Explanation: It may look like a huge cosmic question mark, but the big question really is how does the bright gas and dark dust tell this nebula's history of star formation. At the edge of a giant molecular cloud toward the northern constellation Cepheus, the glowing star forming region NGC 7822 lies about 3,000 light-years away. Within the nebula, bright edges and dark shapes stand out in this colorful and detailed skyscape. The 9-panel mosaic, taken over 28 nights with a small telescope in Texas, includes data from narrowband filters, mapping emission from atomic oxygen, hydrogen, and sulfur into blue,...

A Florida woman is under arrest after allegedly tampering with airplane records belonging to a flight training school, whose CEO warned that the incident could have resulted in planes with prior maintenance issues taking to the skies. Local TV station News Channel 9 first reported that 26-year-old Lauren Lide of Brevard County is the main suspect in the breach. Authorities charged her with one count of fraudulent use of a computer and two counts of unauthorized access to a computer system or network. Lide quit her job as a flight operations manager at Melbourne Flight Training (MFT) in November 2019,...

  • Why Catholics should use preferred gender pronouns and names

    National Catholic Reporter ^ | October 13, 2021 | Daniel P. Horan
Why Catholics should use preferred gender pronouns and namesNames play an important role in the Catholic tradition. At the celebration of baptism, the first question posed to the parents is "What name do you give this child?" At confirmation, it is customary for the confirmation candidate to select and embrace the name of a patron saint. Many members of religious congregations adopt a new name as part of their religious profession, even when their "legal" names (on government documents like birth certificates) do not reflect it. Clergy and religious alike take on new titles and appellations such as "Father," "Sister,"...

When it comes to actions taken to address the Covid-19 threat, hindsight is still very much underway. For your consideration: a story and outcome you probably aren't hearing much about anywhere else. It takes place in the heart of Amish country. Lancaster County, Pennsylvania: thousands of families lead lives largely separate from modern America. The Amish are a Christian group that emphasizes the virtuous over the superficial. They don't usually drive, use electricity, or have TVs. And during the Covid-19 outbreak, they became subjects in a massive social and medical experiment. ..... My summary: The amish community in Lancaster County...

It’s not uncommon for Sonoma County Reptile Rescue director Al Wolf to receive a call from a resident about a snake or two in their home. But even Wolf was surprised to discover nearly a hundred rattlesnakes underneath a Santa Rosa home on Oct. 2. He has led the Sebastopol-based nonprofit reptile rescue organization for more than 30 years and this was the first time he’d seen so many in one house, he said. Wolf used 24-inch snake tongs to remove 22 adult rattlesnakes and 59 babies and relocate them to areas where they’re welcome. “I go to specific areas...

There’s much more to this James Bond actor than meets the golden eye. Daniel Craig, currently starring in his fifth and final James Bond film “No Time to Die,” revealed that he likes to go to gay bars. "I’ve been going to gay bars for as long as I can remember,” the English heartthrob told Bruce Bozzi on the latest episode of the “Lunch with Bruce” SiriusXM podcast. “One of the reasons, because I don’t get into fights in gay bars that often… because the aggressive d--- swinging in hetero bars, I just got very sick of [it].” He furthered:...

If the vaccine is so safe that Biden wants to mandate its administration, then the US Executive Branch should sell insurance against any ill effects of The Jab. I would suggest a 10 million dollar payout on death, up to 2 million dollars for medical expenses to pay medical bills for adverse effects requiring hospitalization or nursing home care. Premium should be identical to flight insurance sold in airports. (US$2.50 according to my research.)

The global supply chain, and particularly the North American supply chain, have been in crisis for about a year. There are a lot of reasons for this, almost entirely government-created, and it appears that the federal government has finally noticed it. Joe Biden has been a lifeguard, lawyer, city councilman, senator, and vice president. While it’s hard to tell what he is now, he has gone public with a request to hear from the American people on this matter, and he has said that he will welcome advice. It would be a first for him, but we will try, anyway....

More than 500 pages of internal documents from DC Metropolitan Police concerning the fatal shooting of Ashli Babbitt in the Capitol on Jan. 6 reveal witness accounts stating she was not holding a weapon at the time of her death and how "upset" the officer was after shooting her. "These previously secret records show there was no good reason to shoot and kill Ashli Babbitt," stated Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, which obtained the documents through a May 2021 FOIA lawsuit. "The Biden-Garland Justice Department and the Pelosi Congress have much to answer for the over the mishandling and...

North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson (R) told Todd Starnes he won’t back down from the Leftist, LGBT mob demanding he resign for calling out “filth” being taught to children in schools. Robinson came under fire for speaking out against teaching transgenderism, homosexuality, CRT and pedophilia to kids. A clip of him speaking at a Baptist church in June has gone viral as they try to out him but he isn’t going anywhere. “This stuff should not exist in schools, in any form,” Robinson told the Todd Starnes Show Monday. “And anyone who thinks that it does, I’m very, very...

Former President Donald Trump believes Republicans will sit out the 2022 midterms and the 2024 presidential election, of which he may be a contender, if the fraud he believes occurred during the 2020 election isn't "solved." Trump has been pushing that he rightfully won the 2020 presidential election since the race was called for Biden and has been critical of legislators and judges who don't back the belief as well. He has yet to prove widespread fraud occurred that would have changed the outcome of the election and on Wednesday, he railed against a Georgia judge who dismissed a fraud...

Separate link to the phone interview - here. Bill Bartlett played guitar on Green Tambourine for the Lemon Pipers and was a really good guitar player. He's probably living off that song because I'm guessing he never made any money off of Black Betty. It's an interesting song because its roots go back well into the 1800's. The first verse was likely written about a musket. Leadbelly recorded the song in the 1930's.Bartlett spills what the last 2 verses (that he wrote) are about. Good to see he's alive and well.

Scientists at Columbia University have created the world's smallest single-chip system—complete wireless electronic circuits that can monitor conditions in the body. The chips, called "motes," have a total volume of less than one cubic millimeter, making them smaller than microscopic dust mites. No, these microchips can't be used to track you; they can only communicate outside the body with an ultrasound machine.

The state of California is jumping into an historic lawsuit against companies who make kits to assemble so-called “ghost guns.” The suit, originally filed in August by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office along with the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence and the law firm Keker, Van Nest & Peters, accuses three companies of selling illegal prepackaged kits, allowing people to make a firearm at home. These ghost guns don’t have serial numbers, making them untraceable. In joining the lawsuit against Blackhawk Manufacturing Group, Inc., GS Performance, LLC, and MDX Corporation, California Attorney General Rob Bonta said the...

Hillary Clinton made a major admission while appearing on “Good Morning America.” Clinton admits politics is a “game” to her and she doesn’t plan on giving it up. “I will never be out of the game of politics,” Clinton said. “I am never going to get out of, you know, being involved, worried, and hopefully trying to help in some way,” she added. “I really feel like our democracy is at stake.” “And there are many reasons for that, some of them we saw on the screen with the insurrection,” she said about the January 6 riot. “Some of them...
