Senator Joe Manchin announced he would join all 50 Republicans in the Senate in voting for a resolution of disapproval that would roll back the OSHA vaccine mandate. The Congressional Review Act (CRA) allows for a majority of Congress to disapprove of any agency rule. Since the CRA vote is in the form of a resolution, only a simple majority is needed in the Senate to pass it. The CRA would still have to be approved in the House where several Democrats have said they’re considering voting for it. And even if it’s passed by both chambers, Biden would almost...

In early 2007, the brand new District Attorney for Milwaukee County, Wisconsin gave an interview to a local newspaper spelling out his ‘progressive’ approach to crime. He told the reporter: “Is there going to be an individual I divert [i.e. release back onto the street] or I put into treatment program, who’s going to go out and kill somebody? You bet. Guaranteed. It’s guaranteed to happen. It does not invalidate the overall approach.” (Actually his approach is invalidated by the data; rape, homicide, arson, aggravated assault, and other violent crime have risen dramatically in Milwaukee. His approach is clearly not...

A federal appeals court overrode a three-judge panel decision Wednesday, restoring an injunction blocking President Joe Biden’s “sanctuary country” orders as legal challenges continue. These “sanctuary country” orders are directions by top officials in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). They require immigration agents to delay the deportation of illegal aliens until they have been convicted of aggravated felonies. In August, Judge Drew Tipton of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas issued a preliminary injunction blocking the sanctuary country orders following a lawsuit from the states of Texas and Louisiana. However, a three-judge...

“We Grieve, and We Have Hope” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) In the Epistle reading we heard a few minutes ago, Paul says he writes to the Thessalonians “that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.” Did you catch that? “That you may not grieve”? Does that mean that Christians are not supposed to grieve? That if you grieve, it must mean that your faith is lacking, because of course we Christians should be above grieving? Does it mean that? No, by no means! It’s not saying that Christians cannot grieve. No, we’re human, we have emotions, we...

CHICAGO, IL—In a powerful, emotional moment in the Jussie Smollett trial Thursday, a mirror was brought into the courtroom so Smollett could face his attackers for the first time since he was beaten up on the streets of Chicago. Smollett demanded to face his attackers to help him overcome the pain and trauma of the assault, and the judge obliged. He signaled for a bailiff, who brought in a tall mirror and held it up to Smollett. The actor wept as he looked his attackers right in the eye, facing them man to man. "Everyone deserves to face their attackers...

In this polarized hour, citizens from both sides of the political spectrum are finding common cause in resisting COVID-19 vaccine mandates for children, with more than 100 grassroots groups in California joining forces in an effort called The Unity Project. Philanthropist Jeff Hanson is spearheading the project along with health experts such as Dr. Robert Malone, the inventor of the messenger RNA technology behind the two leading COVID-19 vaccines. “What we understand launching this is we need our progressive brothers and sisters,” Hanson said in a virtual briefing Monday. Launched two weeks ago, the project began in response to California...

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) said he will “absolutely” be running in the 2022 midterm elections, denying growing reports and speculation of the longtime Democrat getting ready to retire. Nadler “rejected” the rumors of him retiring, as well as calling it “crap,”according to Manu Raju — an infamous congressional reporter who usually patrols the halls of Congress stalking Republicans and other members. Nadler said he would “absolutely” run in the midterms. If the congressman truly did retire today, he would be the twentieth Democrat to announce retirement and the fourth committee chairman. As he is a close confidant to...

Cast your mind back, if you will, to 1965, when Tom Lehrer recorded his live album That Was the Year That Was. Lehrer prefaced a song called “So Long Mom (A Song for World War III)” by saying that “if there's going to be any songs coming out of World War III, we’d better start writing them now.” Another preoccupation of the 1960s, apart from nuclear annihilation, was overpopulation. Stanford University biologist Paul Ehrlich’s book The Population Bomb was published in 1968, a year when the rate of world population growth was more than 2 percent—the highest in recorded history....

We found that the spike protein localizes in the nucleus and inhibits DNA damage repair.’. A Swedish lab study released in mid-October found that the spike protein associated with the COVID-19 illness, and its experimental vaccines, enters the nucleus of cells and significantly interferes with DNA damage-repair functions compromising a person’s adaptive immunity and perhaps encouraging the formation of cancer cells. The study, titled “SARS–CoV–2 Spike Impairs DNA Damage Repair and Inhibits V(D)J Recombination In Vitro,” was released by the Department of Molecular Biosciences of Stockholm University, and began by discussing the enormous impact of the COVID-19 disease on the...

Protecting the right of people to be censored? A federal court blocked the Texas HB 20 law against social media censorship based on political view. Texas House Bill 20 was enacted to stop platforms from censoring content merely for being the wrong political viewpoint, but U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman has put the law on ice for now. “Pitman granted an injunction filed by NetChoice and CCIA [Computer & Communications Industry Association] to put HB 20 on hold until the case is complete,” Reclaim The Net reported. “The judge argues that the law violates the First Amendment rights of social...

Explanation: Sweeping through northern predawn skies, on November 24 Comet Leonard (C/2021 A1) was caught between two galaxies in this composite telescopic image. Sporting a greenish coma the comet's dusty tail seems to harpoon the heart of NGC 4631 (top) also known as the Whale Galaxy. Of course NGC 4631 and NGC 4656 (bottom, aka the Hockey Stick) are background galaxies some 25 million light-years away. On that date the comet was about 6 light-minutes from our fair planet. Its closest approach to Earth (and even closer approach to Venus) still to come, Comet Leonard will grow brighter in December....

A shortage of nitrogen fertilizer will likely result in reduced world production of crops like wheat and corn, says an industry executive. “We do think yield on a global basis is going to be off next year, not because of demand destruction but just because there’s not going to be enough tons available,” said CF Industries president Tony Will. He told investment analysts listening to the company’s third quarter 2021 earnings results conference call that farmers in countries like India and other places that rely on government subsidies won’t be able to compete for limited supplies of products like urea....
