It’s not just the alcohol that’s giving this beer a kick. Along with soy sauce and dashi bonito stock, you can usually find a bottle of Tabasco in the kitchen of our reporter K. Masami, and like most Japanese fans of the fiery condiment, she uses it to add some kick to pizza and pasta. Recently, though, she was wondering what other foods she could use it on, and so she took a look at the official Tabasco Japan Instagram account. Instead of a suggested dish to sprinkle a few drops into, though, she got a drink recommendation.

A tabletop gravitational wave detector based around a piece of ringing quartz has recorded two mysterious signals in its first 153 days of operation. It's unclear exactly what these signals are; they could be from a number of phenomena. But one of those phenomena is exactly what the detector is designed to pick up – high-frequency gravitational waves, which have never been recorded before. It's way too soon to come to any conclusions, but the next iteration of the detector will be able to narrow down what caused the quartz to resonate. "It's exciting that this event has shown that...

Brittany Giroux Lane gave birth to her daughter, Alexandra, a few days before Christmas in 2018. The baby had dark eyes and longish legs. She had also arrived about 13 weeks early, and weighed just two pounds. Alexandra initially thrived in the neonatal intensive care unit at Mount Sinai West. Ms. Lane, 35, recalls the nurses describing her daughter as a “rock star” because she grew so quickly. But her condition rapidly worsened after an infection, and Alexandra died early on the morning of Jan. 15 at 25 days old. Last summer, Ms. Lane started receiving debt collection notices. The...

New government documents show that John Kerry’s wife, heiress of Heinz Ketchup, has millions of dollars in Chinese investments, leaving Biden’s climate change envoy facing an ethical dilemma. Further evidence proving the Covid-19 vaccination programme is a huge failure has been released which confirms throughout the whole of August 80% of the people who allegedly died of Covid-19 had been vaccinated against the disease. We’re living in strange times, and if you believe the Covid-19 vaccination programme is working because the authorities on the television tell you that it is, then you must surely find it extremely strange that the UK is in the middle of a third wave in the middle of summer? Especially when you consider that in summer 2020 Covid-19 deaths flat-lined to zero even though...

There is a long game and a short game going on in special counsel John Durham’s indictment of Democratic Party lawyer Michael Sussmann on a false-statements count. The short of it is this: A false statement was allegedly made by Sussmann to the FBI’s then-general counsel, James Baker, on Sept. 19, 2016. In federal law, the false-statement crime has a five-year statute of limitations, meaning it had to be charged by last Sunday (Sept. 19, 2021). Consequently, even if Durham would probably have preferred to wait until his full investigation was concluded before filing indictments, by delaying beyond Sunday, he...

The future of vaccines may look more like eating a salad than getting a shot in the arm. UC Riverside scientists are studying whether they can turn edible plants like lettuce into mRNA vaccine factories. researcher in greenhouse Messenger RNA or mRNA technology, used in COVID-19 vaccines, works by teaching our cells to recognize and protect us against infectious diseases. One of the challenges with this new technology is that it must be kept cold to maintain stability during transport and storage. If this new project is successful, plant-based mRNA vaccines — which can be eaten — could overcome this...

It’s pretty easy for pop culture parodies to fall flat when thrown into movie and TV comedies, usually because they’re little more than pandering attempts to recreate familiar scenes and quotes with no point other than to spark a sense of recognition in audiences. Seinfeld’s references to film, though, were often pretty decent, usually working well enough on their own that missing the reference doesn’t kill what’s funny about a scene in the first place. There are also far more of them than you might remember, which becomes clear when either rewatching the whole series or checking out Yaron Baruch’s...

The Soldier stood and faced God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining, Just as brightly as his brass. 'Step forward now, Soldier, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?' The soldier squared his shoulders and said, 'no, Lord, I guess I ain't. Because those of us who carry guns, Can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was tough. And sometimes I've been violent, Because the world is awfully rough. But I never...

A second dose of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine given about two months after the first increased its effectiveness to 94 percent against symptomatic infection, the company said Tuesday. The company said in a statement that the new data showed that a booster shot could also increase antibody levels and provide better protection against severe disease. “Our single-shot vaccine generates strong immune responses and long-lasting immune memory. And, when a booster of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine is given, the strength of protection against COVID-19 further increases,” Dr. Mathai Mammen, global head of Janssen Research & Development, said in...

House Democrats plan to press forward with legislation aimed at preventing abuses of presidential power, strengthening Congress’ ability to enforce subpoenas and boosting protections for whistleblowers in what supporters of the measures say is largely a response to Donald Trump's actions as president. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., will highlight the Protecting Our Democracy Act during a press conference alongside its chief sponsor, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. The measure would limit a president’s pardon power, require presidential candidates to be transparent with their tax records, and extend a deadline for prosecuting former presidents and...

Beloved, when the world of Noah's day saw each animal (male and female) walking two by two towards the Ark of Noah and go into it, that should have been a Divine wake up call and all the proof they needed that all of Noah's horrific warnings were about to come true (Gen. 7:1-16); however they mocked it and scoffed it and explained it away to justify their saturated lawless bent (John 3:19-21). Dear friends, I have been thinking a lot about the Days of Noah of late in light of our nation's EXPONENTIAL moral deterioration as a people (Prov....
