Dwayne Johnson says he plans to only use rubber guns on all future projects. “I can’t speak for anyone else, but I can tell you, without an absence of clarity here, that any movie that we have moving forward with Seven Bucks Productions — any movie, any television show, or anything we do or produce — we won’t use real guns at all,” Johnson told Variety. “We’re going to switch over to rubber guns, and we’re going to take care of it in post. We’re not going to worry about the dollars. We won’t worry about what it costs,” he...

Denisova Cave in Siberia, Russia (Cheburgenator/ CC-BY-SA-4.0/Wikimedia Commons) =============================================================================== Nobody knows who she was, just that she was different: a teenage girl from over 50,000 years ago of such strange uniqueness she looked to be a 'hybrid' ancestor to modern humans that scientists had never seen before. Only recently, researchers have uncovered evidence she wasn't alone. In a 2019 study analysing the complex mess of humanity's prehistory, scientists used artificial intelligence (AI) to identify an unknown human ancestor species that modern humans encountered – and shared dalliances with – on the long trek out of Africa millennia ago. "About 80,000...

A juror in Kyle Rittenhouse’s murder trial was dismissed Thursday after a court security officer reported that the man told a joke about the police shooting of Jacob Blake, which set off protests in the Wisconsin city where Rittenhouse is accused of shooting three people. Kenosha County Circuit Judge Bruce Schroeder said the security officer reported the remarks earlier this week. Prosecutor Thomas Binger said the remarks as shared showed racial bias. Blake, who is Black, was shot by a white Kenosha police officer and left partially paralyzed. When Schroeder called the juror into the courtroom to discuss what he...

America's top infectious disease doctor Anthony Fauci on Thursday blasted Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) for suggesting he is somehow responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. "You have said I am unwilling to take any responsibility for the current pandemic. I have no responsibility for the current pandemic," Fauci said. Paul accused Fauci of misleading the public about the role the National Institutes of Health played in funding potentially dangerous "gain of function research" in Wuhan China, and suggested that the SARS-CoV-2 virus was the result of such research, and then was released into the world because of a lab leak.

Obama-era Attorney General Eric Holder said Thursday he is "concerned" that some of the sentences being brought against defendants in the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection are not high enough. While speaking with Wolf Blitzer at CNN's Citizen Conference, Holder was asked if he believed federal authorities are being aggressive enough towards the rioters. "I do think that the Department of Justice is doing a good job. This is a resource-intense issue. You know, I guess there have been I guess 400 people or so charged at this point, potentially more," Holder said. "Anybody who participated in that coup attempt on...

This post was updated on Nov. 3 at 5:15 p.m.When Wednesday’s oral argument in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen drew to a close after roughly two hours of debate, it seemed likely that New York’s 108-year-old handgun-licensing law is in jeopardy. But the justices’ eventual ruling might be a narrow one focused on the New York law (and others like it), saving broader questions on the right to carry a gun outside the home for later. The law requires anyone who wants a license to carry a concealed handgun to show “proper cause” for the license. Courts...

The first significant lake-effect snow of the season dropped nearly a foot of snow near the shores of the Great Lakes Tuesday into Wednesday. The snowfall was enough to transform parts of Michigan's Lower Peninsula into a winter wonderland and break into the record books at one weather station in Michigan. Snow totals topped 11 inches in northern parts of northern Michigan. Gaylord, Michigan, picked up 11.7 inches of snow on Tuesday, which set a record for the heaviest snowfall in a calendar day in November. That amount also ranked as the sixth highest single-day snowfall in any month. Records...

President Biden admitted Wednesday that Democrats need to “produce results” — a stunning confession following Tuesday’s election upsets. The intense day at the polls saw Democrats lose the gubernatorial race in Virginia — a state Biden won by 10 points in 2020. Meanwhile, his party only narrowly won in heavily Democratic New Jersey on Wednesday. Republicans, who are looking to retake the House in 2022, championed their victories this week as the “red wave.” When pressed about the crushing outcomes, Biden appeared to admit his party had failed to deliver results.

RICHMOND, VA—Tuesday seemed to be a banner day for Republicans. They won a huge victory in Virginia, and without the involvement of former President Donald Trump. Perhaps the Republicans had turned a new leaf. But it was all a ruse. As Youngkin gave his victory speech, he pulled off his mask and revealed that he had, in fact, been Donald Trump all along. “Hello, haters and losers!” Trump yelled. “I win again! Now I’m president of this state! Forty-nine more to go!” “See?! I told you!” screamed Terry MacAuliffe from the crowd. “I told you that electing Youngkin was basically...

One of government’s most shocking powers is civil asset forfeiture or seizure. This power occurs when law enforcement confiscates private property with or without charging the owner with a crime. In Tennessee, the betting odds say it is more likely personal property will be taken by law enforcement than through a robbery. Scary, isn't it? Going back slightly more than a decade you will find Tennessee law enforcement has taken more than $150 million in cash and personal property – without criminal charges or legal accusations of criminal activity. The proceeds from these types of seizures are generally applied to...

A 63-year-old previously healthy Michigan man developed a seven-centimeter tumorous growth after receiving Johnson & Johnson/Janssen’s shot against COVID-19, which caused him to go into respiratory failure and life-threatening cardiogenic shock where his heart was unable to pump enough blood to his vital organs. One day after receiving the J&J shot, the man developed “intractable nausea,” vomiting, shortness of breath, watery diarrhea, chills, sweats, and heavy chest pain, though he had no symptoms prior to getting the COVID vaccine and no significant past medical history, according to a recently published case report titled “Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 Vaccination Triggering Pheochromocytoma...

New York Times economist Paul Krugman claimed President Joe Biden has no control over the rise in gas prices. This, of course, comes after Krugman pilloried former President Donald Trump a year earlier for allegedly exercising the same control he said Biden didn’t have. Krugman took to Twitter to try to explain away the abysmal election results for Democrats Tuesday in an attempt to protect Biden: “One issue that seems to have influenced voters Tuesday was the price of gasoline — over which Biden has no control.” But Krugman went after Trump in 2020 over his alleged control over the...

After a brief meeting on Thursday, the group approved a 400,000 barrel-a-day production hike for December. That’s a pace that major consumers say is too slow to sustain the post-Covid economic recovery, with the U.S. asking for as much as double that amount. The cartel could now face a bare-knuckle fight with the White House, amid growing speculation that the U.S. could tap emergency crude stockpiles in an effort to drive down prices. Crude futures erased most of their earlier gains, trading 0.4% higher at $81.16 a barrel as of 11:02 a.m. in New York. What happens in the coming...

After advisers to FDA and CDC committees expressed concern about the lack of data on long-term risks before approving the Pfizer vaccine for children ages 5-11, a survey finds only 27% of parents are eager to get the shots for their kids. The Kaiser Family Foundation survey found that 33% of parents say they will wait a while and see how the vaccine is working, and 30% say they will definitely not get the vaccine for their child. The rest are split among those who will get the shots if it's require and those who are undecided. Many prominent epidemiologists...

The World Series and Sportsmanship. My family has lived in Atlanta since 1984. As an Australian who grew up playing and following cricket, baseball was not on my radar until 1991 when the Braves soared from worst to first. Since then, I have been a fan. As the Braves clinched the series, becoming world champions for the first time in 26 years, my family and I cheered enthusiastically. But as I watched the post game celebrations and interviews, an uneasy feeling struck me. There were no on-field interactions between the Braves and Astro players. No handshakes. No congratulations. No Commiserations....

The American Civil Liberties Union tore into President Joe Biden on Wednesday night after he denied reports that his White House is planning on paying migrants separated under the Trump administration $450,000 each or $1 million per family. Biden had dismissed the reports as 'garbage' at a White House press conference just hours earlier. The head of the ACLU said the 78-year-old president's statement means he either hasn't been 'full briefed' on the matter or is 'abandoning' his promise to undo Donald Trump's more strict immigration laws.

Tesla and Hertz are negotiating how fast the electric car manufacturer will be able to deliver 100,000 vehicles to the rental company amid confusion over a recent announcement by Hertz that they would be receiving them by the end of next year, The Wall Street Journal reported. The Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, reported that the two companies were negotiating the timeframe for when Tesla would be expected to deliver its 100,000 electric vehicles (EVs) to Hertz. Hertz is reportedly still receiving that quantity at Tesla’s list price, however. One of the people the newspaper spoke to said...
