There is a long game and a short game going on in special counsel John Durham’s indictment of Democratic Party lawyer Michael Sussmann on a false-statements count.
The short of it is this: A false statement was allegedly made by Sussmann to the FBI’s then-general counsel, James Baker, on Sept. 19, 2016. In federal law, the false-statement crime has a five-year statute of limitations, meaning it had to be charged by last Sunday (Sept. 19, 2021). Consequently, even if Durham would probably have preferred to wait until his full investigation was concluded before filing indictments, by delaying beyond Sunday, he would have lost what appears to be an eminently provable felony charge. If he was going to indict Sussmann on this conduct, it was now or never.
Now, more critically, the long game.

How the frick long is the long game? 100 years?
They tried...and failed...in ‘16. Mail in balloting last year gave them the magic bullet...and they put it to good use.And last January SCOTUS let Rat Party Headquarters know that when it comes to elections there are no rules.
Is this an attempt to start going after the higher-ups (the “untouchables”), or is it to protect the higher-ups by only going after the low-hanging fruit?
I could care less if it's interesting, he's not a novelist. He needs indictments and prosecutions
Indeed they did. Just out of morbid curiosity, given that vote by mail seems here to stay, has any Republican political organization been working to take advantage of this paradigm shift? Or are they content waging civil war over The Steal®?
Followed by executions.
If the long game is ten years, it’ll be long enough. The damage is done, and we face a fait accompli.
Careful, your critical thinking skills are showing.
How much less could you care, a little or a lot?
Thanks, English teachers are not welcome here, if you want to make corrections do it in your classroom.
There should be a period, or at least a semicolon, after “here”, and a comma after “corrections”.
Perhaps a period, but I disagree on the comma after corrections.
“I could care less if it’s interesting, he’s not a novelist. He needs indictments and prosecutions.”
Sad to say, but the statutes of limitations have mostly run out. This indictment just barely got in under the wire.
Anyone who still supports the Democrats has a criminal heart.
Might be a friend or a neighbor or a coworker or a relative.
It doesn’t matter.
They have a criminal heart.
Treat them accordingly.
It is standard to use a comma after an introductory clause or phrase, although I admit I that I often drop the comma in the the interest of flow, but only if the meaning without it is crystal clear.
Yep, 5 years, amazing.
The point that one count is in a long 27-page indictment is true. The idea this will lead to major issues with the Russia Collusion Hoax paid for by Hillary and the DNC and aided by Perkins Coie and a cybersecurity exec at a tech firm is not likely.
McCarthy knows the clock is ticking on all of it. He concludes there will be an interesting “report” at the end of this.
Not indictments up the chain into the Obama WH, but a “report.”
FML
Is it? I often find that people that don't understand the meaning or concept tend to argue extraneous points that have nothing to do with anything legitimizing the famous phrase; Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt
