Democratic Party endorsed him. Feeding Our Future was a key player in the...

The attorney general of Arkansas says his office is looking into a white supremacist group that has effectively created a whites-only community in his state and is seeking to expand its footprint to Missouri. Republican Attorney General Tim Griffin has pursued bigoted initiatives in his own right, as evidenced by his participation in the right-wing crusade against diversity and school lesson plans that discuss racial injustice. But a whites-only, anti-Jewish community formed in Arkansas by a white supremacist group that calls itself Return to the Land is apparently a step too far in the AG’s eyes. Group co-founder Eric Orwoll...

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) fired a warning shot at Democrats amid calls for the upper chamber to cancel its August recess and confirm more of President Donald Trump’s nominees. In remarks on the Senate floor, Thune explained how the Senate has confirmed 107 civilian nominees over the past six months — nearly doubling the pace seen during Trump’s first term. This is happening in spite of Democrats impeding the process by forcing procedural votes in which many of them end up supporting the nominees in significant numbers, he added. Thune described what he called a “historic level of...

To typo is human. To falsely attribute quotes in a legal opinion is what’s alleged of U.S. District Court Judge Julien Neals. Neals delivered an opinion June 30, 2025, which caught the eye of attorney Andrew Lichtman. Lichtman had appeared before Neals on behalf of defendants in a recent civil suit. Lichtman issued a letter to the judge “bring[ing] to the Court’s attention a series of errors in the Opinion — including three instances in which the outcomes of cases cited in the Opinion were misstated (i.e., the motions to dismiss were granted, not denied) and numerous instances in which...

The "missing minute" from the surveillance video at the Manhattan Metropolitan Correctional Center where Jeffrey Epstein died in 2019 may not be missing after all, CBS News has learned. When the Justice Department and FBI released nearly 11 hours of footage earlier this month, the time code on the screen jumped forward one minute just before midnight, prompting questions about the one-minute gap. The video shows part of the area near the cell where Epstein was being held the night he died in what the medical examiner ruled a suicide. A government source familiar with the investigation says the FBI,...
