The IOM Emergency Manual document says this cash assistance also includes less-seeable bank transfers, mobile transfers, and e-vouchers that go to intending illegal border crossers en route or at least temporarily blocked like many of those I saw and interviewed in Reynosa. In addition to those and the pre-paid plastic cards, the IOM says in its Emergency Manual that it also sometimes hands out “cash in envelopes (hard cash).” No details are offered on that. Many payments are given as “unconditional; unrestricted cash transfers” for “multi-purpose use,” the manual says. Still other handouts subsidize the lodging, rent, and utilities of intending...

Listening to Hugh Hewitt this morning - he made the outrageous comment about how the vaxxed will survive the omicron variant if they catch it, while the unvaxxed will die! I know Hewitt is a Beltway 'conservative' with a reputation as a RINO with his support of Romney in the past, but how the hell can he get away with such crap? So far, there has been only one fatality on the planet related to omicron, and it's not even clear whether it was an 'of omicron' or 'with omicron'.

The lawsuit seeks to block the subpoenas and claims Jones should be protected under the First Amendment, and that he will also decline to answer questions so as not to incriminate himself. The committee has called Jones to testify on January 10, according to the lawsuit.

Another sort of human once lived in the Altai Mountains as well... the Neanderthals. In a study titled “Neanderthals and the cult of the Sun Bird,” published this month in Quaternary Science Reviews, a team of anthropologists reveals that Neanderthals trapped and hunted golden eagles at least 130,000 years ago. Arguably, this means that Neanderthals were the first humans to practice catching these eagles with seven-foot wingspans, a behavior that the researchers think modern humans later learned from Neanderthals. After combing through previous research on sites where Neanderthals lived, the four-person team — three of which are a family of scientists...

21st House Democrat planning to step down at end of term Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-Fla.) will not run for another term. Murphy, who co-chairs the Blue Dog Coalition, said Monday she will not seek to continue representing Florida’s 7th Congressional District because she wants to spend more time with her family. “These last few years have been some of the most rewarding moments of my life, but also some of the most challenging. Public service is not without personal sacrifice, and as a mom of two young children, my time away from them has been hard for them, for me,...

Democratic pollster Doug Schoen is sounding the alarm for the Democratic Party’s 2022 midterm prospects. In fact, according to Schoen and fellow pollster Carley Cooperman, "Democrats’ political prospects are significantly deteriorating" — and they have the data to prove it. What do the data show? Recent data collected by Schoen Cooperman Research proves the Democratic Party is becoming increasing unfavorable and vulnerable to massive losses in 2022. The key findings include: 53% of likely voters believe President Joe Biden "hasn’t paid enough attention to the country’s most important problems," compared to 38% who believe Biden's priorities are correct; 66% of...

Dr. Anthony Fauci suggested on Sunday that fully vaccinated Americans who received a coronavirus booster shot should still do more, wearing masks and undergoing a coronavirus test before gatherings in congregate settings, despite the fact that public health officials originally pitched vaccines as the avenue to return to a state of pre-pandemic normalcy. “Well, we got to do better. I mean, we are doing better,” Fauci said during an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union when asked if the state of testing is currently “acceptable” in America.

“You come at the king,” Omar Little once advised on the HBO series The Wire, and “you best not miss.” Donald Trump made it a personal project to come at the king of the Senate GOP, and … thus far he’s still all alone in the quest. Not a single sitting Senate Republican has suggested any opposition to Mitch McConnell, and only two Senate candidates have bothered to side with Trump, Politico reports:Despite months of attacks, the Trump-led campaign to depose the Senate minority leader has resulted in firm pledges from just two Republican candidates and no senators, and it...

A 1995 law that required parents to be notified when a minor seeks an abortion is off the books. Governor J.B. Pritzker signed House Bill 370 Friday which repeals the Parent Notification Act. The law, which has been enforced since 2013, requires parents to be notified 48 hours in advance when a minor seeks an abortion. The law did not take effect in Illinois until a Supreme Court ruling after years of court challenges by the American Civil Liberties Union. “With reproductive rights under attack across the nation, Illinois is once again establishing itself as a leader in ensuring access...

The 999 call at just before 1am was classed as category 2, meaning the ambulance service aimed to reach him within 18 minutes.
