In all states except Pennsylvania, a presidential nominee of a qualified party need not file any documents himself or herself to get on the November ballot. Instead, presidential nominees of qualified parties get on the general election ballot automatically. The state party officers send the names of that party’s presidential elector candidates to the state elections office, and the party’s certification also notifies the state of whom the electors are pledged to. Challenges to former President Donald Trump this year, and last year, have been challenges to his appearance on presidential primary ballots. Generally, when a candidate must file some...

My colleague Bonchie wrote on some of the problems in the Senate border bill earlier. As more comes out, it's even worse than people thought. People have been talking about the emergency provisions kicking in to shut down the border at 5,000 illegal aliens on average over seven consecutive days or 8,500 in one day. You have the discretion to activate it at an average of 4,000 a day over seven consecutive days, but you have to activate it at 5,000. And yes, that's ridiculous because you should just be applying the provision to enforce the law from the first...

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has come up with an unusual solution for solving Florida's homeless problem: putting people in camps. Although the idea may sound authoritarian or reminiscent of the power-crazed lunacy exhibited during the Chinese coronavirus pandemic, it may actually be a viable solution. The Tampa Bay Times reports that DeSantis is considering approving legislation that would help move homeless people off the streets and place them in specialized camps where they can enjoy access to various services. However, DeSantis confirmed at a news conference in Miami Beach on Monday that the idea was still very much a "work...

Even dictatorships have judges.Which doesn’t mean they have justice.Democrats appear ever-more enamored with “lawfare” — a term that hardly existed before Donald Trump was elected president in 2016 — as they try to keep Trump from returning to the White House.Left-wing politicians, prosecutors, and lawyers may be sincere when they say they believe Trump is an existential threat to democracy who must be stopped by any means necessary. But they would be wise not to become what they fear. The Democratic effort to twist the legal system has accelerated in the last few months. Trump and his most ardent supporters now...

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Sunday that there is currently no imminent military threat from Russia towards a NATO member, highlighting the alliance's strengthened defense capabilities. In an interview with German public broadcaster ARD, Stoltenberg dismissed claims that Russia would attack a member of the alliance if it wins the war in Ukraine. "We do not currently perceive a military threat against a NATO ally in the near future," he said, noting that NATO has been "significantly strengthened" in recent years and all member states have invested "significantly" in their own defense.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ Friday denial of corruption allegations left many questions unanswered, including details about the start of her relationship with Nathan Wade and his prior professional experience. Though Willis confirmed in a Friday court filing that she had a ‘personal relationship” with Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor she appointed to work on the case against former President Donald Trump, she forcefully denied financially benefiting from awarding him a lucrative contract. Trump co-defendant Michael Roman, who had previously filed a motion to disqualify Willis and had made the initial allegations against her, filed a response later that...

On Sunday the US Senate finally released James Lankford’s Joe Biden approved open borders bill to screw Americans.
