India and Pakistan have seemingly pulled back from the brink again. But so much was new about the nuclear-armed enemies’ chaotic four-day clash, and so many of the underlying accelerants remain volatile, that there’s little to suggest that the truce represents any return to old patterns of restraint. A new generation of military technology fueled a dizzying aerial escalation. Waves of airstrikes and antiaircraft volleys with modern weapons set the stage. Soon they were joined by weaponized drones en masse for the first time along the old Line of Control in Kashmir — hundreds of them in the sky, probing...

Because this is a podcast, I'll provide a summary: Sowell says Robert Francis Prevost was elevated to Pope because he is an able administrator, a voice of calmness, and accumulated a cosmopolitan resume. His elevation to Pope followed another who presided over social activism and moral drift. Sowell says Pope Francis gained applause from secular institutions and the elite of the world, at the cost of shrinking congregations; and, the Cardinal-Electors chose Prevost for preservation rather than change.

Alberta’s threat to divorce Canada is getting more serious than ever. Premier Danielle Smith announced this week that the oil-rich province could hold its first-ever referendum on independence in 2026, as the area’s pro-51st state activists ramp up calls to ditch the Great White North in favor of the star-spangled banner. “Staying with Canada is finished,” Alberta resident Steve Harvey, 52, told The Post. “We’ve been an eagle locked up in a cage for decades because of Canada. It’s time that we’re set free.”

A Massachusetts police union is calling for charges against a City Councilmember who allegedly assaulted local and federal officers — and incited a caught-on-video chaotic protest of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrest of an accused violent criminal. The aggressive protest saw as many as 25 neighbors wailing and chanting “no warrant!” and “not the mother!” — with the daughter of the apprehended Ferreira de Oliveira jumping in front of the unmarked ICE vehicle while holding her own infant in an attempt to stop the arrest, video showed. Etel Haxhiaj, who represents Worcester’s District 5, helped incite the mob into...

After a lull in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity on California’s Central Coast, a rash of raids has reportedly swept through San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties over the past week. One notable arrest over the weekend left two children unattended after a man was taken from a gas station by what appeared to be a group of ICE agents. 805 UndocuFund, a collaborative nonprofit group that brings together immigrant-serving Central Coast organizations, reported what appeared to be a planned ICE arrest at the Sinclair gas station at 1050 South Ventura Road in Oxnard. Juan Conches, a...

A potentially great day for Russia and Ukraine! Think of the hundreds of thousands of lives that will be saved as this never ending “bloodbath” hopefully comes to an end. It will be a whole new, and much better, WORLD. I will continue to work with both sides to make sure that it happens. The USA wants to focus, instead, on Rebuilding and Trade. A BIG week upcoming! America's Trans Population. Marco Rubio says he's reviewing foreign nationals arrested following the raid, putting one they/them student born in Vietnam at risk. Jon Levine. May 9, 2025 It's a they-tifada. At least 9 of the 81 people, or 11 percent, arrested in connection with storming a Columbia University library Wednesday use "they/them" pronouns, a review of public records by the Washington Free Beacon shows. That share is well above the 1.6 percent of Americans who identify as transgender or nonbinary, according to the Pew Research Center, and more than double the 5 percent of people who identify as transgender...

Woke fatigue found comedian Bill Maher lashing out at the left for failing to set their “young, loyal followers” straight on being “embarrassed” to be American. “You couldn’t survive a week living in Intifadaville.” Like pests drawn to a bug zapper, the mask and keffiyeh-clad Hamas sympathizers that comprised the Democratic Party’s base continued to force their way into the spotlight despite the backlash it had meant in the last election. As those sentiments represented a sliver of the left’s anti-American attitude, Maher’s latest episode of HBO’s “Real Time” excoriated the party for its continued favor for the “weak and...

I say "sort of" because as a Church official, he has not promoted one party or the other, and as a former citizen of Illinois with its non-partisan registration, he's not officially Republican or Democrat. And since he has deliberately avoided partisan identification, it would be misleading to simply say he is a Republican. But, accounting for that inherent inaccuracy, he's a Republican. Maybe you've seen that he voted in a Republican primary; I did and initially I didn't think that much of it. But he voted as a Republican in at least the last three primaries that he voted...

The blue state of Hawaii is suing oil companies over climate change, but for some strange reason they have exempted one refinery that has executives who give a lot of cash to Democrats. What an odd coincidence. The entire conversation about climate change should have ended the instant that leftists began targeting Teslas and Tesla dealerships over DOGE. It proved that the left doesn’t really care about this issue, they just want what they want. The lawyers for the oil companies will surely point this out, if they’re smart. Hawaii Sues Oil Industry for Causing Climate Change—But Spares State’s Largest...

A teenager charged with killing his 15-year-old passenger in a high-speed crash has been sentenced to four years in a youth correctional facility. His mother, who lent her son her car the night of the crash even though he didn’t have a license, was sentenced to five years in prison. Dane T. Pierce, now 19, and his mother, Tisha Gargon, 53, both of Pittsgrove, were sentenced Thursday in Salem County court after pleading guilty to charges in March.
